5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Great cooler functions very well and is easy to install when you are in the build process, but when you are replacing an older cooler be prepared to remove the motherboard.

Cons: Be warned this thing is big real big.

5 out of 5 eggsimpressed

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: large diameter for heat displacement
high quality construction
solid yet easy attach/removal of fan/fans
not as loud when when using push pull configuration
i would recommend this cooler

Cons: it is tall, but has to be for the large diameter area
for heat displacement.

Required the closest ram stick to have have the tall sleeves.

Other Thoughts: still a great heatsink
and the con's are not worthy of any -eggs.

the temp from the asus sensor to the lowest fins of the
heatsink drops the temp over 15c
it should be doto the size or just how well it displaces heat

my max temp with my fx-8350 was
55c. MAX."at cpu" 30c idle "at cpu"

5 out of 5 eggsA substantial upgrade over a stock Intel cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I installed this yesterday and according to HWMonitor, temps under a stress test dropped from high 80C to maxing out at 65C, lowering my max temps by about 25C over the stock Intel cooler. In other CPU-taxing games, temps barely get to 60C. On top of that, it is significantly quieter than the Intel cooler.

From what I've seen, spending $75 for a Noctua will only get you 1-3C additional cooling, so the Evo (at around $30) is one of the better investments you can make.

Cons: It is very large and may interfere with RAM chips and other things on your motherboard. It is raised up off of it somewhat, but that just means you need more width in your case to accommodate it as well.

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Dropped my temps 20 degrees under heavy load. Will allow for a good deal of overclocking.

Cons: Been stated 1,000 times before, but it's kind of large. This isn't a con unless you have a small case. It you have an ATX mid, it may take up space for a case fan.

Other Thoughts: If you do anything more than browse Youtube and check email, and don't plan to max your overclock, this is the perfect cooling solution. Buy it. Now.

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: This heatsink lowered my CPU temperature by over 40° C! The stock heatsink/fan included with my Intel Core i7 processor just wasn't doing the job. In fact, my system was shutting itself off because the CPU was getting so hot. After making this upgrade about 10 months ago, my system has been running flawlessly ever since.

Cons: The installation process was a bit trickier than I was expecting. Since my system was already built, I definitely was not anticipating that I would have to completely remove my motherboard from my case to install the mounting bracket. Also, this thing just BARELY fits in my case. I only have about a quarter-inch to spare between the top of the heatsink/fan assembly and the side door of my Antec case.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Have had this thing for about 2-3 years, and temps are still staying at 28C. Goes up to 32, never passed while on load. Great cooler. Very quiet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great cooler, would recommend to everyone.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great, Beware of Size

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Works like a charm. Used this to replace the stock fan/heatsink that came with my AMD Fx-8350. The stock cooler was loud and temps would hover around 60c. After installing this temps are down to 35c under load and it's quieter than the fans in the case.

Cons: It's huge. I actually had a couple problems due to the size. I have an Antec 900 case and had a fan on the side window. This thing sticks out so far I had to take that fan off just to close the case. I used the fan on the other side of the heatsink with the included brackets but still was not expecting it. Also, with it pointed horizontally the heatsink covers one of my ram slots. I didn't have to remove the ram but I will have to move the heatsink if I ever replace that stick.

Other Thoughts: Even with my space problems I still recommend this product. I bought it for 2 reasons (more cooling and less noise) and it accomplished both of these things fantastically. Just be aware of it's size before you buy.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job and then some, must be patient to install

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Bought this to cool an i5-4670, not an overclocked i5-4670K. Just hated the stock Intel cooler, especially the mounting pins that get jammed. Prefer actual screws and this cooler uses screws and secures nicely tot he motherboard..

For an non-overclocked machine this is overkill, but it is robust and gives lots of cushion. I believe that even if the fan failed, the large heatsink would still keep the processor cool enough to prevent damage.

For me, under normal use, it runs between 28 and 32 degrees Celsius most of the time. Stressed the system by running Prime95, the CPU temp plateaued between 42 and 45 C after 12 minutes. Never went any higher, and really never got noisy.

In my application, it is quiet and inaudible. I have a Corsair Obsidian 550d Silent Case. The buzzing from my computer speakers is louder than the cooler and three other case funder normal load.

Cons: It is tall, so it won't fit just any case, and it must be oriented just so to keep from interfering with tall ram. It would not clear my DRAM if oriented differently on my motherboard. As it is, I may have 3mm of clearance to the side my tall DRAM modules.

It is best to install the cooler onto the motherboard, BEFORE you mount the motherboard into the case. My case does have back panel access, but I found it much easier to do the install free of the case.

The bracket to hold the unit over the CPU is sturdy, but getting it right takes patience. Don't hurry, and read the directions closely, and you should do fine.

Other Thoughts: Really like this cooler and definitely recommend it

5 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Quiet!
The height of the fan can be adjusted a bit to clear your RAM.
Can be installed in any direction.
Temp doesn't get over 50°C in a 26°C (79°F) room, running Prime95 with stock clock. Fan makes a barely-noticeable whir at that level.
Retail packaging was good enough to protect it completely in a crushed shipping box.

Cons: Installation instructions were sufficient, but not great.
Had to put an alarming amount of pressure on my mobo to get the last couple of screws started.

Other Thoughts: Mobo - Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
CPU - Phenom II X4 980 BE
Case - Antec Three Hundred Two

Total height from mobo to the tips of the heat pipes is 169mm. Bottom of cooler (RAM clearance) is about 45mm off mobo.
