3 out of 5 eggsSo-So

Pros: Effective at cooling. Install was not too complicated.

Cons: Noise. This thing is loud. No other way to put it. It works fine to cool my i5 and keeps it far away from the red zone. However, I have to power down my computer at night, otherwise this thing might just keep me up all night with that fan sound. I am not a high-brow geek or tech-snob. I am just reporting my user experience as faithfully as possible.

3 out of 5 eggsNice But

Pros: fairly quiet
well built
secure and easy mounting

Cons: I'm finding more motherboards are not able to control the 3 wire CPU fans. They can support 3 wire Chassis fans just fine, but not supporting PWM (4th wire), this fan is just running at max RPM all the time.

Other Thoughts: I wish there was a 4 wire equivalent

1 out of 5 eggstoo small!!

Pros: since i am very dissapointed in this item, i didnt get to use it much. cant say what is good about it

Cons: this was a waste of time and effort. the cooler piece is too small and does not screw in to the motherboard. no size description on the site, nothing useful on the box!

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Yan,

We are sorry to hear of your trouble with the cpu cooler. Can you clarify more on the issue you are having with the cpu cooler? The coolers' socket is LGA 1155/1156, as we needt o know what motherboard you have. Please contact us on live chat so we can get this issue resolved. I've provided a link below for your reference.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works, I guess?

Pros: It works as advertised and cools slightly more than a stock Intel heatsink will. The power wires are bound together and are probably much harder to get caught in the fan and rip themselves out than on a stock Intel (which is what ruined my older heatsink, hence buying this replacement)

Cons: Really difficult install. The screws take a lot of force to hold down to initially get in place and it took a lot of time to get ready. At least it's really secured on, though that's usually not an issue anyways. It's also much louder than the stock Intel heatsink which was nearly silent but I can deal with it.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant Fan

Pros: If you are looking for an upgrade over the OEM fan that comes with the Intel Processor, this is a great choice. Over sized and quiet. I have used many of these fans in custom builds and have never had an issue with them. What more can you ask for?

Cons: NONE

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent replacement for stock

Pros: Superior attachment mechanism, inexpensive, simple to install, tight "OEM" fit.

Cons: No documentation at all (how tight can you screw the screws?) What's the heat sink compound?

Other Thoughts: The Intel OEM CPU coolers use a rivet-type plastic fastener that is hard to get on and easily can pop out and cause thermal problems. This cooler solves this completely with threaded screws for attachment and a mounting plate with threaded sockets that sits on the back side of the motherboard. Fit is precise, no slop or overlap. How tight to screw the heat sink is a mystery; the screws are sprung (tighter compresses the springs). Pre-coated (and covered with a protective plastic shell) with heatsink compound; I put silver on the CPU as well.

Power connector is keyed, three-pin but the OEM model is four, I don't know yet if this means any missing fan speed/control or other thermal management issues (no docs at all).

This product should be provided as the stock CPU cooler, fortunately its well made an inexpensive enough to just be the default replacement without adding much cost. Docs would be nice, but aren't necessary.

2 out of 5 eggsWould have been nice to know...

Pros: Good heat-sink and fan if it will work for your CPU. Screw on bracket versus clip on. Gave it 2 stars for those two factors alone.

Cons: Would have been nice to know it didn't work for 95watt i7 processors before I purchased and installed it. Almost gave it 1 star because of poor product info.

Other Thoughts: If you have an i3 or i5 this product is for you. If you have an i7, keep looking.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Mlk18 - We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Please contact us via the Live Chat link below so we can rectify the situation. Respectfully - CMUSA Customer Support.

5 out of 5 eggsDear Cooler Master Rep

Pros: I own 5 of the LGA 775 version of this cooler.
When can I get the 95 watt version of this cooler in the LGA 1155 version (DP6-9HDSA-0L-GP)?
The screw down cooler master cpu coolers are the only kind I will use.

Cons: I need this cooler with the 95 watt cpu cooling abilities.
