When ultra-high performance coolers demand additional performance, count on Blade Master PWM fan series to increase cooling efficiency. Blade Master offers a balance of high air pressure with balanced airflow and minimal noise levels. With the Blade Master family of 120mm, 92mm, and 80mm fans, unique wave-form blades create increased pressure that exceeds competitor fans at the same airflow. The highest air pressure allows Blade Master fans to blow directly through dense performance heat sinks for extreme cooling.

  • newegg High Performance Featuring distinguished wave-shaped blades, the COOLER MASTER R4-BM8S-30PK-R0 provides up to 4.23 mmH2O of air pressure that triumphs over competitors at the same air flow for better cooling performance.
  • newegg Silent Operation The PWM fan with adjustable fan speed ranging from 800 - 3000 R.P.M guarantees the best ratio between performance and noise level. The anti-vibration rubber pads around the edges dampen noise for more quiet operation.

4 out of 5 eggsIt blows!

Pros: The fan does move a lot of air, even at half speed.

Cons: It is noisy at 100% speed, but that is to be expected with this fan. I found that with my system, keeping it at about 60% speed will get me the best air flow before the noise becomes an annoyance. I imagine that better mounting hardware and more solid case would reduce some of the noise.

Other Thoughts: This fan is perfectly adequate for my system.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: They move a lot of air, for their size. Variable speed. No LED. (I hate lights.)

Cons: Power cables are surprisingly short. If you put these into a Cooler Master HAF XB, you're almost guaranteed needing to buy 4pin extensions. Unless you connect them via molex adapter (which they don't come with). If you do that, see next con. Minus an egg.

Loud at high speed. This is to be expected, especially for an 80 mm fan. The details page says 28 dba at 3,000 rpm. That is absolute bunk. I'd say more like mid to high 30's dba. However, I'm not going to take an egg for their noise level.

A few of the frame screw holes split a small amount while I was mounting them. Minus an egg.

Other Thoughts: These are simply too loud at full speed. I'm going to have to buy some extensions and connect them to my motherboard and limit their speed to somewhere around 1,000 - 1,400 rpm. That will obviously reduce the amount of air they move. Adding filters will reduce it even further but that's a trade off I'm willing to make.

3 out of 5 eggsOkay fan.

Pros: -PWM.
-Good air flow.

Cons: -Does get loud at max RPM.
-Not as cheap as I feel it should be.

Other Thoughts: "Long life sleeve"... Long life compared to what? A Mayfly?

I bought 2 of these for a small server and a year later they're already rattling around.

Obviously YMMV based on your usage. I've been running them near continuously for the past year so that may factor heavily but I didn't expect them to fail this soon. CoolerMaster generally makes quality product so it's a bit disappointing...

I have 4 CoolerMaster ball bearing 80mms that I use as a heat exhaust system for a cabinet that have run nearly non-stop for the better part of the last 6 years and they run as silent and smooth as the day I installed them... Heck they are so old that the CM stickers have fallen off the hubs! Granted they are much lower RPM/CFM but it speaks to the general quality of CM's fans.

4 out of 5 eggsNice PWM 80mm fan

Pros: Inexpensive ($10 with free shipping w/ Iron Egg Guarantee), includes foam pads for fan mounts, fairly good air flow, 4-pin PWM connector.

Cons: Sightly louder for my taste, even with the PWM control. Also, I expected slightly higher quality from Cooler Master, but hey.

Other Thoughts: Overall, good fan. I liked the 4 pin, though make sure your motherboard supports 4 pin connection. Depending on your tolerance for sound, it might be loud, but for me, my 90mm fan drowns out the 80mm when both are on.

5 out of 5 eggs4-pin PWM fan = works

Pros: Installed as case fans, they'll move a good amount of air if installed properly.

Quiet! Installed, turned on and didn't even think they were running. Then I set my BIOS to disable fan control to run them at full speed.. noticeable, but didn't seem loud at all. The fan on my GPU under load is louder.

Cons: Cable could maybe be slightly longer for larger cases with smaller boards, but I didn't have a problem with mine as it's a full-size ATX case and motherboard.

Seems as though the PWM speed control minimum is about 800 RPM. My BIOS supports turning down the fans completely under no load. That is set, but they still run at 800 RPM. Definitely not a deal breaker though, can't even hear them at this level.

Other Thoughts: Ordered two, got them both installed in under ten minutes.

Pay attention before you buy, these are 4-pin with PWM control for motherboard fan headers.

2 out of 5 eggsGood while it works

Pros: Is decent while it works.

Cons: Very loud whining after a few months. Not recommended.

Other Thoughts: Case fan works well when new. Now, at 6+ months, it will sometimes whine like a banshee. At first I thought it was my furnace, but turned out to be this fan.

I'm with you Greg Parent; I remember when the CoolerMaster name meant something. Now it just seems to be shoddy merchandise in nice packaging.

Manufacturer Response:

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: At level 4 fan setting it's quiet
At 5 it's noticable
At 7 it starts to be loud.

1 out of 5 eggsCoolerMaster Made This Junk??

Pros: Were quiet as advertised for 45 days.

Cons: After 45 days, I actually had to unplug one of the fans because it sounded like a weedwacker was in my case. No kidding, my wife came downstairs to ask what the noise was! Fortunately the other one I put in is only one third as loud so it still gets to run until I can find better fans.

Other Thoughts: Oh, and the other two fans (I bought four at once based on the name brand) will never see the inside of a case. I remember when the CoolerMaster name meant something. Guess I'll go shopping for Zalman instead.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Greg Parent, we are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with our case fans. Please make sure to keep the fans clean of dust. Dust can cause many issues including rattling. Moreover, the fans in question have warranty. Please contact us via the Live Chat link below so we can get the fans replaced. Respectfully - CMUSA Customer Support.
