4 out of 5 eggsGreat Coolers

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Its great, there are a ton of pros to it, quiet, Keeps the CPU Cool easy to work with

Cons: Don't get tall ram if you're using it on a AMD+ 3 Motherboard, or your ram will not fit! There's no other way to install these on those boards that I know of. but if you get Tall ram, Good luck! They wont fit because of the pipes

Other Thoughts: Wish the pipes weren't in the way of the ram but other then that its great

4 out of 5 eggsQuick install

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: after the install i did notice my processor never reached the high temps it use to 90+ to touching a 100 degrees.

Cons: installation on a motherboard in a case is tough on the thumbs

Other Thoughts: I got this as a compensation for my motherboard not being able to mount a hyper 212 evo on it.

4 out of 5 eggsdoes the job

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: great bang for the buck, keeps the cpu cool and very quiet

Cons: if you have an AMD processor you have to mount it horizontally

Other Thoughts: get bang for the buck, but if I could I would buy the evo 212 instead. being able to mount variety of different options.

4 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Great temperatures!
Works with lots of different socket types. I'm using AM3+.
I have an FX-4300 at 4.8ghz, it idles at 5c and goes up to 35c. (According to Coretemps and HWInfo)

Cons: Huge! Though you can see the dimensions on the page here, it's just massive. I didn't do enough research, and found out that this blocks one of my RAM slots. Not a big deal, as I only use 2x4GB sticks.

Other Thoughts: I strongly suggest measuring the distance you have between your motherboard and case's side-panel before purchasing this! Many cases don't have enough room to hold this heatsink, because it's so massive!

I've heard that adding a second fan for cooling (Push-Pull), doesn't do that much for this heatsink. I haven't tried it, just what I've heard.

2 out of 5 eggsDon't Use with some AM3+ Motherboards!!

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Direct Copper Contacts
Nice Big Fan
Price

Cons: WiIl Not Fit My AM3+ Motherboard

Other Thoughts: Bought with ASRock 970 AM3+ Performance Motherboard and the AM3+ mount WOULD NOT FIT. Spent a half hour and half a tube of diamond infused thermal paste trying to get it to fit to no avail. Very disappointed with Cooler Master on this one. For those with AM3+ CPUs, Pay the extra few dollers for the 212!! Reverted to using the stock AMD fan in the meantime (which fit perfect btw)

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Aaron B,

We apologize for the issues you are experiencing with the Hyper T4. The Hyper T4 is compatible with the AM3 + socket.

Please contact us for further trouble shooting.

4 out of 5 eggsBad out of the box

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Once you work it properly, it's a very very good cooler. This runs my G3258 @ 4.4GHz (with core at 1.38V so mine is pretty power hungry) and reaches a max temp of 70C with prime95, whereas the stock intel cooler was at 90C and climbing when I stopped it.

Cons: Out of the box, the clip doesn't apply enough pressure (and it didn't fit the AM socket on my old rig. I just used the clip that came with the stock AMD cooler though and it was fine) and the finish on the bottom is awful. Very grainy and requires a LOT of thermal paste. But it's correctable.

Other Thoughts: I polished the bottom numerous times with Blue Magic metal polish and then cleaned it with isopropyl to remove the silicone film. Then I just slid some paper in where the clip applies pressure on the heat sink and now it snaps in nice and tight. Overall the work took off ~10-15C, and now I can't really say it's a bad cooler.

2 out of 5 eggsWish it fit

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Looks alright, otherwise don't know

Cons: 1) Clunky instructions. One step of the instructions is longer than the rest of the steps combined and says "assemble the retention bracket" How about you give me instructions on how to do that?

2) Company cut costs on paste. Small little thing that's not labeled as paste and only enough for 1 and a half applications. Don't mess up or you have to go buy more paste.

3) Doesn't fit my motherboard. Either the motherboard heatsink or ram heatsink blocks installation.

Other Thoughts: The motherboard that it won't fit into is gigabyte ga-z87x-ud4h and g. skill ram.

Total bummer.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Alexander G,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Hyper T4. The Hyper T4 is compatible with the 1150 Socket but you may have issues due to various motherboard designs. Also the Hyper T4 will only support RAM up to a maximum height of 37mm which we have displayed on our website. Its possible that you purchased RAM that is taller the 37mm which is why you are having issues with the installation.

You only need to use a small pea sized drop when applying the thermal paste. The tube that is included in enough for multiple installations so you are applying way to much if it only lasted you one an a half applications.

Please contact us so that we may assist with the installation.

Patrick

5 out of 5 eggsInstalled for client

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Works great, can't hear it from beside clients desk. If you've installed a 212, this one's pretty similar.

Cons: You may want to buy thermal paste separately, it comes with a packet of it but I couldn't tell what brand and/or quality.

4 out of 5 eggsBig Cooler, little price

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Huge heat pipes, great build quality, all mounting options included, fan uses 4 pin header, moves a ton of air, even includes the mounts to put on a second fan if desired, improved temps by ~15 degrees at idle over the stock AMD cooler and can keep up with light to moderate overclocks with ease. I have not tried any extreme overclocks yet to push its limits of cooling (probably want to grab a second fan for that)

Cons: Big, I mean really big. It worked for me since I had a case with a bump out on the side panel. Must use low profile ram on most motherboards with this (thank goodness I ordered low profile on this build to begin with). On the Asrock 970 Pro3 v2 mobo, one heat pipe nearly touches the heat spreader on my ram in the a1 dimm slot.

Other Thoughts: The heatsink/fan holds itself up really well considering its massive girth, and it performs extremely well. I cannot recommend this due to its size and limited applicability. This is a great cooler for performance and included kit at this price point; just way too big for most systems.

4 out of 5 eggsBig, Big Cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: 120mm fan, massive heat pipes, mounting for second fan included, included fan utilizes the CPU fan header with full 4 pin connector; includes all mounting hardware needed for current generation sockets of both AMD and Intel.

Cons: Really, Really Big. If my case didn't have raised side panels it would not have fit.

Other Thoughts: This thing is a great big giant tank of a cooler. Build quality is superb for the price point. Included fan moves more air than my case fan and they even included the mounting brackets to add a second fan to this monster. This is going to be a tight fit in all but the most thoughtful cases, but worth it. Idle temps almost 20 degrees cooler than the stock fan/heatsink from AMD. Fan mount is snug and secure, but also easily removed to make it possible to reach most places around the motherboard without fully pulling the heatsink.

Would I purchase this again - probably not, but only because the only performance upgrade to this would be a Noctua or a Water cooler; I will be using this as long as I can, and definitely save this for use on my next test bench build.

Would I recommend this to a friend? Probably not, too big for anything in a normal sized case, and a bit more cooling performance than needed for most budget builds.

This is a fantastic cooler with all of the options and quality of top tier coolers at a value cooler price...just WAAAAY too big for a 5 star rating
