It is a budget builder’s dream. Being amongst the best value for the dollar in CPU cooling, X6 Elite focuses less on aesthetic flair and incorporates minor changes to performance to achieve a well balanced setup. A unique angled base assists in compatibility and improving overall airflow within a chassis. Six heat pipes and a honeycomb fin structure assist in dissipating heat quickly to keep CPUs cool under high loads.

  • newegg Dense Fins Unique honeycomb fin structure achieves maximum surface area coverage and cooling performance.
  • newegg Special Angle Design Heat sink base and fins angled for better cold air intake from chassis fans – creating optimal air flow and heat dissipation.
  • newegg Discreet Design A special air duct provides extra air flow while wide range PWM fan (600 – 1800 R.P.M.) provides versatile performance while idle and at full load.
  • newegg Easy Installation A quick-snap fan bracket enables easy installation. Compatibility with Intel LGA 2011 / 1366 / 1156 / 1155 / 775 and AMD FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2 platform provides excellent installation flexibility and protects your CPU cooling investment.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat but

Pros: keeps my amd A10 5800k nice and cool even with a major overcloock. Im runing the 5800k at 4.4Ghz with the video core overclocked to 1050mhz. the video is overclocked buy 25% thats huge. Also if you take a few minutes to look at the instructions it installs fast and easy. i had to take the fan off and put it in a pull configeration to clear my memory slots on my motherboard. but it still works great. the included thermal greese is ok and keeps my apu at 7digrees above room temp.

Cons: in stock configeration it blocked 2 ram ports. it also blocked the first pcie slot on my motherboard. if your first pcie slot is for video cards this may not be for you.

Other Thoughts: case coolermaster storm enforcer
motherboard gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4
ram 16gbs gskill sniper 1866mhz
ssd overclocking zone vertix 3 90gb

apu amd 5800k
video card none not needed this system plays everything i can though at it

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome but big

Pros: Awesome cooler once you get it in. I have a corsair 400r and it fits perfectly with width and I even have a fan on the side. Its very difficult to put on and I didn't realize that you had to take off the CPU holder with the aluminum arm that keeps it in place. Also it is meant for a ATX motherboard not a micro even though it fits it is very tight hight wize and it pushes a little on my EVGA 560ti witch bends it ever so slightly. But other than that I havnt seen it go over 53c at max load and stays under 30c idle.

Cons: tough to install, but once you get it in its great, none other than that

4 out of 5 eggsworried me for a second

Pros: looks and cools amazingly after i got it installed, even though it gave me a scare.

Cons: nothing other than check size b4 u buy.

Other Thoughts: after reading rage's review to cut a notch in the top name plate and move the fan up alittle to fit over ram it was a ez fix.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler!!!

Pros: huge difference over the stock temps. Ive installed two of these in the last month on both my pcs. One is my gaming rig and the other a media pc. Both loaded and idle the temps have dropped 10-20 C over the stock cooler. The media pc is on 24/7 in a tight space near my fire place and temps still stay cool. I have them installed on both and amd quad core and an amd dual core processor. The gaming rig is now overclocked moderately and still at a lower temp than the stock cooler could provide.

Cons: The fan had to be moved on my gaming rig to clear my ram. I knew about this before hand as i assumed my ram was too tall so thus it doesn't detract a star. Its very simple to unclip the fan and move it to the opposite side making it a pull through rather than a push through fan.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: This cooler is amazing, I overclocked my Phenom II x4 965 BE to 4.0ghz and this cooler keeps it under 60C under Prime95 load (12hr). It fits inside a Zalman z11 Plus case and has just enough clearance to fit the Kingston Hyper x Ram modules that I put into the system. Also, if your case doesn't have enough room to fit the cooler (1/2in), there is an option to unscrew the plastic faceplate on top of the cooler to give you enough clearance to fit your side panel back into place (did not have to do that though for the Zalman Z11 case i bought)

Cons: Gave me a scare that it might not fit in my case, but just had enough space to fit it in.

5 out of 5 eggsCPU FAN/HEATSINK

Pros: THIS HEATSINK IS A COOLER. IT MAINTANES LOW TEMPS THROUGHOUT ALL LOAD RANGES. IF YOU WANT A GREAT HEATSINK THAT WILL DO THE WORK, THAN MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU. IT IS BIG.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I DID PRODUCT COMPARISONS BEFORE MAKING A DECISION. I ALWAYS STUDY ALL POSSIBLE PRODUCTS, THEN I BUY. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE. AS ALWAYS I, "NEWEGG".

