  • 30.87 CFM
  • Aluminum Extruded
ICON Loading...

Designed for the computer user who wants a better cooler than the stock one that AMD ships with its chips, the ASUS K8A4-8SB3 offers improved CPU cooling at an affordable price. The 80mm 3400RPM fan draws 30.87CFM over the aluminum radiator to provide stable, reliable computing.

The fan speed can be adjusted using software or hardware controllers (available separately). Its compact design is barely larger than the fan itself ensuring maximum clearance from other components within the computer case.

The K8A4-8SB3 is specifically designed to cool AMD processors including the Athlon 64, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 X2 and Sempron processors as well as any other AMD socket 939, 754, 940 or AM2 CPUs. Its light 323 gram weight prevents stress on the motherboard and it installs securely and stably with the included spring screws. If you're finding that you're just pushing the heat tolerances of your computer, the K8A4-8SB3 is your best value to protect your computing investment.

  • newegg Excellent Cooling Performance The extruded aluminum fins optimize heat dissipation and the 80mm, 3400RPM sleeve bearing fan delivers an air flow of up to 30.87 CFM for supreme cooling performance.
  • newegg Broad Compatibility with the AMD CPU Family Compatible with AMD socket 754, 939, 940 and AM2, the ASUS K8A4-8SB3 works with a wide range of AMD CPUs including Athlon 64 series, Sempron CPUs, Athlon 64 X2 CPUs, and Athlon 64 FX CPUs.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap!

Pros: It keeps my 5400+ BE at the right temps while gaming, it looks nice, it only has an 80mm fan (and I got like 10 lying around) the snaps for replacing the fan are a nice touch.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: cheap, good cooler, and the pre-applied thermal compound works nice.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap and its made by ASUS, so for the price that your paying for this its a pretty good quality HSF.

But thats good quality for the price... that doesn't make it a great fan.

But if you're on a budget its a great price.

Cons: I've had this thing for about 8 months now and I can tell its already starting to die and I will need to replace it soon (Plan to replace it with a Zalman 9700). Its starting to make funny noises and slows down alot at random times. Its also quite loud.

Other Thoughts: I love ASUS; I own an ASUS mobo, monitor, and DVD burner, all of which were outstanding quality. So Im not knocking this product by giving it 3 eggs, Im giving it 3 eggs because its obviously priced and designed with budget in mind. For the avgerage person this will be perfectly find and will probably last you a while, if your a gamer or use your computer constantly I would suggest buying a better fan.

Sorry I would post temps but I'm currently not at home.

The only reason I originally purchased this in the first place was because I did have a budget at the time.

Also I love newegg, they had this thing out to me in 2 days (along with all the other stuff I ordered at the time with it)

3 out of 5 eggsBetter than stock

Pros: I found the installation to be rather easy compared to some I've dealt with in the past. Not too heavy, which is nice. Small profile keeps it out of the way on my ECS mATX board (don't get me started on that thing's bad design...). Well machined contact area, as long as you use your thermal compound right it transfers heat very well. Currently using on a single core AM2 3200+, idles at about 37, 50 tops under load. Just ordered a BE2400, which should stay very cool with this thanks to its low TDP. Easy to change the fan (see below).

Cons: Very loud. In the past I used an Antec Tornado on a copper HSF to cool an AthlonXP 3200+ at a 35% OC. This is almost as loud, and it only moves 30ish CFM as opposed to the 100+ on the Antec. In an Antec 900 case with all the fans at max and an extra installed in the side, the included fan emits a very annoying high pitch whine at full speed. The nice part is the fan snaps off easily with a clip system that is the easiest I've see yet. Replaced with a much quiter TT model that moves 31.5 CFM and can't be heard.

Other Thoughts: Got it from a local PC shop free when they included the wrong HSF (some Intel retail doohickey) with the x64 3200 I picked up. Runs about 2c cooler that an AMD stock fan for the x64 AM2 series that I had left from another build. So, better than stock, but best bet is to buy another cooler for around twice the price.

2 out of 5 eggsMan, what a struggle

Pros: Has a fan and aluminum fins. Didn't cause me much bodily harm.

Cons: I've never struggled so much to put on a heatsink/fan assembly. You have to twist one side to tighten and for the life of me I couldn't get it until I took a screwdriver to hold it still while I moved the part that tightens. And this is after I took the motherboard out of the case. I'm not sure how everyone else was able to do it with no problem but it was a challenge for me. Luckily was able to eventually get it on. Then, with arctic silver still only cools a AMD 4000+ to 50'.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy this model again.

3 out of 5 eggsLOUD!

Pros: Keeps the CPU cool.

Cons: The one I got was extremely loud. I used it in a build for a friend and was almost too embarrassed to give it to them. Even after putting it in a cabinet (with an open back) to shield the noise, it was still very loud. I definitely wouldn't buy another one.

3 out of 5 eggsfan too noisy

Pros: fit was perfect and easy to install. kept my cpu temp to 40deg celsius.
Newegg delivery was again very fast and no problems.

Cons: This fan (evercool brand) was too noisy. PERIOD. Not usable in my setup; I have several computers and don't need anymore fan noise. I bought a masscool

Pros: Not very expensive and gets the job done.

Cons: While its blowing, its really loud, but you wont hear it that often because of Cool n' Quiet.
