Engineered for performance, sized for more surface area for heat dissipation, and equipped with PWM fans for noise control, the Hyper 612 PWM is a silent storm that will keep your LGA 2011 processors running cool. With PWM the motherboard BIOS and software tuning applications can precisely control the fan speed on the Hyper 612 PWM to ensure that performance is always balanced with noise levels. A special heat pipe layout has all 6 heat pipes crossing CPU “hot spots” to deliver optimum thermal performance.

  • newegg Copper Base Heatpipes Full copper base with 6 heatpipes enables high performance heat transfer.
  • newegg Wider Fin Gaps Designed with wider fin gaps to maximize cooling performance at low fan speeds.
  • newegg Resistance Reduction Cut-outs Resistance reducing cut-outs in the aluminum fins reduce weight and improve cooling performance.
  • newegg Unconventional Layout for Heatpipe Direction All 6 heatpipes are geared to cross CPU "hot zones" to cool more efficiently.
  • newegg Powerful yet Silent Fan with Dual-Fan Design Wide range PWM fan (600 – 2000 R.P.M.) provides versatile performance for full loading efficiency and quiet idling. An optional 2nd 120mm fan can be mounted to increase cooling performance.
  • newegg Quick-Snap Fan Bracket Design Quick-snap fan cover allows for a quick and easy installation of fans.

5 out of 5 eggsWhy is this discontinued?

Pros: 15 minute install on GA990FXA-UD3 in HAF 912.
much better brackets than Hyper 212.
cools great even with one fan.
Really Quiet.

Cons: no cons. its big but fit perfectly in cooler master haf 912.

Other Thoughts: I would have bought another for my current rig. Was getting 20 at idle and about 50 under a high load with a phenom 970 black edition oc'ed to 4 ghz.

4 out of 5 eggsKeeps my i7 cool!

Pros: -My i7 3770k idles around 28-32 C and gets up to 50C under load

Cons: -Its BIG as noted by others, just check the dimensions before buying

Other Thoughts: -I haven't tried overclocking with this yet

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't cool stock CPU

Pros: It did fit in my Gigabyte Board which has the memory slots close to the cpu socket. Looks nice.

Cons: My case has no cutout behind the cpu socket so to instal & remove this cooler means pulling the MB. Ugh!

Well I've tried this cooler twice now and if you run a load test one of the four processors jumps to over 60C pretty quickly. Forget about any sort of overcloking. This is an AMD Phenom II x4 975 black edition.

The first time I thought I had too much heat grease on it. They call for a thin layer in the directions. So I called and followed a specific order to use a 2mm ball and let the cooler spread it out.

It's no better. Maybe even a bit worse.

Shouldn't this thing be able to cool this processor with no overclock settings under a full load?

Other Thoughts: I'd like to get this to work but ... maybe I should have gotten the processor with the stock fan.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with our cpu cooler. Based on your description, the cooler appears to be faulty in some way. Please contact us via the Live chat link below so we can get the cooler replaced under warranty coverage.

Respectfully,

CMUSA Customer Support.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler, great price, instructions a bit hard to read.

Pros: Big, tons of heat pipes, PWM fan, great build quality and a brand you can trust.

Cons: The instructions are very vague as to what brackets go to which socket. Fiddled for 15 minutes just to figure out the correct ones for my AM3+ setup. Not worth docking an Egg, just be ready for this when you install.

Other Thoughts: Need a larger case to fit this big boy. Instantly took 8c off my idle temps, and 14c of my load temps. Would absolutely recommend!

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect product so far!

Pros: Keeps the CPU very cool
Easy to install (see other thoughts)
Doesn't looks terribly ugly

Cons: Directions are very confusing. Might be difficult for first time builders.

Other Thoughts: This was my first PC build, so keep in mind my tech knowledge is somewhat low compared to others. Even with my lack of knowledge, this cooler was still easy to setup and install. It did take awhile to get it in place and to get everything installed, but once the brackets are on, it's easy as pie. Although I do advice having a second person help you (I didn't, but it would have helped). Just PLEASE PLEASE READ THE DIRECTIONS!! Read them carefully! Take your time. They instruction book was made for rocket scientists or something, because I had trouble following it. Just read it carefully and it you need help contact the manufacturer.

