3 out of 5 eggsWhat is this thing made of?!

Pros: -Fairly quiet
-Good airflow for a low noise fan

Cons: -The material it's made out of! See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: OK, this fan is a good fan and Cooler Master is a pretty good brand. The issue I had, with both the included screws and the ones in the case, is that they would only go so far and stop. The difficulty getting them in took off 2 whole eggs for me.

It's made out of a glossy black material rather than the standard matte finish most fans have. It's also a harder material. While I've had to put a little extra oomph when tightening a fan screw with a screwdriver, I've never had to break out a power tool. This one made me do so.

I finally put my phillips head bit in my cordless drill, put a block of plastic behind the fan and every so lightly hold the trigger while pushing to keep it from routing out the screw. Finally got them in and, well, at least it's not going anywhere!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: The best fan I find that would fit in the Haf X 942 GPU holder. Silent. This along with 12 other fans and the water 2.0 extreme keep my all my temps average below 27 at idol and below 40 at full load

Cons: Wish it moved more air but for 15mm thickness it does pretty well.

2 out of 5 eggsGood when it worked

Pros: it did the trick for a while

Cons: Fan only lasted about 8 months then started making an unbearing grating noise. It appears that the blades of the fan are too large for the fan encasement. After a while the bearing gets looser and the fan blades become more unstable. When this happens they scrape again anything close to them and make a loud grating noise. Bad design....

Other Thoughts: Sadly it doesn't seem like there are too many reliable 80 x 15 mm slim fans out there. This one might be your best option unfortunately.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi grimsfield,

We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the fan. Where are you plugging the fan into, power supply or motherboard? Running the fan at full speed will shorten the life span of the fan. If the fan is under warranty, you can get it replaced. If you have any questions, please contact us on live chat.

Respectfully,

3 out of 5 eggsLoud - but could be the location

Pros: Fits the side of my Cool Master 692 Advanced. Its slim.

Cons: Coolermaster is great on building nice products - but the worst when it comes to fulfilling rebates. Its been months and I'm still waiting to hear back from them on not 1 but 2 rebates. What are the odds?

Other Thoughts: Love my case and its been super quiet running on all Cooler Master fans (5 to be exact). I added this one to the side of my case (fan #6) and this one fan is a LOT LOUDER than all the others combined.

In all fairness, it might not be the fan but the location of the case where this fan is designed to go. Not a lot of room for air flow on the case's right side - so I'm guessing its creating some kind of back pressure and that is what "could" be causing excessive noise.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi CrystalMedia,

We are sorry to hear of your trouble with the case fan. Where did you purchase the case fan? The rebates is handled by a rebate house separate from Cooler Master. If you purchased from NewEgg please contact Status Now (http://status-now.com/ General rebate issues/rebate tracking). If you have any questions, please contact us on live chat.

5 out of 5 eggsOnly 15mm thick fan I found

Pros: It works (I haven't put my hand behind it to check for airflow, but it spins, and I think it's blowing air).

It was the ONLY 80mm x 80mm x 15mm fan I could find on Newegg; most are 25mm thick, not 15mm. I needed 15mm thickness for the Cooler Master HAF X GPU Holder fan.

Cons: None that I know of.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned above, it fits in the Cooler Master HAF X Case's GPU Holder bracket. That means it cools my video card.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as expected.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: It is a bit loud, but at these sizes most are. Using with a fan controller, so this is not an issue for me.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fan

Pros: -The fan is very quiet
-Fan fits perfectly into the CPU rear area of the CM690

Cons: -Sleeve design will fail after a while.

Other Thoughts: This fan was designed to cool the rear of the CPU/ MB on the CM690 case. If you use it for any other purpose, keep in mind that you are using it for something it wasn't necessarily designed to do.
