5 out of 5 eggsDoes what's supposed to

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: -Inexpensive
-Much better cooling that a stock cooler
-Pretty quiet

Cons: -Instructions aren't exactly great
-Installation can be a little fiddly for AM3+

Other Thoughts: I've used several 212 EVOs in the past for various builds and decided to use the 212 Plus for a budget AMD machine. It's basically the same as an EVO, and it's a bit cheaper. It works very well. Getting the retention brace through the cooler itself for the narrower AM3+ socket was more involved than accomplishing the same task for LGA 115X. But It wasn't a big deal.

4 out of 5 eggsServes its purpose

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Does a good job at keeping your CPU cool and is very quiet.

Cons: Installation can be a pain if you don't have a lot of room to work with. Also because of the size of the heat sink, it can block access to the ram slots on certain motherboards.

Other Thoughts: This thing is listed as 158.5mm and is touching the side panel on my NZXT Source 210, which has 160mm clearance.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Works great on my Intel i5 processor. Even at load my i5 gets a max temp of 45 degress

Cons: Fan started making noises after about 6 months of ownership. Not really a big deal for me as the machine itself is in a cabinet that has an open back.

Other Thoughts: Consider purchasing a different fan from the fan that comes with as it seems that several people have commented about the fan making noise.

5 out of 5 eggsSome what hard to install first try

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Keeps my computer from over heating

Cons: The fans will spin at a very low speed if do not set in bios to run full blast at 30C or what ever set you feel is mark to run full speed for me I always want full speed.

Not really anything bad to say really.

Other Thoughts: Motherboard bracket has to be tight or else you will have to re do everything being if you have to redo anything with the heat sink your nuts will fall right off. I used 2 pare of pliers and tightened them. Overall its only hard the first try second try its easy.

5 out of 5 eggsGood air cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Keeps processor cool and does so quietly. Cheap.

Cons: This thing is a pain in the rear to install. I have installed it on a 1155 and a AM3+ motherboard and it was a pain to get it to set right. Other than that its a great cooler

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan for the price

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: After running my FX-8320 with its stock fan for a while I realized I had to purchase an aftermarket fan. Looked around the web and people recommended this one, and its absolutely worth the price.

Cons: It's possible around 2-3 times bigger than the stock fan for my AMD processor, and it barely fit my case, but regardless it does the work and it's nearly silent now.It was also a bit bulky to install, but that's because my case it a relatively small mid-tower. Despite the size, however, I would not really consider it a very big con, because it does EXACTLY what it should do.

Other Thoughts: If you have, or are planning to purchase, a AMD FX processor, and if you do not want to spend too much money on watercooling etc. - buy this fan, it'll be worth your while. Make sure it fits in your case! I didn't, and I was pretty lucky it fit.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Conduces heat away from the CPU very well. Large fan keeps noise down.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've had this heatsink running for a few years now, with my PC up and running almost 24/7. It has kept my Phenom 9850 quite cool, and hasn't developed any strange noises. It's pretty easy to clean, as well. I have it installed in an Antec Three Hundred case, so no clearance issues, and works very well along with the case's top fan to exhaust warm air.

Oh, and no bent motherboard like an earlier reviewer had posted. 2 years.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good for an "older" model

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Direct Contact heat pipes.
Keeps my FX-8350 at 55C all cores at max load with standard thermal paste that came with product. (stock clock speeds)
15C-30C idle

Cons: A little on the noisy side, surprisingly audible along with the 5 case fans I'm using.

Other Thoughts: Didn't check the dimensions of my case clearly. Does fit just barely, fits perfectly if I rotate it.
Heat pipes aren't all together like on the EVO.

5 out of 5 eggsWait what?

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Hands down best cooler for the money. Its the original CM 212+ Quiet, fan is quieter then the EVO (which has more static pressure). I have not found a cooler that works better for under $45.

Cons: The mounting take some steady hand work. Also some cases are not wide enough.

Other Thoughts: This is the original "go to" cooler. Sure they have made some improvements with the newer models but this is adequate for over clocking a i5 or i7 to 4.4ghz and will keep it under 72c with prime

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Entry Level Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: -Cheap
-i54690k 53C under load, stock speeds for now

Cons: -Noticeable fan noise even when idle

Other Thoughts: If you just want something better than the stock cooler, this does the job, but if you want something quiet look for something else.
