5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan (with one minor but easy to fix inconvenience)

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: It does the job it is designed to do. The airflow was what I needed. Dropped my hard drive temperatures down quite a bit (although I cannot remember exactly how many degrees it was sufficient). For what its worth, right now it is:
21.9 C (71.5 F) in this room and my three hard drives temperatures are as follows:
$ hddtemp /dev/sd[a-c]
/dev/sda: WDC WD10EADS-00M2B0: 26°C
/dev/sdb: WDC WD20EARX-00PASB0: 27°C
/dev/sdc: WDC WD20EZRX-00D8PB0: 27°C

and before the fans (new build including case) the temperatures was somewhere in the 30s (low to mid, I think, probably closer to mid). That was with the hard drives not close to each other (for the same reason as they are now: temperature).

Cons: The only con is something that other fans are like too. It would be unfair, also, to deduct an egg (even though I'm quite hungry...) over this con. This con is:

Molex connector. I'd rather not have to use a molex cable, and I could (I seem to remember these exist and might even have some) use an adapter but truthfully it isn't that big of a deal, especially with a CM/modular PSU.

Other Thoughts: The inconvenience is hardly an issue at all but it should be noted either way, for those who have initial trouble with screwing the screws through the holes into the case when installing it:

The fan holes are not threaded as sold. So what you should do is place the fan on a table or desk (or any solid, flat surface) and screw one of the screws (that comes with the fan) into the hole. By doing this you're threading the hole and then when you go to tighten (as in when installing the fan) the screw, it will actually screw in properly and easily. I believe threading is the proper term but apologies if not (I don't like nuts, bolts and the like although I am arguably nuts).

You can do this on both sides of the fan but you could also do it for only the side that will have screws in it. Of course you should do this for the four holes on each side of the fan (or the side you intend to use, if not both). I did both just because it felt right (that is more a quirk of mine, I guess you could say).

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Fans

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Beautiful blue light
Easy install
Moves a lot of air and is relatively quiet

Cons: The adapters it comes with are awkward. There is two different adapters on the end and the one that you don't use hangs there useless and unattractive.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing fan & very quiet...

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Absolutely amazing fan especially at its price. can move A LOT of air and it literately dropped my CPU load temps by 8-9c by simply installing it as an exhaust fan above the cpu. Really considering getting a few more. Thanks again newegg.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsLow cost, decent product

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: When my 212 evo stock fan started grinding I purchased this cm fan as a replacement. So far so good.

- Easy installation with spare brackets and screws.
- Quiet
- No clicking, no grinding
- Pretty blue LED
- Cheap

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: - Plastic feels a bit cheap, but still sturdy
- LED light is actually rather dim

5 out of 5 eggsQuiet, lit fan

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: -Quiet
-Blue
-Cool looking LED pattern
-Good airflow

Cons: -Lights aren't as bright as I'd want.

Other Thoughts: Needed a quiet 120mm fan to replace a failing PSU fan, so I bought one of these. So quiet, and so nice, I decided to buy them to replace the RAIDMAX fans in the Smilodon cases we use as they die.

Replaced the rear exhaust and front intake fans on my home computer, case hums. No idea what the people were talking about with the loud noises, mine run at full speed and kick out a decent airflow with no extra noises. In fact, they're quieter than the fans I replaced!

I also have bought the green ones, and they look cool too.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Product

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Blue LED looks nice. Black fan blades fit nicely with my build.

Cons: Oh where to begin!

1. Is not compatible with Corsair H100i CPU cooler. (this one was my bad, as I should have checked before purchasing)

2. When running on anything less than 100% (max RPM) fan RPM, the fan makes a high-pitched whining noise that is quite loud and disruptive.

3. Max RPM was not 2,000 as advertised, but mine clocked in at a top speed of 1,600 RPM.

So overall, the Cooler Master Sickleflow 120 is not silent, does not run at 2,000 RPM, and definitely does not produce only 19 dBA.

When not running on max RPM's, it does this odd cycle of spinning at max rpm's, and upon hitting the max rpm, it slows back down to a halt, then repeats this cycle. (most likely due to compatibility issues with corsair link)

Other Thoughts: Will be returning to my stock 120 mm fan until I can make a more educated purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice case fan for the price!

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Quiet with the right set up.
Looks very cool.
Moves air well.

Cons: LED not as bright as shown.
Short cable (initially, pro/con)

Other Thoughts: Have 2 of these boys on the side of my case as of now. They look very cool when they run, however, the LED is just not that bright and after an air filter layer for each fan, the LED effect can only be seen in dimmed light/ the dark. The cord on each fan is a bit short (10-ish inches?) so that might be a pro/con. These are sleeve bearing, so don't you go and mount these horizontally. Overall, I don't recommend you buying these for +CPU cooling +to put it horizonally +if you need and eye popper LED fan, otherwise, it works well as described.

5 out of 5 eggsNice fan

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: Moves air well. Looks great. Can use 3-pin connection and not a big, ugly molex. $3 after rebate!

Cons: Only one rebate per household :(

Other Thoughts: Blue LED's are very muted, possibly due to black frame and blades.
Perfect level of brightness if you want some light, but not enough to be annoying.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent case fan that pushes a lot of air

This review is from: Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 - Sleeve Bearing 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan for Computer Cases, CPU Coolers, and Radiators

Pros: It does push a lot of air compared to the stock Rosewill Challenger fans.

Cons: The LED is meh, when you look at it, it is just 4 curvy lines but the fins are not transparent enough to carry the light throughout the whole fan like the stock rosewill challenger fan.

When you put this in front of a mesh opening as an intake with no space between the fan and the opening, it makes a metric ton of noise. I had to switch the stock rosewill challenger fan with this one for the rear fan because it made too much noise. This fan goes in the front where it has an inch of space between the opening and the fan where it does not make much noise compared to the other configuration. This may be due to the high RPM which is partly my fault for picking a high RPM fan.

Other Thoughts: As an intake rear fan you might wanna get a lower RPM fan because if there is not a lot of space between the fan and the mesh opening, it will make a lot of noise.
