ASUS Triton 70 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler

  • 2300 ±10% RPM with PWM Control
  • 36.5 CFM
  • Cu. Base + Al Fins + 3 Heat Pipes
ICON Loading...

The Asus Triton 70 is a midrange CPU cooler that offers expandable capabilities. Its compact size and layout also address the problem of trying to fit a large cooler into a case without a lot of available room. The trio of 6mm sealed copper heat pipes draw heat away from the CPU through the copper heat sink to the 40 aluminum cooling fins.

These fins are cooled by a 92mm Sunon Vapo Bearing fan which blows 36.5 CFM of cooling air with only 22dBA of noise. The fan supports PWM functionality which allows the speed to be adjusted automatically according to thermal load which makes the fan even quieter in off-peak operation. In addition, this fan can be replaced by other 8 and 9 cm fans, or it can be supplemented by an additional fan for additional performance.

Installation is a breeze using the included pushpins and clips and does not require removal of the motherboard. The cooler supports both AMD and Intel processors with mounts to fit Athlon and Sempron AM2/939 sockets and LGA775 sockets respectively.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance The copper base and 3 copper heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation area, plus a 92mm, 2300RPM cooling fan to deliver optimal cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.
  • newegg Expandable for a Second Fan Add a 2nd cooling fan (optional) to the ASUS Triton70 to achieve the best possible cooling performance!
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The ASUS Triton70 features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940 and AM2 platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 platform.

1 out of 5 eggsNot to happy

Pros: Nice looking cooler. Couldn't tell you how effective it is.

Cons: No mounting hardware..See other thoughts

Other Thoughts: I purchesed this as an Open Box. I have purchesed several items from N.E. open box before and never a problem. However this time all I recived was the cooler and the fan. No hardware to install this cooler. I contacted ASUS customer support and it seems that they do not offer the hardware to end users and I can't find the hardware anywhere on the web. so now this cooler is a paper weight. I have to question the idea of selling a product open box or not that CAN NOT be used.

If you can not install it in any way shape or form why sell this item? it is useless.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

Pros: Great cooler! going to get 2 90mm fans to put on it. Plenty of room between the top of the cooler to the side panel. Very easy to install and the instructions were easy to understand.

Cons: It could of been a little taller to allow more room between it and the DIMM slots but other than that no complaints.

1 out of 5 eggspractically worthless

Pros: Came free with my motherboard

Cons: Did a dry-test installation of this on my new mobo/CPU, and it wouldn't mount. Then come to find out there's supposed to be a mounting bracket that comes with it, but didn't. See some other folks' reviews below for details, but pretty much for this price you can get a better heat sink/fan for the same price, and it actually mounts onto AM2/AM2+ mobos without issues.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if maybe just one or two boxes shipped don't have some necessary mounting bracket, cause some people here are saying 'easy to mount'. It's not that I don't know what I'm doing, I've built a lot of AMD pc's in the last six years or so and have never run into this issue, not to mention I followed the included instructions exactly. so though it was free, it's as another reviewer stated, a good paper weight.

4 out of 5 eggsIts pretty good

Pros: It runs cool, keeps my cpu around 31 C... INVEST in good silver compound... A little bit goes a long way to.... Comes with only one fan.

Cons: Kind of tall.. So careful with the case make sure you clear the height on this item or you won't be able to shut your case. Also putting two fans on :\ is ok... ***Also*** make sure the copper is perfectly lined up with the cpu.. its very touch when lining it up... only has a small platform for cooling.. :\ so you have to be dead on in lining up...

Other Thoughts: Would have been great if it came with two fans... Or at least if the fans were glowing blue or something... Also the platform for cooling the cpu could have been a little bigger... Helps consumers not go nuts for 20 min trying to perfectly line up the device...

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well.

Pros: It was Free! (Received with M3n-ht)
Works well.
Can keep up with my XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 about 3C behind.

Cons: AM2 mounting sucks in general.

Fan mouting is a bit weak.

Other Thoughts: Cools my AM2 X2 4000+ at 3.0ghz 1.5v @52C max load of 8 hours 100%. I was suprised!

4 out of 5 eggsAsus triton is pretty good

Pros: Easy installation, well packaged, very quiet. keeps my e5200 very cool. the overall design is great and the option to mount another fan is a great little feature in my opinion.

Cons: Plastic push pins for my 775 board were a joke. Before i even tried to mount it i always make sure the pushpins for the heatsink will lock correctly. two of the pins snapped just by applying a small amount of pressure.

Other Thoughts: as long as i get the rebate this is a fine purchase. i would reccomend this to a friend, but maybe also a retention bracket of some sort. that would probably make the temps even lower then what i have now.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS BLOWS

Pros: None since ASUS didn't include a fan bracket and won't ship one to me making this cooler a worthless paperweight.

Cons: Well where do I start? Asus customer support is non-existent. The few emails I did get back suggested I speak with Newegg about replacement (although I'm pretty sure Newegg doesn't have oem fan brackets... der)

Other Thoughts: Asus messed up and won't even make it right, I'm completely done supporting them w/ my mobo and cpu cooling needs. I've dealt with XFX customer support in the past for mobos and although slow they atleast get issues resolved. I'm convinced ASUS is a garbage company after this debaucle considering it's probably a $.50 part they won't ship to me.
