5 out of 5 eggsGreat performance on a budget

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Simply snaps in making for a fast and easy installation. Very quiet, and much better than any stock CPU coolers

Some CPU coolers tend to block some RAM slots but this one fits perfectly

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure how well the thermal grease that came with it is so I bought some Arctic Silver and It works great (:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Very good CPU cooler. Used it on older core 2 duos and my Q6600 Quad core. Temps never go above 50. Great budget friendly cooler, and very reliable. Just updated my system now after 4 years, so no more use for it. Would keep going strong if I kept it.

Cons: no cons I can think of

5 out of 5 eggsHot & Cold

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: With undervolted "95W rated" Athlon II X4 and custom fan profile (using Gigabyte MB software), fan doesn't have to spin more than 50% of the time. It comes on at 800 rpm at 42C and takes it back down to 38C, and shuts off.

If I load it up with rendering a movie, then it may hit 45C.

Original Antec Solo case, good airflow.

Cons: Not enough cooling at full fan speed to fully overclock the above cpu -- needs the 120mm model.

On AMD, it doesn't center itself. You have to carefully align it on the cpu and it monves a little while tightening up the latch. But it's fine, manageable.

Other Thoughts: Unlike the very similar Xigmatek (who maybe make this one), you can take the fan off for cleaning the fins. Very important.

Great value if not overclocking a 95W cpu. The poor geek's choice for a 65W cpu or undervolted 95W cpu.

Otherwise, the 120mm fan model may be required. Unless you have one of those cpus that don't mind getting very hot. I aim to never exceed 50C with my old AM3 Athlons, anticipating hot days.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than I expected.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Instantly after installing the CPU was running about 15c cooler idle and over 20c cooler on load. It is also extremely quiet, if you're accustom to Stock CPU coolers, this will be silent by comparison.
Easy and relatively quick installation on AM3 socket. Comes with free thermal paste, which is surprising considering this cooler is almost the same price as decent paste.

Cons: The retention arm is somewhat finicky, and can be a pain to fit correctly. althoguh I did not need to remove my motherboard, people with tighter cases or less space between RAM slots might have to.

Other Thoughts: This was put in my partner's PC to replace the stock cooler on her Phenom II x4 as it was running as high as 65'c on load. Now it caps out at about 42'c on load which is a massive improvement. Once I buy a new motherboard & CPU for my partner I hope to take this Cooler along too,

5 out of 5 eggsstill works well after almost 2 years

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: i have bought 3 of these in the past because to put it nicely they do what they are supposed to. i happened to come back across these when snooping for something to finish off a build. one of those heat-sinks are actually with me today still chugging away. first review done 12/15/2011

Cons: out of 3 of these one had an occasional fan noise when started up. minor detail since it wasnt one of the original fans but rather a cheap one just to be on the other side as to run a push pull config. took the oddball fan and its still going strong

Other Thoughts: as for cpu temps im idling around 31*c or 82*f while writing this review (amd phenom 2 960t unlocked to 6core) after about 30 minutes of running 6 copies of cpu burn in its running at a whopping 40*c or 103*f room temp is 68*f you can convert the room temp if you feel it necesary, long story short
TLDR: cheap, reliable, works well.

2 out of 5 eggsGood Heatsink w/ Bad Retention Clip Design

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 is a good heatsink design. Low cost & it keeps my AMD CPUs running quiet and cool.
It installs fine, if you install the heatsink BEFORE you install the motherboard into the case.

Cons: You HAVE install the heatsink BEFORE you install the motherboard into the case. The Heatsink Retention Clip is an after thought. I have tried to install Hyper TX3 with the motherboard in the case & it's a pain in the rear! The last time I swapped CPUs, I got so mad I threw the heatsink!

Other Thoughts: A new Heatsink Retention Clip design on the Hyper TX3 it would be the perfect, low cost heatsink.

Manufacturer Response:
