Cooler Master's RR-920-N520-GP "Hyper N520" combines a stylish, elegant design with silent operation and a brilliant cooling solution. Designed to cool the full range of current Intel Socket LGA 1366, 775 and AMD Socket (AM3/AM2+/AM2) processors, it does so with gusto. It features a unique split fin design that puts more surface area within the space cooled by over 43 CFM of airflow from the dual 92mm fans.

A selection of mounting components allow the user to obtain the optimal installation of the cooler to the motherboard so that the cooler's copper base is snug against the CPU's heat spreader. Five 6mm U-shaped copper heat pipes draw heat away from the processor up to the array of aluminum convection fins which they support. The heat is dispersed at a silent 19 dBA by the fan which spins on long-lasting sleeved bearings.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation and Cooling Performance The copper base and 4 copper heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation area, plus dual 92mm, 1800RPM sleeve bearing fan to deliver optimal cooling performance.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The Cooler Master RR-920-N520-GP features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, and AM2 platforms, as well as the Intel LGA 775 and 1366 platform.

Cooler Master’s Hyper TX series has evolved with requirements of mainstream CPUs. The introduction of Hyper TX3 marks another milestone with Cooler Master's first-ever full compatibility - Intel LGA 1156 socket. The Hyper TX3 also brings back the "original" direct contact heat-pipe design from Cooler Master.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 features "heatpipe direct contact" technology for efficient heat conduction, plus high-density aluminum fins for maximum heat dissipation. The 92mm fan runs efficiently to deliver unparalleled cooling performance.
  • newegg Expandable for a Second Fan Add a 2nd cooling fan (optional) to the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 to achieve the best possible cooling performance!
  • newegg PWM Function The PWM function automatically adjusts fan speeds according to the CPU temperature for efficient cooling and minimized fan noise.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility The Cooler Master Hyper TX3 features broad compatibility with AMD socket 754, 939, 940, and AM2 platforms, as well as Intel LGA 775 and 1156 platforms.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

Unmatched performance for the value, these are the tenants that guided Cooler Master engineers when designing the Hyper 212 EVO. Patented Continuous Direct Contact (CDC) technology ensures that the heat pipes are free of barriers while drawing heat away from the processor. A PWM fan ensures that fan speed can be intelligently controlled to ensure that it only speeds up when more cooling is necessary.

5 out of 5 eggsfollow-up

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cheap. Keeps my FX-6300 cool at 4500 MHz.

Cons: Big. Poor stock fan.

Other Thoughts: Follow up. I got a new mobo and a new fan (CM Jetflo 120) and upped my FX-6300 to 4500 MHz at 1.425V. In Prime95 max heat test, I top out at about 67C in a 25C room. Hot, but not unreasonable. With a more reasonable "full" load (cpuminer) I top out at about 50C. Five stars for this cooler, and with a second fan I expect it to be even better.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: -Decrease temps
-Increase in core clock

Cons: large but fit my tight mid case

5 out of 5 eggsJust look at the reviews

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: This is my first aftermarket piece of CPU cooling hardware and it does what it's supposed to do--keep the CPU cool. Now I haven't compared the temperatures with the stock cooler, but according to online forums and from those I know, this cooler actually helps a lot. I have a 4670K and being a Haswell, it naturally runs hotter than Ivy Bridge, so I went with an aftermarket cooler even though I probably won't be overclocking in the near future (why I bought a K series processor--micro center CPU/MOBO combo sale $300 for 4670K and MSI Gaming 5!!!) My temps under a consistent load (playing Rome 2 Total War for 4+ hours nonstop) I never saw my temps go more that 55 Celsius. I haven't tried a push and pull configuration, but will probably do so in a month or so (no real need to though, seeing temps really stable)

Cons: None at all!!!

Might cause concern with the fan interfering with the RAM slots, so I placed the fan in a pull configuration. On second thought, I could have put it in the push configuration, since I'm using the memory slots furthest away from the CPU.

Other Thoughts: I honestly got this just for my peace of mind, seeing that I wasn't going to overclock. For anyone it might help, I used the "pea method" of applying the thermal paste. If you need any help in this matter or for any process of building your PC, I suggest watching the Newegg PC building videos--very helpful.

4 out of 5 eggsgreat addon and easy to complete!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: any one can put this on (can they take apart their current set up is a diff story).
parts are all easy to figure out (even if you don't look at the instructions but it's not recommended for any thing u do IMO).
price was the best!
heatsink are well placed and not cheap
over all a great product IMO.

Cons: instructions had about 30 diff languages on them, lol j/k. but too many.
about 2 mm too tall as I barely got it to fit in an OrigenAE s21T case.

Other Thoughts: This was WAY easier and better priced than the ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED. That thing was a pain.

I have yet to check on temp of CPU and board after upgrade.

5 out of 5 eggsBest budget cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Disappates heat well
Super easy installation
Fan is quiet when on lower settings
$20 on sale!

Cons: Probably not enough for higher wattage chips
Pretty tall and needs a wider case to fit

Other Thoughts: The Hyper 212+ is known to be the go-to air cooler for budget or low wattage overclocking. I installed this on a G3258 and pushing 1.4V through the chip temps never went above 80C on quiet fan settings.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler for almost all CPU's

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Fairly easy to install. Cheap. Works Great. Keeps my OC athlon x4 750k (4.3 Ghz) Under 50 Celcius under load

Cons: Large

Other Thoughts: This is a great and cheap cooler. My only issue is that it is fairly large and I had to adjust the fan so it didn't hit my ram and the entire cooler hover about 1/2 a cm over my ram but my temps are good. Overall, great cooler, buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsRuns great, even fanless!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I installed this without a fan on my Haswell G3420, and even fanless my idle temps are about 32C, my Prime95 temps are 60C, and running Prime95 and a GPU benchmark on the integrated-GPU simultaniously rarely gets the processor to 70C. I was expecting to have to delid my processor and buy fancy thermal grease in order to run fanless, but it wasn't necessary. Great for silent computing!

Cons: There are large gaps between the heat pipes, which I had to fill with thermal grease before mounting (I applied the grease and then scraped it off from the flat areas with a credit card before applying more grease using the pea method). On Intel chips the heatsink has to be installed 90-degrees from the normal orientation or only two heat pipes will touch the hot area of the chip (the long dimension of the heatsink should run parallel to the PCI slots and perpendicular to the RAM slots).

Other Thoughts: If the Hyper 212 EVO is the same price or cheaper I'd go for that, as it has much smaller gaps between the heat pipes, but if the 212 Plus is $10 cheaper (as it was last week) it's a viable option if you don't have a really hot processor. Just make sure to mount it with the long dimension parallel to the PCI slots.

Pros: Before temps:

2 out of 5 eggsMay short out your motherboard

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Great cooler for the money
Worked fine for my old AM3 build

Cons: May short your motherboard

Other Thoughts: Built my friend a computer and it wouldn't boot. Pulled my hair out trying to diagnose the issue until I found out that some people have been having issues questioning if the Hyper 212+ was shorting out their motherboard. I removed the cooler and put the stock back on and everything was fine.

I toss this cooler in my own PC and it shorted out my motherboard instantly causing it to cycle on and off every few seconds. I don't know if it's the metal standoffs or what but the design has serious shorting capabilities. And for whatever reason the metal standoffs were different sized from the hyper 212+ that I had years ago on my AMD build which didn't cause me any problems.

If you do order a Hyper 212, I would recommend rubber coating it.
