3 out of 5 eggsDoes well, but not well enough...

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Installed easily and quickly. Mounting points are firm.

Cons: As a disclaimer, the CPU I purchased is apparently very difficult to cool, and this cooler just didn't make the cut.

I bought this to cool my Intel i7 4790K. Right off the bat, I had to disable Intel's "turbo boost" default overclocking in order to keep the CPU from peaking at 100C, which took only seconds.

This cooler can't keep up with high-end hardware.

Other Thoughts: I'd just buy a water cooling system next time.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: - Exposed heat pipes help vent
- Better than stock cooler
- Mounts for two fans included
- Included thermal paste

Cons: - Push pin mount
- Mount installation takes a little time

Other Thoughts: Used this to replace a 3 year old aestek factory sealed water cooling system (why would you factory seal a system? I have no idea, but aestek thought it was a good idea).

At any rate, I saw a temperature decrease of 12C while under load compared to the bad water cooler.

If you don't mind the mounts, this works great and will get the job done on a budget.

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Hyper TX3

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Very pleased with this decision. We used it on a F2A88XM - D3H Gigabyte board and the TX3 has mounting slots for the FM2+ mount that allows the fan to be oriented to pull air from Front to Back or Bottom to Top of case. Most of the Hyper coolers on a FM2+ require the fan be oriented for Bottom to Top flow, not the TX3. The Front to Back helped our Push/Pull case fan layout on our CoolerMaster N200. A solid buy for the money.

Cons: No Cons that we can think of.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Works fine. Lowered my stress temps from 70c to 49 to 50C. My idles around around 40C.

Cons: The clamps arent the best.

Other Thoughts: For $20 it works. I would get the EVO 212 if I could only pay $15 for it on sale.

5 out of 5 eggsNice budget cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Great cooler for the price. The stock cooler on the 860k I purchased for a budget build for my wife wasn't working very well. I didn't purchase an aftermarket cooler for overclocking purposes so this was perfect for me. Would have purchased a 212 EVO if I wanted to do some overclocking. Brought my temps down significantly. Also, the size is perfect for the mATX case I put it in, with a good inch and a half of clearance left. I was idling 45c-50c with stock cooler, and now I'm idling at 25c-30c in a fairly warm Southern California room.

Cons: Instructions aren't very clear, but anyone with decent tech experience should be able to figure out how to install one of these without any instructions. The AMD retention bracket seemed a little sketchy at first but it holds it down pretty well.

Other Thoughts: Xion 560 mATX Case
Athlon 860K

5 out of 5 eggsSignificantly cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: My temps on my i5 4670k have significantly decreased from 39c idle on stock cooler to about 28c idle using this cooler, my load temps have also dropped about 10c-15c

Cons: Installation was kinda sketchy. It installs the same way as the Intel stock cooler does which i don't think is as efficient as other coolers way of installation. It uses the clips that click into place and not screws or anything.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend this to AMD users because the installation looks very hard to do. I was able to do the installation without removing my motherboard from my case on my Intel chip but that doesn't seem feasible for AMD users because of how the AM3 latch thingy goes under the cooler itself

1 out of 5 eggsThe Good and the Badd

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: The cooler was cheap for me 22.99 + 2$ shipping.
The cooler works great idle temps at 18-23c gaming 43-50c really great compared to my stock cooler.

Cons: The Product was already open and someone had lost a screw from a bracket to the cpu cooler seems ok but id really like the screw to secure it to the cpu properly ,...-was returned once before I can tell because it is all stuffed and mucked up in the box sticker was ripped to seal it and the case when I picked it up from the box basically opend itself. The cooling compound was empty (someone used it ) Luckily I had some left over from another build. The missing screw and compound missing was the badd other then these plastic clips are hard to get in place.

Other Thoughts: If it had the screws and I wasent limping on one screw hoping the processor and base of the cooler will stay together,..and the cooling compound wasent already used by a previous person id be perfectly happy.

5 out of 5 eggsworks on AM3+

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Does a good job cooling. Fit in my Mid tower box. FX-8350 with a decent load. No issues so far. Held in place solidly by one big metal clip. Little feet to help stabilize it. Comes with silver thermal stuff.

Cons: Tight fit. I don't leave my computer case open any more, just in case it would somehow tip over into something other than a flat surface. Mobo is an ASUS M5A99FX it was a fairly tight fit.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty good

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Direct contact heatpipes, optional dual fan setup, comes with all the parts you could ever need for it.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Brought my CPU down 20 degrees (C) and now idles at 40 degrees. It brought it down 30 degrees while under load, from 90 degrees down to 60 degrees.

Cooler Master, as their name suggests, is the master of cool.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm happy

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Dropped my temps about 10-15C. I was idling around 45-50C with my Intel stock cooler (poor paste application, caked dust), hitting right up against thermal limits under load. Now sitting at 35C idle, 53C under max load.

Comes with a syringe of thermal paste instead of the little ketchup packets that some other coolers come with.

Thermal paste was pretty forgiving. I messed up locking the cooler in a few times but still have temps that make me happy.

Easy installation, pops and locks just like the Intel stock cooler, no need for a backplate.

Cons: Instructions are good, but don't really highlight the minor differences in mounting the Intel pylons for LGA 775 vs 1155/1156. There's a slight difference.

The fan will make it difficult to lock in two of the pylons if you have fat fingers.

Other Thoughts: I can't really say anything about the noise this cooler does/doesn't generate. My desktop has a 50dB 130cfm intake fan on the bottom that's always running at max speed, so the cooler's volume is irrelevant for me.
