4 out of 5 eggsShort height

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: Short and does its job.

Cons: Really short fan connector, barely reached the header. Shroud covering fins makes it hard to clean.

Other Thoughts: Lengthen the wire and get rid of the shroud for easier cleaning.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: Huge cooler, really does the job. Fits all AM and FM processors (if it fits one, it fits them all). Leaves plenty of room for RAM clearance. Overall an amazing cooler.

Cons: Putting it together takes atleast 2 people to be safe. It's not an easy thing to do. Other than that... No problems.

Other Thoughts: I have used it in both an FM2 and AM3+ rigs and it works just fine. Just make sure you have enough clearance in your case to close your side panel. Make sure you don't forget to put on the backplate.... Very bad idea not to.

2 out of 5 eggsUnpleasant Noise

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: It was efficient enough to allow my FX-8350 to run at 4.5GHz with a single GTX660 in the system. The installation was simple.

Cons: This cooler is aimed at those wanting a quiet system. It didn't meet that goal for me. It has an unpleasantly loud humming noise. I identified the N520 to be the source of the evil noise by disabling all other fans in my system. It easily overpowers any other "noise sources" (there are none) in my system. It is more quiet than the AMD stock cooler, but that's about it. All my other components are virtually silent (the only thing that I can hear is the air flowing). I tested it. Believe me.

Other Thoughts: I have been using this cooler for roughly 19 months. I ordered it along with some chassis fans to produce a quiet computer. After installing, I noticed the humming noise. Perhaps, I just received a bad coooler. It's not efficient enough to cool my FX-8350 to 4.5GHz with two MSI GTX 980 Gaming cards installed, but that's a no-brainer.

Just to give you an idea of the noise pollutants in my system:
4 CM Essentials 140mm Fans
2 MSI GTX 980 Gaming Cards
2 Corsair 120mm Fans (came stock with the Carbide 500R)
1 Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720W

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Marcel P,

4 out of 5 eggsI'm not sure... it does OK I guess

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: Big, Sexy, Cools better than stock.

Cons: Doesn't keep modest overclock temperatures as low as one would want, but I have nothing to compare it to.

See below and take it for what it's worth.

Other Thoughts: Idle temps on a 4770k with 4.2GHZ OC and 1.2v adaptive

Ambient Temp 22C

Fans maxed out for testing (front, rear, side, CPU)

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility my temps are 79C @ 5 minutes.
Prime95 (not Haswell friendly) is 100C before the CPU throttles.
AIDA64 may 79C @ 5 minutes.
Gaming (Assasins Creed Unity, GTX 780 in SLI) I stay 58-65C.

When I tried to overclock higher it couldn't keep up. Also I am not sure which tempurature to trust. CPUID seems to be 7-8 degrees hotter than the other programs.

4 out of 5 eggsI love this cooler!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: I have two of them in my wife's comp and mine. I just bought one for my kids computer.

Cons: when first installed the fans blew the wrong like has been stated in previous posts but just have to unscrew the fans and turn them around. Minor inconvenience and an easy fix.

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad, but not Amazing

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: It's fairly affordable, and it's small enough to fit in a Dell Vostro 200 or Inspirion 530 case. It dropped my temps by about 10 degrees C, but I'm still running much hotter than I expected with a Cooler Master heatsink like this.

i7-920 Overclocked @ 3.37 GHz
Idle: 40C - 45C
Load: 80C - 90C

Cons: It doesn't cool as well as I expected it to. While it did drop my temps, I was expecting my idle to be in the high 20s or low 30s. Instead, my idle is normally above 40C.

Other Thoughts: It's a pretty good cooler, and if you're limited on space, this might be the one for you. It's 141 mm from the bottom of the processor contact to the top of the copper pipes sticking out of the top. It just BARELY fits in my Dell Vostro 200 case (NOT the slimline case).

1 out of 5 eggsSTUCK!! DO NOT RECOMEND

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper N520 - CPU Cooler with Copper Base and 5 Heatpipes

Pros: fits my case without taking any ram slots

Cons: I installed my Cooler Master Hyper N520 and it works fine, except for i installed it right side up with the logo up right turns out the fans are on the cooler the wrong way (intake on outtake and outtake on intake). So a little irritated i take my computer tower back apart to find out that I cant get the heat sink off the motherboard, when I try the screws just spin in place and there's no way to hold it still. I really don't know what I'm going to do about this my new motherboard and processor are messed up because I'm never going to be able to up grade my CPU with out buying another motherboard.

Other Thoughts: Will be that last thing I ever buy from Cool master if they don't make this right.
