4 out of 5 eggsFits AM3+ facing the exhaust - Great temps

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I purchased this as a temporary solution for my FX8320. It works wonderfully! And for all the people who think it can't be mounted to face the rear exhaust (AMD) LOOK at the mount! The bracket CAN thread through the heat pipes! It's a little awkward to close the clamp, but if you install the fan AFTER you mount it... it works fine. I tried the paste that comes with it and got temps around 55¤ on load with just the one fan. I went out and put some A.S.5 on it and was able to run Prime95 torture keeping steady temps of 50¤! Sound to me is a non issue.

Cons: Not a 212 EVO or H2O Cooling unit

5 out of 5 eggsGets it done

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: When running anything intense, the cpu (FX-6300) would spike north of 150F with the stock cooler. Since installing this, I haven't seen it go over 105F. During idle or standard computing the temp is in the low 80s. Being able to have the fan in either direction is quite useful as well. Both sets of mounting hardware for Intel/AMD included was a huge convenience.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: The height may be a bit too tall for a narrower case. I have the Antec Nine Hundred and it only has an inch or two of clearance from the side panel. Though the measurements are provided on the Cooler Master site so I made sure it would fit.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I extremely enjoy the quietness and coolness of this product's performance.

Cons: Non really. Easy to install, comes with a thermal paste, and looks sexy.

Other Thoughts: It looks really good.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: CPU temps on an i5 4460 with a 200MM case fan in an ITX case are impressively low.
Fits an 1150 socket great

Cons: Intel 1150 socket brackets snap in like the stock Intel cooler.
The R and L labels on the brackets are misleading, at least to me. I was better off just matching up the brackets the way I though it should go together and they installed fine.

Other Thoughts: When I first took this out of the box my first impression was this thing is not going to do a good job cooling with its tiny copper tubes and minimal aluminum fins. Fortunately I was so wrong, I am impressed how well it works so far.

I wish this bolted on for a more secure installation, I don't really like these snap-in style mother board connectors.

My CPU temps are 40C max after 1 hour of Prime 95 and 24C at idle at 22C ambient temperature.

4 out of 5 eggsReally Cools Things Down

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Really lowered my FX-6300 CPU temps from over 50c to less than 40c when running Civ 5.

Cons: Hard time installing the thing. Must have tried over 10 times but then when I got it right everything just snapped into place.
Weird.

1 out of 5 eggsA Real let down

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Fit in my htpc case

Cons: Fails to even match performance of stock cooler
Fan a little loud when under load

Other Thoughts: All I can say is that I found this cooler to be a major letdown, especially after the numerous rave reviews for its price/performance slot. I have an htpc setup in a silverstone gd10b(great case if you want to have the htpc experience, but also it can fit bigger vid cards if you want a system that can pack a punch and stay cool). I went with the xeon 1230v2 because of its price/power/performance level along with a lower operating temp. So, since it was possible I figured that I'd give it a cooling tower that while not top of the line, would fit in the case and work a bit better than the stock cooler. Much to my disappointment the TX 3 failed miserably, after multiple installs and thermal pastes(both arctic silver 5 and noctua nt-h1) just to make sure it was seated properly, the lowest temps I got it to run at were 50c idle and in the 90s when at load. The stock cooler from intel has me in the mid 30s at idle and never higher than 73 at load. Unfortunately, it costs nearly 2/3 of what I originally paid for the cooler to ship it back for a refund from NEWEGG. Not sure if I'll ever go with a coolermaster product again after this experience. I'll stick with the thermaltake, zalman, and noctua brands I've used in the past. They may be a bit pricier but they never failed to get the job done right.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Fan / Nightmare Install

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Works Well
Quiet (not important for me but some)

Cons: (Please see Other Thoguhts)

Absolute nightmare to Install unless you have 4 or more hands.

The installation bracket for the AMD CPU was flimsy, extremely difficult to attach properly. (It's in 2 pieces and needs to also go into grooves it likes to pop out of). Morever, when tightening, the unit likes to move off the die.

Instuctions were useless.

Other Thoughts: Caveat: I am not a hardware person and this is the first CPU Fan I've ever installed.

2 out of 5 eggsGood heatsinc, bad fan

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Excellent heatsinc, pulls a lot of heat off my overclocked FX-6350.
Only $20 when I bought it about 35-45 days ago

Cons: The fan started making a loud annoying clicking/grinding noise almost exactly one month after owning it.
Sounds like a small airplane coming in for a landing when on max speed.
Almost didn't fit in my mid-tower
CoolerMaster's support system

Other Thoughts: Since I started having problems with the fan after the newegg return date, I had the extreme misfortune of having to deal with CoolerMaster's support system. When I first tried to file a claim, the website didn't even work, and then when I did finally manage to file a claim they told me I would have to pay to ship the fan to them, THEN they would ship a new fan to me. Obviously I'm not paying $10 to ship a fan to them when I can order a new fan for $1 dollar more and get it many days sooner. Also they told me I would have to send them the fan before they sent me a fan, which would seriously compromise the cooling of my processor and would render my one and only computer inoperable until I received the new fan. Right now I'm trying to update my support claim but their website wont let me login. Such a great company.

Rated two out of five because even though it's a good heatsinc, it can't do much without a decent fan cooling it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Very nice, brought my processor temps way down.

Cons: Pretty big for a mid ATX case, very tight squeeze.

Other Thoughts: Awesome unit, no difference from the (EVO 92mm) that I can tell, and you pay much less.
