5 out of 5 eggsCool, but... HUGE

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: The thing keeps my AMD 8350 nice and cool, no worries about it overheating, the thing truly is a beast. Got the huge box, thought to myself, it's just the box, pull out the heatsink, it's not just the box, the thing is massive.

Cons: Not enough to take an egg away imo... But you can't expect to use all your DIMM slots with this thing. It'll block the one closest to your CPU... And depending on your mobo and profile of your RAM, you may run into issues completely with it. You may want to figure out a different way to face it to work around this issue.

Also... The guide is as cryptic as ever.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Really great cooler. Got something like 12-14degC decrease in idle temp on my CPU, and about 30degC decrease when under full load. (Granted, I also got a new case with better airflow along with this cooler, so it's probable that it's not ONLY the cooler doing the work there.)

I like that there are springs on the screws - less stressing out about whether I'm over-tightening anything.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Installation (especially on an AMD motherboard where you'll have to replace backplates, etc) is a little crazy compared to what I've used in the past, but that seems to be the standard nowadays, and in the end it makes sense that cooler manufacturers would want to be able to sell the same product for all manner of mainboards, so that's just how it is nowadays. There are several youtube vids of installation of these kinds of coolers, so just search around if it's confusing.

Also, this (like nearly all of the other common coolers on the market right now) is a pretty gigantic monster. Especially if you're on an older case, make sure you've got enough room for this thing; my old full tower case turned out to be slightly not wide enough to support coolers in this class.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Amazing temps.
Back plate for a solid pressure seating.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Upgrading from a sunbeam core contact freezer which was also a good cooler but was a bit too bulky and didn't perform as well.

I'm running an i7 4790k at 4.6ghz with idle temps of 22-25c and 100% load temps of 55-60c. I put paste both on the cpu and heat sink for those temps. An amazing air cooler.

Would love to have the i7 sitting at 4.8ghz but can't seem to get higher than 4.6.

5 out of 5 eggs3rd Cooler, all flawless

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: - It cools efficiently
- All hardware included and even extra stuff
- Comes with paste but I used my own

Cons: - Somewhat big and bulky

Other Thoughts: Very effective air cooler and keeps i7-4820k just above ambient temps and even overclocked to 4.8ghz the temp only gets to high 50s.

Can't compare vs stock coolers because lga 2011 cpu's don't ship with coolers. It is somewhat big and bulky so make sure you look at dimensions to make sure it will fit in your case. This cooler just barely cleared the height of my rams with heat sinks but overall very satisfied.

2 out of 5 eggsmr

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: heat sink size and design works nice but fan is horrid so plan on having a spare fan around just incase

Cons: follow up on review of 8-13-2014 original cpu fan died - started system this morning and it about ripped cpu cooler off mother board then died screaming in agony ,
I talked to cool master back in august about faulty fan, customer support is a run around they expect remove fan send to them to test for replacement and send you another, from conversation with tech they know these fans are an issue but have had people fake a dead fan to get a second fan sent to them so now rest of us with dead fans suffer. all i wanted was new fan sent and an RMA at same time so i could replace and return faulty fan.
now that is died replaced it with fan from old clunker case (yes using a case fan on cpu cooler ) and it works better the cool master original fan and my ears don't hurt and bleed from the cool master fan noise.

4 out of 5 eggsmixed

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I've had mine now for almost a year. Good cooling, reasonably quiet and easy to install.

Cons: Mine rattles excessively loud on start-up, or when running on full, and has been since I installed it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fan

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: A friend referred me to get this fan for my new gaming PC, and I have to say I was blown away. It more or less instantly dropped my core temperature about 10 degrees Celsius, which for my average gaming life is more then enough to keep my systems cool. I also have two case fans that help with the airflow, but Cooler Master's heat sink is a steal for this price.

Cons: The only negative i have found is that it is quite large. My case being of a smaller size almost couldn't fit the whole thing, but I managed to make it fit with enough space to not cause problems. Make sure to double check your case dimensions before buying and make sure you have the necessary space.

Other Thoughts: This fan and heat sink combo are a steal for the price. I don't think I will need another fan till I do an overhaul and upgrade my whole system. Definitely a must for more Budget oriented die-hard gamers.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget cooler!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: This cooler is better than my old 120mm Radiator liquid cooler, dropped the temperatures from 52C to 42C in prime95 (both temps OCed FX-6300 4.2Ghz). It's pretty quiet if you ask me. I do however have another fan running the heatsink in a push-pull config and good airflow to my case.

Cons: None that I can think of

Other Thoughts: For the price, there's really nothing to complain about it. If you're coming from the stock cooler of an Intel/AMD CPU, this will definitely keep your CPU cool for mild overclocking. I'd recommend this cooler to anyone that needs a great budget cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite the cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: Fan is quiet as ever. Even when stressing the system and revved up the fan it stayed pretty quiet. Installation was easy.

Cons: As other reviews have mentioned you can slightly twist the entire cooler even when it's secured to the board. But the small pin in the bracket prevents it from twisting too far.

Other Thoughts: Installation videos were more helpful than the guide that came with it.