5 out of 5 eggsVery Large

Pros: It keeps my cpu much cooler than the stock heatsink under load, even overclocked.

Cons: Large size means this is not an option for everybody. You can not have RAM modules that have heat sinks on them.

Other Thoughts: This thing is huge. It barely fit in my case. This will likely not fit in anything smaller than a full tower or performance gaming case, and full ATX motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggsRidiculously large

Pros: Looks cool?

Cons: Huge
Blocks first PCIe x16 slot
Doesn't fit over RAM without modifying it
Taller than the case, side panel bows.

Other Thoughts: This is a poorly engineered piece of junk.
Very frustrating that Intel stopped providing HSF with the socket 2011 CPU's leaving us with these kind of choices.
Cooler Master has been doing this for a long time, I expected a much better product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for any inconveniences we have caused you. Can you clarify more on how it is blocking your pci slots? Is the fan getting in the way? If you have any questions, please contact us on live chat so we may resolve any pending issues you may have. Link provided below for your reference.

Respectfully,

5 out of 5 eggsExactly as Expected

Pros: Saw the bad reviews and was skeptical. I have it in a full tower case and I still had to remove the fan from the side of the case.

I knew this heatsink would be big and I was willing to modify the heatsink some to make it fit. You can be brave when you have a friend who is a machinist. Ended up only having to remove side case fan and sliding the cpu fan up a little on the heatsink to clear my memory.

Cons: Had to lower the minimum fan speed alarm in my bios. My fan speed was too slow and my mobo would not let my computer boot. Was turning like 550 rpms.

Other Thoughts: After the adjustments and the bios fine tuning there have been no hiccups for just over a month. I need to break down and clean it right now, but I am too lazy and my cpu temps never break 45C.

I have this sitting on the amd fx 8120 overclocked to 4.0 ghz. Highest temp recorded was 44.6C and the cpu was running at ~90% load for an extended period. I was running a full virus scan, SWTOR, and WoW simultaneosly. My fps did drop to ~30. That temperature was recent and could probably use cleaning.

Overall, I love this heatsink. I didn't have a problem making an adjustment to make this baby fit. Cutting a fin or two on the side of a heatsink is not going to turn it to a pile of junk. Your talking you might be losing what 3% of your surface area to gain an eggcellent (haha I said it) heatsink. (Might also void a warranty but idk)

5 out of 5 eggsImpressed!!

Pros: 1.) It's HUGE!!!
2.) It really works!! And i mean REALLY works! My Phenom II X3 720 (2.8ghz) Black Edition that i unlocked to x4 and overclocked to 3.6 ghz was just too much for my old scythe KATANA3 cooler, and even the cooler master GeminII S524 i ordered by accident the the same day as this, to handle @ 1.4 vcore. Prime95 torture tests caused run away temps in less than 2 min, ie 60c+ and rising without regard @ 100% fan speed.
This one first takes FOREVER to heat up at all, and peaks at 57c with my NXZT phantom's case fans turned down in a 21c-ish room.

Cons: 1.) It's HUGE!!!
2.) Even my G.Skill sniper ram was to tall to fit underneath this monster. Had to Switch the side the fan was on and it's direction.
3.) Had to take the side panel fan out of my NXZT phantom case.
4.) Kinda noisy if you can manage to make it work hard.
5.) Was missing the lga wrench the manual says should have come with it(luckly i both don't need one and the other cooler master cooler did come with one).

Other Thoughts: 1.) It's HUGE!!!
2.) As someone else stated, it is possible to reverse the side the fan attaches to and the fan direction to a "pull" setup instead of "push". In my situation this would have allowed for crazy ram heat spreaders.
3.) Even with one less 200mm fan in my case this keeps my cpu cooler, and the loudest i've heard it was a better than my old cooler(or at the least a better sound and not the whine of a 90mm fan).
4.) Overall better and the best i've seen so far, impressed honestly.
5.) Sell the plastic mounts used to attach the fan to the heatsink so people can do push/pull at the same time!
