1 out of 5 eggsMounting Issues

Pros: None

Cons: The mounting snaps for some reason unsnapped and the unit was not in contact with the processor causing the system to power down on thermal.

Other Thoughts: Having experience with the Intel mounting system, I was very careful to insure the securing snaps were correctly installed. I replace this with a cooling unit with a cooler that is secured to the MB with nuts and bolts. Cool Master Hyper 212

1 out of 5 eggsSeriously?!

Pros: None

Cons: The product did not keep the processor cool at all. It made correct contact with the processor and had plenty of space. I also applied the correct amount of thermal paste. The machine wasn't running 10 minutes before it started beeping. After shutdown and reboot, I saw the temperatures approaching critical in the bios.

Replaced the cooler with the Stock AMD cooler that came with the processor and have had no issues with cooling.

Other Thoughts: I rated it at one egg because I was unable to select no eggs. Stay as far away from this thing as you can!

5 out of 5 eggsIt Does the Job!

Pros: Quiet, it keeps the CPU cooler than the stock AMD heatsink. It really isn't that big but larger than a stock heatsink. It covers the first two sticks of memory but as it states in the manual, it also cools the RAM.

Cons: The tension lever on the clip provide for AMD installation is pragmatic in that it is hard to align and fasten. Once done it does hold the heatsink firmly to the CPU.

Other Thoughts: I'm not overclocking the CPU nor would recommend using the ASUS Triton 85 for much more than a nudge. I like it and would recommend it!

4 out of 5 eggsbig fan/hard to fit

Pros: it keeps the processor cooled easily, i had multiple programs running, like i was updating a game, i was downloading directx, java, and other programs and my processor was cooled perfectly

Cons: its REALLY hard to fit into place, when i was fitting the fan ontop of the processer, i felt like i was gonna break something while having to put it on, its a really tight fit

Other Thoughts: the fan might be a tight fit but it is a very good fan to cool things down, the tight fit was the only reason that it wasnt 5 eggs

4 out of 5 eggsQuiet and cool

Pros: Very quite fan even when at full power
keeps my cpu cool even when oc'd @ 15%

Cons: A tad large but with the boltdown kit it fits tight and stays in place

Other Thoughts: Asus Striker II Formula w/ E7400 2.8G oc`d at 3.4G
2 Asus 9800 GTX+ SLI`d

3 out of 5 eggsIt's not bad

Pros: My triple core 2.4 Ghz phenom is OC'd to 3 ghz and it keeps it around 21C at near idle. Also seems to keep it pretty cool when I play Oblivion with most settings maxed.

Cons: Considering the raw size of this heatsink, I'm a little annoyed that it will overheat during sustained MP3 conversion activities. I had to go back to my stock clock rate when converting like 7 gbs of MP3s to a lower bitrate. It seems like this heatsink does an excellent job clamping down the heat when you get brief intense bursts of CPU use, but sustained full throttle seems to overwhelm its capacity.

Also I am not thrilled with the overall size of the heatsink. Don't even think of using ram heatsinks if you've got this one. The spikey vanes on the side look cool, but pointless take up a lot of space. I sawed mine off with a dremel tool.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I can't hear this thing at all. The dimensions are a little bigger than what pictures denote, but it still fit fine in my case even with a side fan on the panel. My case is about 8" wide and it cleared the side fan by just under an inch.

Temps stay much lower than the stock cooler. I'd give exact numbers but I'm not on it right now.

Cons: It probably would interfere with memory that has large heat speaders on them. So...you know...don't buy those if you want this cooler....unless you have a monster motherboard.

4 out of 5 eggsAMD Overdrive Temperature Test

Pros: Reasonably good build on sink/pipes/contact plate.
Fan clips on sink are easily removed to allow replacement of 120mm fan if needed.
Plenty of downward air around mobo VGA heatpipe/sink though it IS warm air.

Cons: 120mm fan vibrates somewhat at higher RPM's, very poor machined spring clip for AMD boards.

It took me approximately 1 hour to attach sink to board due to spring clip plastic rotating clamp lockup. When not under pressure it worked fine, when under pressure it locked itself and would not rotate freely. Most likely a fluke but very annoying. I'm waiting to hear back from ASUS on replacing spring clip.

OCZ 2gb Reaper kit will NOT fit under or next to it on Gigabyte motherboard RAM slots. I had to move RAM to outer slots, 1066 speed still functions fine.

Other Thoughts: CPU TEMPS with 9950BE @ 2.6ghz
Gigabyte 790GX board (ga-ma790gp-ds4h_e)
Lian-Li PC-7 Case w. 120mm front and back.

Full load AMD Overdrive Stability Test 1 hr. 55-56C @ 1300RPM on 120mm CPU fan.

Temp drops to 40C within 1 minute after AO termination with fan automatically reducing speed to 1100RPM for next two minutes while temperatures drop to 38-39C.

4 minutes after test temp has dropped and maintained 37.5-38C idling with AMD Overdrive Board Status running.

8 minutes 37-37.5C

10 minutes maintaining 36-37C with auto fan reduction to 980RPM

Cool and Quiet CPU reduction to 1300mhz while idling.

I would recommend this sink to anyone needing heat removal on a 9950BR however I would also recommend purchasing a high quality 120mm fan if vibration is a concern. I also removed the guard grill as it was making a slight whistling noise at higher RPM's.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy

Pros: MUCH, much quieter than the stock fansink that came on my Athlon 64 X2 6000+. That's why I got it. Easy installation.

Cons: It's big but didn't interfere with anything else on the mainboard.

4 out of 5 eggsWow that's big!

Pros: Keeps things cool. Idle at 32-34 C. Easy install. I flipped the fan around so the logo was not upside down, that was also pretty easy to do. Came with descent directions.

Cons: I don't think i realized just how large this unit was. I had to do some creative routing with my wiring. The latching clip for my AMD was a bit cumbersome. But it worked.

Other Thoughts: Aside from the initial shock of the size of this bad boy i am beyond pleased. It's keeping my Athlon 64 x2 6000+ way cooler than the stock.
