ASUS Silent Knight AL 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler

  • 2300 ±10% RPM
  • 45.6 CFM
  • Cu. Base + Al. Fins with nickle-plating + 6 Copper Heat Pipes
ICON Loading...

Asus continues to think outside the box – the boxy design of most CPU coolers, that is. Its radical, radial design provides maximum cooling with 128 polished copper ribs arrayed around a 92mm sliding bearing 2,300 RPM fan. Six separate, copper heat pipes distribute heat away from the CPU to be dissipated by the airflow running through the core of the cooler.

Offering support for the Intel Pentium D Dual-Core CPU as well as Intel Pentium 4 LGA775 and Socket 478 processors, the Silent Knight II also fits AMD Athlon 64 X2/FX Dual-Core and AMD Athlon 64 939, 940 and AM2 socket CPUs as well thanks to the included selection of sockets and backplates.

Mounting the cooler is straightforward, and the heatsink sits high above the motherboard to eliminate any conflict with other components. Its 45.6CFM airflow will quickly purge heat from the system. Blue LED highlights accent the smooth copper surfaces of the cooler to add more than a little bling to the interior of your case.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance Six innovatively-designed copper heatpipes and high-density aluminum fins maximize heat transfer and dissipation. Plus a 92mm, 2300RPM sleeve bearing fan delivers an air flow of up to 45.6 CFM for near peerless cooling performance.
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The ASUS Silent Knight AL features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, AM2/AM2+, and socket F (1207)/1207+ platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 platform.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!!!

Pros: Major improvement in the airflow inside my case...
CPU temps, dropped an avg. of 30 deg C. installed on an Athlon 64x2 6000+.... The Blue glow from it looks great... Directional airflow, depending on how you install... Silent.... Easy installation... All around great product...

Cons: none at all...

Other Thoughts: It's big, but no larger than a lot of other ones on the market... Sits well above the socket/mobo, so it doesnt get in the way of other components/cables/wires...

5 out of 5 eggsA great heat sink!!!

Pros: *great looking design
*an almost twenty degree drop from my old stock heatsink
*near silent fan operation
*Pwm controlled
*easy to install (and remove if needed)
*cool blue halo effect from the led's

Cons: *NONE
*I would suggest a full-size case. It is big, however it is not as big as a lot of the other aftermarket coolers out there.
*also the instructions are vague, however if you need detailed instructions to put on a heat sink you probably should not be assembling a computer!

Other Thoughts: I replaced my original mother board with an Asus P5QC board. My old heat sink (a Dell Skydive) was running my Pentium 4 3.6 at 49deg C idle and 60+deg C load (no overclocking). Now the old Pentium 4s run hot... but not that hot. I put my same chip on the new board with the Silent Knight AL on it. It now runs at 32deg C idle and 48deg C load an almost twenty degree improvement! That's HUGE! Its a great looking heat sink and well worth the money. If you want your comp to last a while spend the extra money and buy a good heatsink. Ive been in the industry for a long time and Ive seen heat do some pretty nasty things. ITS WORTH IT!!!

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong.

Pros: Still one of the better LGA775 coolers out there, and for this price after rebate it's a steal. Reviewed this when I first got it(Q6700 sits around 27C/38C Up to 42C FULL LOAD OC'd to 3.2 GHz) Great little cooler for the money, smaller form factor has plenty of headroom in smaller mid-tower cases.

Cons: It's not liquid cooling?

Other Thoughts: 30 bucks after rebate? I payed 60 for this when the TRUE 120 was still around 80 bucks, and at the time an extra 20 bucks for a larger heatsink that performs at about the same level wasn't cutting it for me. Plus it matches my board...and color scheme.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does a great job keeping the temp cool on the processor.

Cons: The wire that powers the fans hit the fans making clicking noises. The hard the processor works the more noise that comes out of the case (which is expected) . Also when mounted on my DFI LANPARTY DK 790FX it angles downward blowing the air to the bottom keeping the hot air in to the case instead of mounting were the air is blowing to the back of the case pushing it out.

Other Thoughts: All in all I think the cooler look BA and it does a good job keeping the processor cool just wish it was quite.

5 out of 5 eggsIts Worth It

Coming Soon!

Pros: Its Quiet, Cool, and awesome looking! Got this from a local store, and I just love it! Fits great in my case, and installation was VERY easy! Keeps oy OC'd Q6600 (3.00 Ghz) Very cool! 30-45 C (50 when under full load).

Cons: Not free. Has only 1 little bracket holding the cooler to the CPU. The thermal paste it come's with is very basic, so I used after market paste.

Other Thoughts: Have this on my EVGA 780i SLI. My case is not really that loud, the mic just makes it seem loud.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The only gunmetal HSF I know of!
Cools decently, much better than Intel's stock HSF.
Easier to install than the Intel pushpin fiasco.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Currently running a Q9400 @ 3.6GHz. Temps around 30-32C idle, 50-55C @ full load.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Has a blue light? Looks like a turbine?

Cons: I replaced stock cooler with a cooler that has a blue light but stock performance. I used it in my main system speed fan and bios hardware monitor didn't notice any difference!! Each core still boiling at 49/51 *C IDLE!!!

Moved it to a new computer (which I didn't care about . I wanted to cool my gaming machine) One core is nice cool 28 *C, the other is boiling at 59 *C IDLE!!!

Other Thoughts: Installed bad in 2 computers? Too much coincidence, more like a bad product. Small number of total reviews says something.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler

Pros: This cooler is awesome, my old cooler (stock amd cooler) was idle around 33-35c and between 49-55c at load. This cooler as reduced idle temp to 29-30c, and the load has yet to reach 40c. (this is an AMD 64 x2 5600+ processor)

Cons: I wish there was an easier way to install the cooler without having to take the motherboard out to install a backplate, but other than that it's fairly simple. Another con is the fan is really wobly, and I had to install it in a way that the fan is blowing straight up, else it would make a loud noise as if the fan was hitting the heatsink.

Other Thoughts: Great cooler for a great price.
