4 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Does awesome job with keeping CPU cool under load.
Flexible arrangement options. (multiple fan mount options, can set left/right or up/down airflow configuration)

Cons: Universal Mounting Bracket didn't fit the case.
Blade edges are sharp. Handle with care or you can cut yourself.

Other Thoughts: I took one egg off for the universal bracket. The AMD screw holes caused it to be too big for my case. I had to cut part of the sheeting in the case to get it to fit. Had this come with 2 seperate mounting brackets (one for Intel, one for AMD) this should have fit perfect and I would have had no issues. This turned a 30 minute tops process into a several hour process where I had to tear out the entire PC, mod my case, and rebuild it.

Otherwise, this heatsink is awesome. I'm running an i7 960 at full load and never getting over 50C. Now I have room to OC this baby!

4 out of 5 eggscools fine, but a bit big

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cools CPU better than stock fan.

Cons: Large fan and cooling fins. I can't use all of my RAM slots because the fan is in the way.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer LGA 1150 Intel Z97
RAM: CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 16GB

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: One of the best cost to performance cpu coolers out there.

Cons: I have yet to find any cons. Keep in mind though it is kind of big so measure your cases Before purchase.

Other Thoughts: The directions are in many languages but have very little info (to have all the different languages fit on the same size paper). most of the direction can be ambiguous and vague . But easy enough to figure out.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I purchased this in place of the stock cooler that came with my AMD FX-8350 processor at the urging of numerous reviews. That 8-core 4.0GHz CPU can can generate extreme heat under heavy load, but this cooler has done its job keeping it cool and safe.

Cons: The size of this thing is monstrous. It can take up a sizeable portion of your CPU-area vertically and horizontally when you factor in attaching the CPU fan to the heatsink. So long as you have the space for it, this isn't a big deal.

What is a big deal however is the way you mount it to the motherboard. The cooler itself doesn't mount, you have an external, small 4-arm'd mount (see picture for 'universal mounting solution') you have to synch up inside of the cooler. That part is no trouble, and pretty cool how it can adapt to multiple boards.
- What isn't cool is getting it attached to the mounting brackets. Putting one corner in, gently turning the screw so it would hold, then attaching another corner and repeating, that works fine. But when you attempt to get the other corners' screws in, you'll find they are slightly airborne- even with the pin still connected to the hole of the CPU cooler as it should be. This means you have to force the remaining corners down, and get the screw to turn to latch it in, and the CPU cooler itself is so huge it blocks easy access to the screw so that you have to hold a screwdriver at an angle as you apply force downward to get the screw to even make contact with the bracket.

It was a challenging install, but once everything is in place it works as it should.

5 out of 5 eggsA Godsend.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Keeps my CPU cool, which is very important to me, since I live in a desert.

Cons: Nitpicking: Very Large, instructions were hard for me to figure out.

Other Thoughts: Is a veritable godsend for desert dwellers.

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Looks Cool

Cons: Ran wayyy too hot!

Ran at 70C at idle on my stock clocked i7-860. Peeked at 99C under moderate load. Tried on another i7-860 and same result. Checked my installation and thermal compound application at least 10 times with same results. Used artic silver compound, same result. Was worried I installed wrong, so checked and rechecked installation 4 separate times. Same results.

Stock cooler from an i3 worked better than this on my i7.

Will be attempting to return.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome product

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I have two of these. One cooling a 2500K and the other my socket 1150 rig. You cant beat this for the price. Often listed for $20 with rebate its worth every penny. Totally impressed by the performance of this product, the simplicity of it, and the easy of installation.

Cons: Could include more of the little sticky rubber pads for future fan replacments.

Other Thoughts: The included fan is not bad but I always strap 1 or 2 AP-15's to mine.

5 out of 5 eggsBig Improvement over a stock fan

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: This is a great cooling solution for your CPU if you're on a budget or just need something better than what came with your CPU. I saw a 20°c decrease in CPU temps while playing games. And what's even better is that this is while I was overclocking my FX-8320 to 4 GHz! It never went over 52°c while OC'd.

Cons: If anything... I suppose if you've never installed an aftermarket CPU cooler, you might have a little trouble at first, but you can do it. That's really not even a con.
