ASUS Silent Knight II 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

  • 2300 ±10% RPM
  • 45.6 CFM
  • Cu. Base + Cu. Fins + 6 Heat Pipes
ICON Loading...

Asus continues to think outside the box – the boxy design of most CPU coolers, that is. Its radical, radial design provides maximum cooling with 128 polished copper ribs arrayed around a 92mm sliding bearing 2,300 RPM fan. PWM control support lets the motherboard BIOS adjust the fan speed according to thermal need resulting in reduced noise when CPU utilization is low.

Six separate, copper heat pipes distribute heat away from the CPU to be dissipated by the airflow running through the core of the cooler. Offering support for the Intel Pentium D Dual-Core CPU as well as Intel Pentium 4 LGA775 and Socket 478 processors, the Silent Knight II also fits AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core and AMD Athlon 64 (-FX) (939/940/AM2) CPUs as well thanks to the selection of included sockets and backplates.

Mounting the cooler is straightforward, and the heatsink sits high above the motherboard to eliminate any conflict with other components. Its 36.5CFM airflow will quickly purge heat from the system. Blue LED highlights accent the smooth copper surfaces of the cooler to add more than a little bling to the interior of your case.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance Six innovatively-designed copper heatpipes and high-density copper fins maximize heat transfer and dissipation. Plus a 92mm, 2300RPM sleeve bearing fan delivers an air flow of up to 36.5 CFM for exceptional cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The ASUS Silent Knight II features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2/AM2+, and socket F (1207)/1207+ platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 platform.

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but not as good as it can be

Pros: All copper, 6 heatpipes, quiet fan, PWM fan control. Medium quality thermal paste.

Cons: Contact area thick. Has small imperfections. Shoddy Mounting method.

Other Thoughts: Used AS 5. E7300 @ 3.45GHZ. P95 blend. Antec 300 with side panel open.
Stock Intel w/AS 5 : 64C
ASUS Slient Knight 2 w/AS 5 : 51C/64*

*Intel Linpack test

It would be great if lapped. There are better coolers for the money. I got this @ (-fast food-made from potatoes)'s.
for $ 40

Remember that you can get a Xiggy DK which performs a bit better in my case.

3 out of 5 eggsyikes

Pros: cooled my AMD Athlon 64 X2 5800+ Brisbane 3.0GHz down 10c useing program {coreTemp32}. core 0 want from 45c to 35c core 1 want from 50c to 40c give or take a deagree or two. no more than that

Cons: mounting hardwear is junk. the clip reminded me of an old p3 clip but cheaper. after i put this together the heatsink wiggled alot. i had to [ut the thick part of a razer blade between the clip and the heatsink just to get it tighter. still wasnt as tight as i wouls of liked.

Other Thoughts: was useing a coolmaster mars heatsink.

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet Air Mover

Pros: A real quiet fan. Easy no trouble installation if your board is not in case yet or you are not squeemish about removing mobo. Fan moves plenty of air. I have not had any random restarts due to heat since installation

Cons: Heatsink is big. Not an ideal installatin with my gigabyte GAMA69G AM2 motherboard. Fan blows up. No big deal currently

Other Thoughts: Unit comes with an adaptor for AMD boards to allow for rear expulsion of air. It did not work for me. Heat sink would be sitting on components so up it blows!!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome product

Pros: -Reduced op temps on my Q9550 from 50-60C w/stock heatsink to 35-40C. And the thermal compound hasn't even fully set up yet!
-Comes with plenty of adapters
-Comes with decent thermal grease

Cons: Slightly tight fit on the 790i SLI F.T.W., makes it hard to bolt in the upper left screw on the mobo. No big deal...but worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: I heard it looked like a basketball...it was true...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fan

Pros: Clean and shiny, moves air without all the noise. Cool blue LED and works wonders on heat.

Cons: Can be a bit intimidating when you first open the box.

Other Thoughts: It comes with brackets for both amd2+ and 775 cpus. just follow the directions and in 15 min. You'll have it up and running in no time, both require a back plate so be prepared to move that mobo around.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing but satisfaction.

Coming Soon!

Pros: - HUGE.

- Looks awesome. Includes nice Blue LED fan.

- Mounting hardware seems to be top-notch. (Intel MB)

- Dropped my temps dramatically.

Cons: HUGE. lol
Had to take the system completely apart to mount the backplate. No big deal, really.

Other Thoughts: I have an E8600 that was running at stock 3.33 gHz, temps from 45 - 52C.

Once I installed this new heatsink and fan, I overclocked to 4.0 gHz. With this heatsink / fan and the thermal paste that came with it, my temps still dropped to 26 - 34C. 34C DURING CRYSIS. 1920x1080, everything maxxed out (minus AA).

I have included a video of what it looks like in the dark.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Heat Sink!

Pros: This heat sink is great! It keeps my processor OCed at 4.0 at only 40C. I have yet to see it rise above 42C at full load. Compared to my stock fan at 52C when it wasn't OCed this fan is awesome. Absolutely love it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Be sure when overclocking to allow your thermal compound to set in for a while. Overclock a little at a time. XD
