Cooler Master's RR-920-N520-GP "Hyper N520" combines a stylish, elegant design with silent operation and a brilliant cooling solution. Designed to cool the full range of current Intel Socket LGA 1366, 775 and AMD Socket (AM3/AM2+/AM2) processors, it does so with gusto. It features a unique split fin design that puts more surface area within the space cooled by over 43 CFM of airflow from the dual 92mm fans.

A selection of mounting components allow the user to obtain the optimal installation of the cooler to the motherboard so that the cooler's copper base is snug against the CPU's heat spreader. Five 6mm U-shaped copper heat pipes draw heat away from the processor up to the array of aluminum convection fins which they support. The heat is dispersed at a silent 19 dBA by the fan which spins on long-lasting sleeved bearings.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Ideal for AM3+ or 8 core CPUs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Allows for easy installation of second fan

Cons: Unable to efficiently dissipate heat from AMD3+ 8 core CPU during full load
Mounting attachment clip barely functional

Other Thoughts: Replaced the stock cooler on an AMD FX8320 with the Hyper TX3 expecting to lower CPU temps during gaming, however, it made no difference whatsoever. CPU temps remained at 53C for BF4 and quickly reached 64C during Prime 95 testing. Only after purchasing and installing a second fan on it for a push/pull configuration were decent results achieved - 46C during BF4 and 58C after 60 minutes of Prime 95. Also, it appears the attachment clip was hastily designed to allow installation on AM3+ sockets almost as an afterthought. The installation guide includes only LGA 1150 and AMD FM2 installations, and the sticker on the package reading "FM1/AM3+ Support" was obviously added later. Better products for cooling hotter running CPUs are certainly available. Hope this helps folks.

5 out of 5 eggsWoW

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Originally was going on my i7-3770, but couldn't fit in the case I had. Since I wasn't planning on OC, I sold it to a friend who has a AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz. With this cooler, he OC'd it to 4.3GHz, and peaked at 51c (123.8F). With an extra fan extension this offers, he hopes for 4.6GHz.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If you're on a budget, this is the obvious choice.

2 out of 5 eggsGradually gets hotter and hotter

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Looks great, fits in my mid-tower case, saw a 20°C decline in cpu core temp on full load (from 65°C to 45°C)

Cons: Slowly but surely, the temp of my cpu ran hotter and hotter each month. I run it at full load 24/7 and today it hit 82°C today! I've only had it for 3 months. The mb connections are terrible.. i could never get it to sit right. Needed more cfm air flow too.

Other Thoughts: I'm really disappointed. This thing was a pain. But I still like Cooler Master so I'm giving them another shot. I just ordered the TPC 612 to replace it. I'm hoping I have better luck this time!

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth the space and money

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: It looks great and the fan is big

Cons: Took several minutes to get it installed with mobo in case, might be a lot easier with mobo flat on table. Wonky lever lock assembly. Runs 7 degrees hotter than AMD factory cooler.

Other Thoughts: I'm throwing it away, but keeping the fan for my case.

5 out of 5 eggsGet 'em on sale

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Working great. No problems.
Got two on sale for twenty each.
Not so huge that you need to cut a hole in the side of a normal case to fit it in.

Cons: Very mild con: the instructions are very close to useless and the actual installation is a little awkward because of the way the latch goes together. Not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: If you know how to assemble a PC or have a reasonable level of mechanical aptitude you shouldn't have any trouble installing this.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Really takes off the heat
Comes with Thermal Compound

Cons: Brackets are a pain to install

Other Thoughts: This cooler dropped my CPU from 68+C to below 50C. Huge difference.

I ended up buying artic silver thermal compound, but this one does come with some from the manufacturer. I didn't use it, but given the quality of the cooler i'm sure it works pretty well.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: My Intel E5200 dual core used to run as high as 71C with the stock cooler doing ordinary things like virus scan. With this cooler, it doesn't go above 48C while running Prime95 torture tests. That is impressive.

Cons: none noted

Other Thoughts: I used Arctic Silver instead of the included Cooler Master thermal paste.

5 out of 5 eggsLol @ expensive liquid cooling

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Nearly 8,800 reviews and still averaging 5 stars? What more do you need. Solid 5-6 hour gaming sessions keep my Intel i7 4930k always under 45c and idles well under 35c. Of the hours I spent meticulously researching every component I put into this build, this item took about 4 minutes. Really though, find me another product with nearly 9,000 reviews and still @ 5 stars, that's insane.

Cons: Not a Complaint, just do your homework, or if you're like me, be lazy and just get a massive case so you don't have to worry about much. She is a big girl. I have about 1/2''-3/4'' clearance to the side of my NZXT Phantom case. I haven't tried to insert a fan on the side as the grill alone is sufficient for providing airflow but just from looking at it right here I don't think it would fit. If so a very tight squeeze.

Other Thoughts: As I mentioned I'm burning up 5-6 hours (I need a life) of straight gaming and have never seen my CPU over 42 degrees Celsius. Amazing price on this thing too!

Take the extra $80-$110+ you might have spent on liquid cooling and invest it in something that will immediately help your performance like your GPU or a larger capacity SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cools my i5-4670k with ease. no need to pay extra for the 212 when a real life study showed this one to have similar if not the same cooling potential.

Cons: i wish it had a backing bracket. call me crazy. but i like the extra support from the backing brackets rather than the simple Intel "snap locks"
