5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I bought this fan to cool my Intel i5-4670K. It has cooled my processor during intense and heavy loads constantly during gaming and it has never had any performance degrading qualities.

Cons: (N/A)

Other Thoughts: While it was somewhat finicky to get the cradle installed to the motherboard, even with two people, one being a seasoned computer man, I can only assume it installs differently for different motherboards and therefore cannot be for sure a problem that you will definitely face.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, as expected!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: It works really well
Not as hard to install as i was expecting
Fairly cheap

Cons: The only real downside to this block, is the instructions they ship it with. How hard is it to put some text on that little paper? Like, if they had at least put a picture of how to move the screws on the bracket that goes on top of the block, I would have been done a solid 10min sooner. Minus no egg because it was a 1 time nuisance, and i am truly happy with the cooling this thing provides.

Other Thoughts: I was using the stock cooler on my i5, and it started to slip off. If you have ever used a stock cooler from intel, you know they aren't the best, and have locking facets instead of screws. My rig sits up-right (like most people's), and the heat and poor locking system made the stock fan slip. I was getting lower than normal frames in game, and started getting worried about the heal of my system. I open it up and immediatly feel the heat coming off my cpu (it was over 90c. I checked in the bios). Thats when i knew i had no choice and hopped on new egg and found the highest rated heat-sink. Ever since i installed this, i have had no problems. I am happy with it's cooling power. Cpu never gets out of the 40's now.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: cools good and is quiet. clears the RAM.

Cons: this thing is a S.O.B. to install! Instructions like others say are just pictures, the screws are labeled on the instructions as A,B,C, etc but in the screw container THERE ARE NO LABELS! forcing you to match pictures up. so they lose an egg for instructions. installing could be much easier if the X-bracket snapped into the cooler instead of flopping around all over the place, took me several tries to get it right. also when fully tightened it still has about 10 degrees of twist in it giving the appearance that it is not fully seated but after reading online this is normal so they lose an egg for install.

Other Thoughts: overall the product does work, my 4790k was not able to run a full stress test with stock cooler due to it getting up to 90C before I cancelled the test. with this installed I can run a full test and the hottest it gets is 75C so it does a way better job than Intels stock cooler and its much quieter than I expected, not as quiet as the intel but it puts my stock AMD cooler on my old rig to shame.

1 out of 5 eggsBUYER BEWARE

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I would list Pros, but sadly I didn't experience any.

Cons: The cooler shorted my motherboard and forced me to buy a new one.

Other Thoughts: I just wish this item hadn't caused my motherboard to fail, I would've enjoyed this product.

5 out of 5 eggsAn absurd improvement

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan

Pros: I didn't think it would do so much, I bought it thinking it would drop the temperature for my AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core processor about 15 or so degrees. The results were fantastic.
My idle temperatures dropped from 39-45 degrees Celsius, to 23-30 degrees Celsius.
Under full load, my temperatures dropped from 76-90 degrees Celsius, to 34-44 degrees Celsius.
It almost brought me to tears...

Cons: I didn't buy it sooner.

Other Thoughts: I bought some Arctic Silver 5 along with it. I don't know how much the difference would be with the normal thermal paste, and I don't care to find out...
