2 out of 5 eggsDidnt even get to install it !

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: construction looks good, materials used did not look cheap.

Cons: The makers of this did not account for the the space between the CPU and the RAM slots on my motherboard. I used up all my RAM slots, I wasnt going to take out any ram to fit this in so I returned it. Should of had the ability to clamp down the other way.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Value for the Price

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Better temps than a stock cooler.
Decent quality for the price.
Fan is quieter than I thought it would be and looks nice.
It is shorter than the Evo 212

Cons: The tension bracket can be tricky but for the $26 bucks I paid I really can't complain with the results.
Practice before actually putting the thermal paste on :)
It's pretty wide so considering what type of cabling you have be careful to plan your cable lengths before you put it in :)

Other Thoughts: Recommended for folks on a tight gaming budget.

3 out of 5 eggsTerrible Fan

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: So I've had this heatsink for about a week now. it was pretty easy to install after watching a how to video. it's smaller than the evo so that's what really made my mind up about buying it. Price point is good.

Cons: Unfortunately after the third day the fan started making a terrible noise, almost sounds like a dying hard drive. I wish they would ship this heatsink with a higher quality fan.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than Intel HSF for i7-2600

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Keeps an i7-2600 at cooler temps under load. Using Intel Heatsink Folding at Home was mid 70s and Prime95 was over 80s. With the T4 it is now mid 50s for FAH, and low 60s for P95.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installation is easy enough to figure out. The instructions is more pictorial than instructional. For the i7 you have to unmount your mobo to install the back plate. If you have a case that has the rear case motherboard cutout you will not need to dismount the mobo.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: - Kept my i5 4590 temps low (not a surprise, as stock was almost as good)
- Never had a problem with it after a few months
- Even though it's clunky, it looks nice.

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: Make sure it fits in your case

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent budget cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: This cooler just works. Put it inside new 5830k build and at stock 3.3 this cooler keeps it in the 30s idle and low 40s under load. After oc to 4.0 cpu idles at 38 and under full load maxes at 58! this with ambient temps near the 30s in Texas. Assembly and mounting was the easiest from any of my previous air coolers and mounting of a 2nd fan was a must I wish I would have tried it stock but it's so easy to clip the 2nd one on and I had a fan I figured why not.

Cons: not really any big ones. have to be sure the cross bracket is centered in the base of the block or it might move around when you go to synch it down but lime I said this was 2min for me to realize what was going on and install was still astronomically easier then my last arctic cooler.

Other Thoughts: what else is there to say. catch this on sale for under 20 bucks or even 15 and it's a no brainer.

4 out of 5 eggsInexpensive, superior to stock cooler.

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Lightweight, effective CPU cooling. Allows any 120mm fan. Impressive for the price.

Cons: Very poor quality fan. Don't expect it to last forever. What did you expect? It was good of them to include a fan at this price. I'm happy.
Only fits inside a full width computer case. Low-pro is no-go.

Other Thoughts: Read the directions, seriously. Be careful, and enjoy. It's much better than most stock cooling solutions.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Budget Air Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: + Not outrageously gigantic.
+ Quiet and efficient.
+ Relatively inexpensive.

Cons: - Can be tricky to mount.

Other Thoughts: I have the Hyper T4 installed on an i5-6600K that is overclocked to 4.4ghz at 1.36v. My idle temps hover between 27c - 31c and under heavy load with Prime95 I've never seen higher than 73c. I am running this unit in a push/pull dual fan config in a case with very good airflow.

It's obviously important to apply your thermal paste correctly, and I believe many people have a poor technique (even long time PC builders) due to the great many poor tutorials online and elsewhere.

The "pea-size dab in the center of the CPU, and then apply the heatsink" methodology is risky. Often this works out fine, but it can often result in uneven distribution of thermal paste, and/or air bubbles that prevent a good thermal transfer.

The "correct" technique is to squirt a ball of thermal paste a bit smaller than a pea on to the center of the CPU, and then with a gloved (or clean and dry) finger, smooth the ball of thermal paste into a very thin, even layer across the entire top surface of the CPU. When finished, there should be a uniform layer of thermal paste with no obvious thin or thick spots. After ensuring a consistent, thin, uniform layer is present, apply your heatsink as usual while trying to minimize any unnecessary twisting, sliding or lifting once the heatsink base has made contact with the CPU.

It's important that the layer of thermal paste be very thin. The paste is only meant to account for any imperfections in the flat surface of the CPU and the heatsink base. Any excess paste only serves to hinder efficient thermal transfer.

2 out of 5 eggsCooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: I have a ASUS P8Z77-V LK, with a Intel I5 3470 inside, Will only mount up or down because of Motherboard heat sink. Had to take the heat spreader off one of my Vengence ram. Cools good but the fan that came with it is rattling. Keeps my CPU at 33 C idle/ 61C under full load. Use Artic Silver 5, not the ketchup pack thermal grease they sent with it.

Cons: Fan is bad out of box.
Price is a little too high considering having to buy another fan

Other Thoughts: This is my first time buying a Cooler Master brand, and I have concerns about their Quality Control. This fan shouldn't have made it pass. I bought this over cheaper brands because I thought it would be better quality, was a real let done when I started my PC and heard this annoying rattle. I would feel reserved to recommend Cooler Master products to a friend. May try to contact Cooler Master, I'll update after I talk to them, if I can get a human there!

5 out of 5 eggsLow Cost but Very Effective. Very Pleased Indeed. Best Bang for Buck!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Super-Easy install on an AM3+ CPU socket. Reminded me of the old AMD Athlon CPU coolers of decades ago. I don't think any AM3+ Cooler install could have been easier. Came with plenty of hardware for other sockets like Intel. Saved those parts in a labeled and zippered sandwich bag.

Cons: No Cons. None. This is just what I needed for an AMD AM3+ FX-4350 CPU. Everything I needed was provided. No Cons whatsoever. Very Pleased!

Other Thoughts: I did install a 2nd Cooler Master 120mm PWM Fan with a 4-pins PWM tail plugged into the Asus AM3+ Motherboard "CPU OPT" port. Everything that was required for the 2nd fan came with the cooler. I already had the second CM 120mm PWM fan on hand. This cooler went into a Blue-themed Asus AM3+ motherboard. FX-4350 CPU and then 2x 8GB sticks of Crucial DDR3-1600 RAM. We used Arctic brand MX-2 heatsink grease, 2x 4-grams syringes. NOTE: A Word to the Wise !! - Install the RAM *BEFORE* you install the CPU cooler as clearance to install RAM after the CPU Cooler is mounted was a bit tight. Installing the 2nd set of two RAM sticks would require pulling the cooler off of the CPU, then cleaning both the cooler and the top of the CPU, and then using new heatsink grease before re-mounting the cooler. But this is not unusual and it is NOT a Con for me. However it may be a Con for you. YMMV. I was able to install the cooler without having to access the underside of the motherboard. Just one simple locking clamp. Easy-Peasy. The motherboard remained mounted onto the motherboard plate from the case during the whole install procedure. This set of new parts - FX-4350 CPU, CM Cooler, 2x CM Fans, grease, Asus Motherboard, and Crucial RAM - breathed new life into a client's Win_7 PC. I could not find another heatsink fan with 4 direct-contact heatpipes and up to two 120mm PWM fans for a lower price. We payed about $25 for the cooler on or about 2-26-2016. Best Bang for the Buck !! Very Pleased Indeed !!
