4 out of 5 eggsWorks as Intended

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Dropped the temps by 20 degrees Celsius over the stock FX-8320 cooler. The fan is silent, even at full speed it is hardly noticeable.

There is mounting hardware for just about every CPU in the last 10 years in the box. If you can't get this thing to install on what you have, then it might be time for an upgrade.

Cons: The mounting system for the AM3+ socket is not ideal. After installing it the 1st of 3 times I noticed the base of the heatsink was only making contact with half the CPU. From there I mounted it 2 more times. The last time I mounted it I just had to man handle the thing to sit over the center of the CPU.

Trying to be cheap I wasted the stock paste after taking it off the CPU. Then I proceeded to waste some much more expensive paste after the second "failed" attempt. After cleaning it up and installing it the third time I got it close enough and didn't want to waste any more good thermal paste.

Other Thoughts: This computer is sitting out in my garage in the Texas heat. I needed a cheap heatsink that would outperform what AMD shipped with the CPU. It's almost July and August so I'll know if it works or not very soon.

It has been two months since I ordered this heatsink and I have yet to receive my rebate card. As of today (6-20-15), it is still in the "processing" state. If I am required to send in a MiR in a certain amount of time they should be required to fulfill in a certain amount of time.

I've owned several Cooler Master heatsinks and it seems like they hold up better than other brands I have used in the past. I have yet to pull a CM heatsink and find corrosion around the heatpipes/base plate like some other brands.

5 out of 5 eggsrokk solid

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: simple install for 1156 socket
amazing cooling
unbeatable price
comes with thermal paste (i recommend you buy your own though)

Cons: its heavy as you would expect. comes with a mobo brace so its not all bad.

the thermal paste it comes with is questionable.

Other Thoughts: i upgraded from intel stock cooler for my 1st gen i5-760. before i was hitting 93c during intel burn test and i could not get above 3.6ghz.

now with this i can push it to 4ghz at 80c with intel burn test and clock my mem higher from 1333 2T to 1500 1T. all stable during an overnight stress test of 9~ hours. you cannot beat the price on this!

2 out of 5 eggsWobbly

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Price isn't bad
4 Heatpipes
It's fine if you plan to never touch it again after installation

Cons: This thing does not fit on securely. It wobbles to the touch. At first my temperatures were great, but after playing around with my computer and bumping into the cooler, the temps have gone way up. My guess is that the thermal paste now needs to be redone. This is not acceptable especially considering how difficult it is to install.

Other Thoughts: The type of clip that this cooler uses seems to be the standard since the coolers are designed to work with every socket in existence. I am trying to avoid it, because I do not want to endure the same experience.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler once I got the fan issue fixed

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Awesome cooler. Under Prime98, my cpu temps were as high as the 190's, and that's just stock speed. With this monster I'm now maxing out in the low 150's, I'm amazed at it's cooling power. I've been reading about the suggestions about how much thermal paste to apply. I do agree that less is more but because of the small gaps between the pipes, it might be best to apply a light coat to those before you install it. Works perfectly now.

Cons: As mentioned in the heading, I was getting a cpu fan error upon initial installation. Plugged in the old stock cooler and the error went away. Apparently, in my case anyway, I had to lower the fan speed alarm to compensate for the slower fan speed. Once I did that, the cpu fan error went away.

Other Thoughts: The cooler and fan sit right over my memory, so getting to them would be impossible unless I took off the cooler first. But I have 16 gigs of memory between them so I'm good.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler for great price

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Fairly straightforward and easy to install. Since its my first non-stock cooler, I didn't want to go the liquid route. This has worked brilliantly so far. CPU doesn't get above 32C even under load (Witcher III free bundle ftw). Overall, a great choice for others not wanting to go the liquid cooled route.

Cons: Thought it came with putty, but didn't. Luckily I had some of my own. Not a big deal, but something to keep in mind.

3 out of 5 eggsTight Fit

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Cheap, work just as well as other cooler master direct contact fans.

Cons: The mounting for this model is complex and your motherboard's architecture may not allow it to fit.

Other Thoughts: Like I just mentioned, if this model will fit on your board, it works just as well as any other their other models, but the mounting procedure takes up alot of space on top of the board just to get it set into place. You need a lot of clearance to get this mounted and alot of boards do not accommodate. I also found the mounting procedure hard to accomplish while placing the fan onto the cpu thermal paste. Go with another model.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality and Reliable Product

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Easy installation, quality product from quality company, works very well.

Cons: had to remove one fan to make it fit in my case, but no worries.

Other Thoughts: The heatsink in my machine was quite terrible and had issues with just keeping on. I bought this buddy as a replacement and it's been working well for me and my uses. Definitely a quality purchase.

2 out of 5 eggsNot that great for AMD chips at least

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Large Radiator. Nice copper heat tubes. Reasonably quiet fan. Price. Wasn't too hard to install(AMD FM2+).

Cons: Large gaps between heat ex-changer tubes (right over the center of the CPU die). Takes a ridiculous amount of thermal paste to bridge the gap. So much so I can't get enough on CPU to keep it cool without drooling over the side of the chip. Under load at stock settings i was hitting 73°C.

Other Thoughts: Buying a Corsair H80i so I can reactivate the turbo setting.
If you want to air cool spend the extra bucks on the cooler master Hyper212 with tighter heat pipes. Had to down clock my CPU too keep it below 70°C I've tryed reseating and many different paste application methods.

OCZ Arc100 240GB SSD
1TB WD Blue 7200rpm

Windows 7 64bit

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Scott S,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Hyper T4. I would suggest cleaning the thermal paste off the cpu and cooler since it appears too much was applied. Then I would suggest placing a small pea sized drop in the center of the CPU and reinstalling the cooler.

After doing this I would recheck your temperatures and see if they have improved.

Please contact us if you need any further assitance with the installation.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent cooler

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Excellent large quite cooler, Easy install with no tools required on a AM3+ board. This thing keeps my CPE cool at 20c at idle and 29c at load with a overclock running prime 95. I cant complain one bit this is an excellent cooler for the price.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Coolers

This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Pros: Its great, there are a ton of pros to it, quiet, Keeps the CPU Cool easy to work with

Cons: Don't get tall ram if you're using it on a AMD+ 3 Motherboard, or your ram will not fit! There's no other way to install these on those boards that I know of. but if you get Tall ram, Good luck! They wont fit because of the pipes

Other Thoughts: Wish the pipes weren't in the way of the ram but other then that its great
