5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: My old CPU + Motherboard was constantly overheating (~80C) and i figured both of them were done for, but I'd try the low cost approach first with this CPU cooler. Instantly reduced my CPU temp to ~30-40C (applying a new thermal paste also helped) which means no need for an entire system replacement. Definitely worth it for the price.

Cons: Installation was a bit confusing at first since I've only used stock coolers.

4 out of 5 eggsBig and cools well

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Capability to establish dual-fan cooling. 120mm fan included. Mounting system is flexible to support Intel and AMD platforms. Lowered temperatures versus the stock Intel cooler. Price-to-performance ratio (after rebate) is very hard to beat.

Cons: This cooler is gargantuan compared to included OEM solutions. Be sure to measure clearance in your case before buying and installed. It barely fit in my Corsair case. Included cooling fan, while quiet, is louder than expected. Mounting can be a challenge while aligning the crossbar and backplate. Process is made easier if the case has the necessary cutout on the motherboard tray to install the cooler without removing the system board.

Other Thoughts: As others have previously noted, be sure to ensure you have adequate clearance from the height and width perspective before ordering. While the EVO 212 may be a step up from the Hyper 212 Plus, the price differential (when rebates are active) provides the edge to the Hyper 212 Plus in most scenarios.

5 out of 5 eggsCool Master

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Easy install, can relocate fan, keeps my cpu ice cold, and whisper quite even under load.

Cons: None, but keep in mind that this heatsink is huge.

Other Thoughts: Will be buying another one soon when I build my new computer.

2 out of 5 eggsIt can move.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: It. can cool pretty well if the computer sits on its side.

Cons: Sitting upright, the cooler can come free of the processor, something I noticed before I turned it on, thankfully. Even when it is bolted down, it can..wiggle with about 20 degrees of motion. I am not the only one to report this, many others have as well, and it comes from the design of the cooler. The only way I've found it to hold stead fast is if I adjust it to only cover 80 percent of the processor, and it looks really messed up. Go with the EVO.

5 out of 5 eggsNight & Day

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: -Easy to install
-Comes with thermal paste (would not use)
-Tried and True

Cons: -Size. I have a full ATX case so it was no problem, but smaller cases might.

Other Thoughts: Bought this because my stock cooler on the FX-8320 was starting to sound like a plane taking off when under any kind of decent load. Idle was around 30-36 degrees Celsius. Replaced with this and idle is anywhere from 8-16 degrees Celsius and the dB output is night and day. FANTASTIC product.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I bought this cooler to replace my liquid cooler that came with my 8350. I know it sounds crazy, but the liquid cooler was way too loud & the temps weren't good at all even at stock speeds. I am sooooo glad I did, because this cooler (I kid you not) performs better than the liquid cooler it replaced! I'm getting 10C at idle, 30-40C while gaming & 55C (max) while rendering. That's incredible! While rendering, the liquid cooler would reach 78C at times!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I have this cooler setup in a push/pull configuration, so I really can't comment on how it performs with just one fan. My 8350 is clocked at 4.5GHz, and I'm getting temps mentioned in the pros section. I could not be more pleased! This cooler is so quit - I can barely hear it above my case fans. If you're looking for a cheap CPU cooler that will allow you to perform a mild overclock, then this is diffidently a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat heatsink

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Does it's job well.

Cons: Sharp fins, be careful. It is massive, in my old mid ATX case it touched the side door inside.

Other Thoughts: With a fan on both sides I've had temperatures as low as 8°C while idle (AMD FX-8320). This was in the Rosewill Throne case.

5 out of 5 eggsSuper COOL!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Use this on my Intel Core i5-3350P Ivy Bridge Quad-Core 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 and couldn't be happier.
IMO best price point for CPU fans (at the time of purchase).
Very quiet when on low and can blast on high speed.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Black Friday deal so I couldn't be happier!