Also, this thing is pretty big. I have a fractal design r4 and have plenty of clearance room, but just make sure by checking the specs.

I highly recommend this to anyone :)

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Hyper 612

Pros: Cools great, fan's silent, and a lot of copper

Cons: A HUGE pain in the rear to install. I had to get a second pair of hands to install this thing. It was far harder to install than it should have been. but not enough to dock an egg off for.

Other Thoughts: This thing is HUGE I honestly didn't think it was going to fit in my HAF932, but it did, and I am glad it did, my CPU runs so much cooler now. the shipping was very fast despite the snow on the ground. Got to hand it to Newegg and UPS. They know what they're doing.

I'll make another review in a few months giving an update on use.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler on sale

Pros: Significant temperature difference versus stock coolers.

Significant noise reduction thanks to 120mm fan. The stock fan was driving me nuts.

Cons: Installation requires you to remove the entire motherboard regardless of your case/tray.

According to speedfan at ~1980 RPM there is a noise emitted by the fan (bearing issue maybe) so I run it 5% slower to avoid that.

Other Thoughts: Mounted on an AM3 955BE @ 3.7GHz (1.34v) using Arctic Alumina. Installation is not difficult although completely removing your mobo will obviously be inconvenient.

Max temp in Prime95 was 51C (plateaued at 50C) with ambient temps of ~20C. Currently idling @ 35C with Cool-n-Quiet disabled.

Initially I wasn't getting acceptable temperatures and I tried several different fan configurations as well as laying my case on it's side and even applying pressure to the heatsink thinking it was a seating problem. I finally checked the Vcore and I was running @ 1.4 (Auto in BIOS). Once I set the voltage to 1.34 all was well.

5 out of 5 eggsNot heat on CPU

Pros: Excellent cooling especially if you have a second fan installed

Cons: VERY big. Prolly wont fit in most mid tower cases unless the case is made for large heatsinks.

Other Thoughts: This heat sink does what it does extremely well. I installed a second fan to the fins and i have no heat on my CPU. I did have to remove my side fan, but thats ok since side panel fans can mess up air flow. Take special note whether your case can fit this heatsink though as it is VERY large.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Better cooling than my previous corsair h50.

I have a FX-8120 and I have a nice 4GHz overclock with this and the fans set to low. It idles around 26~27c and the temps max around 55c.

The stock fan is actually pretty good. I have it running on "silent mode" in my bios and I still get great temps.

Cons: I hate the mounting. It is not that hard but you are forced to hold the cooler over the cpu with thermal paste on and flip it all over to screw in the back plate from the bottom.

Other Thoughts: I see some people saying it is defective, however I would have to say that it is user error.

There is no problem with ram clearance. I have G.Skill
ripjaws ram and there was about a quarter inch of clearance. Also You can move the fan higher or lower on the heatsink if you need to. The heatsink does not actually cover the ram just the fan does, which is great so the ram can be removed without removing the entire heatsink. Also if you have huge ram, you always have the option to move the fan to the other side.

My case is the coolermaster haf 922 and I have about 2 inches of extra room on top of the heatsink

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome HSF

Pros: So I got this on another site because it was an amazing price at the time. Looked right past the Hyper 212.
This thing cools like its no ones business. My Zambezi 4170 4.3GHz temps are so low its crazy. As I'm typing this I have multiple taps open, music going, skype and some other programs running and its at a cool cool 15C.
People weren't joking when they said it was big, it just BARELY fit into my Antec 900 First Edition.
This thing is super quite. I barely even hear it, in fact I'm not even sure if it makes noise.. let me check. Yup case open and don't even hear it. Not even when gaming.
You may want low profile ram though, I use Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
and they fit with a little room to spare. But you only see one of the sticks of ram, the other is hidden lol.
I love this thing and the way it looks. I would recommend it to anyone who can fit it into their case and was thinking of getting a 212. This thing blows the 212 away in cooling!

Cons: NONE!!!

Other Thoughts: My build:
ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3+ AMD 990FX
Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 v2
