As CPU processing power increases, so does the need to remove the damaging heat that increased power generates. The last thing a computer enthusiast wants when designing their machine is to cap it off with an ugly cooler. The V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP, part of Cooler Master’s V series of CPU coolers, provides a high volume of cooling air and whisper quiet noise levels at a bargain price – and looks good doing it.
A mirror-finished copper base provides optimal thermal transference from the CPU and the surplus heat flows along eight heat pipes to the aluminum cooling fins. A 120mm fan provides silent cooling while spinning on long-lasting rifle bearings.
This already low noise level can be lessened during periods of low thermal generation automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly. The mounting kit is designed to allow the V8 to easily attach to a wide variety of Intel LGA775/1366 processors as well as AMD CPUs using the AM2+, AM2 or 940 sockets.

Awesome cooler
- Pros: I have to say, I absolutely love the V8. When I set out to find a cooler for the 1366 socket, I knew the pickings would be slim. I was hoping to find something with a lot of heat pipes and added some "coolness" to my case. At first, I thought the only choice was going to be the thermalright ultra, which I didn't really like. I tried to find reviews and finally came across one that compared head to head the V8 and thermalrights ultra. In all cases, the v8 at least equaled and in some case surpassed the ultra's ability. So I bought it. And sure enough, my CPU was running at 45c on the stock cool, with the v8 it idles at 30c. Under full load it doesn't pass 55c (8 instances of prime95 for 24 hours)! I am looking forward to seeing how it does overclocking as I suspect it will do just fine. The mounting hardware is heavy duty and spreads the weight well. No worries about snapping the MB here. It is also very quiet and I keep it on about 75% at all times.
- Cons: My only complaint so far is that the instructions for the V8 are wrong in that the picture could lead someone to install it upside down. Also, I was led to believe by reading the specs and other reviews that I needed to buy a bracket for the 1366 and this was not true. The 1366 hardware is, in fact, included. Now I have an extra bracket. The manual overall though, was well done in that it kept it simple for "low tech" users.
- Other Thoughts: It does include thermal paste, but I use my own anyway. So, I cannot comment on the quality of the paste. I just have to say that I feel coolermaster hit a home run with this cooler, especially if you are a motor head like me. In my opinion, this is one of the two best air coolers out there (thermalright ultra being the other). If you don't water cooling, but want great air cooling, this is it. If you haven't gathered, I am running an i7 on the 1366 socket.

- Pros: It works very well. Easy to put together if you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
- Cons: People who can't read leave bad reviews.
- Other Thoughts: If you are having trouble getting the screws to thread into the brackets, try rotating the screw the other way LIKE IT SAYS IN THE DIRECTIONS. There's even a picture. Sure, it's not obvious at first that the screws should be tightened in the opposite way of normal, but you'd think a person of average intelligence would figure out that something was amiss after they try all the screws in all the different mounting brackets, and they just can't get it to work. Maybe look at the threads? Or the picture in the directions? Get a monkey to do it for you? LOL.
Then, they leave a bad review on a site where, if they would have read the reviews, they would have seen that people have come across it in the past, and made note so others would know better. Unbelievable. If you really can't figure the screw thing out, send your 2k+ worth of parts back to newegg and have someone put your rig together for you so you don't mess up the expensive stuff.

Great Product
- Pros: This cooler does a great job keeping the cpu cool. Looks like a beast after it is stalled.
- Cons: The install is a little more combersome than the factory fan, but still a great product.
- Other Thoughts: I would recommend.
Great buy if you have a big case
- Pros: Works better than expected, was running at about 60-70 with stock cooler installed this baby and cooled it right down to about 20-25,
- Cons: This thing is HUGE ... small price to pay though, if you have a side fan on your case you may need to move it to the outside of the case.
- Other Thoughts: After installing this cooler I was more than happy to start OCing, got my i7 920 to 4.1Ghz and it only raised the temp to about 28 at normal operation and only 35 when maxing out all four cores.

- Pros: Keeps the CPU cool. Idles around 30C. Load in the low 50s.
- Cons: BIG! At first I was afraid it was too tall for my case (antec 900). It fit but not by much.
- Other Thoughts: Core i7-920 running at stock clock speed. Cooler's speed set just above midrange. Case's 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans set at medium.
