2 out of 5 eggsBad wiring at the connectors

Pros: I just completed my "Cooler Master Cosmos II - Ultra Tower Computer Case" build. I used the Asus Z9PE-D8 WS with dual 2011 sockets. I was extremely happy with the case. using one "Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige & one Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige. Runs with no load at about 30 C.

Cons: Unfortunately I decided to use one "Cooler Master Eisberg 120L Prestige & one Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige to cool the two rather expensive Intel Xeon E5-2600 series processors. The first disappointment was instruction booklet very very poorly written almost to be described as incomplete. Also disappointing was that there was no 3 pin Y splitter fan cable included with the two fan 240L, an obvious necessity. But the huge disappointment was the quality or lack there of with the molex pump connectors. Both the 120L & 240L came with such poorly constructed molex pump connectors. The pins falling out of the back of the molex end of the connectors, broken wires on two out of the three of the pump leeds again at the molex end. Now if it was of such poor quality on just one cooling kit it wouldn't be as bad, one bad connector out of a large group is one thing, but two bad connectors out of two totally individual cooling kits indicates a widespread problem.

Other Thoughts: A technology related industry also doesn't have a functioning website.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Lawrence W,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Eisberg 120L. Unfortunately this product along with many of our other liquid coolers do not come with a 3 pin Y splitter for the fans so this will need to be purchased separately. We have not received any customer complaints regarding the molex adapters but we can ship you two replacements for free.

1 out of 5 eggsdestroyer of motherboards

Pros: quiet when connected properly.
very effective cooling.

Cons: Poor documentation.
Leaked at the window seal at about 11 months destroying my motherboard.

Other Thoughts: like a submarine, putting a window in a water cooling system is probably a bad idea.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Guy a,

We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the Esiberg 120L. The Eisberg 120L does comes with a two year warranty. Please contact us so that we can get you a replacement cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsEisberg 120

Pros: Quiet, does what is is supposed to do, keep your CPU cool, installation was EZ, but... see cons.

Cons: This coolers weak point are the plastic snap in mounting nuts that attach to the mobo. Do not plan on removing these more than once or twice, after that, they do NOT grab anymore. what a shame. Should have had a backplate for this kind of money and hoohah.

4 out of 5 eggsI hate to do this... but disappointed.

Pros: Sleek design; very sturdy build. Assuming the pump stays fresh, this thing looks like it will outlast the Sun. It's a very appealing design; even without an LED. On most accounts, it appears to be built with high quality parts. You can also flush it - and fill it up! First closed loop I've seen where you can do that.

Cons: First off, the most common complaint I've read so far on other sites with the Eisberg; is poor documentation. Frankly? I agree. You crammed like 10 languages in a 15 page "manual" and completely stopped after you covered bolting the block on. What if I didn't know how to power this thing? How are they going to know the difference between 9v & 12? Lucky for me, I did; and most of us do; but it's just an example. It was a very, brief, and incomplete set of instruction.

Installation wasnt too bad - but was a slight pain. The rubber inserts between the fans and the radiators would bunch inwards, sometimes getting in the way of the fan - this was because the screws were too tight; but I hadnt gone overboard, knowingly, tightening them down. Word of advice? If you use the inserts? Keep the screws loose.

Also; why on earth are we suddenly using allen wrenches for fan screws!?? A tiny one at that? Good luck if you drop it... Have fun fishing it out under your motherboard.

Performance: This is where you let me down. This thing is 60$ more expensive than a Corsair H100 - and at first, I thought this was because you splurged on the parts installed. It can be refilled; its got a stronger pump; its got a copper radiator - honestly, when I purchased this, I assumed I could get cooling comparable with the H100 - even with the smaller radiator. A reasonable expectation, considering the price, and my conservative overclock.

But I was surprised to find out- at a stock clock (3.5) for a i7 3770k, ran on average 2-5 degrees warmer, at idle, than the same CPU clocked at 4.4ghz under Corsairs H100.

When I tried to jump to 4.4ghz; my rig froze - time after time. Completely locked up. Dumped my clock settings in the BIOS even.

Swapped it out for the H100? Immediately attempted the same clock settings, and no problems. I didnt do anyting else - that was it - for some reason, my rig did not like the Eisburg, at all.

I'm not naive - I wont pretend like my result is typical - but it was MY result. I was excited to free up some room with a more compact CPU cooler, to make way for a custom loop for my GPUs - this seemed like a great option to do that.

However, not only was installation kind of a pain but the performance wasn't good enough to justify the purchase. For the price you pay, it' was simply unsatisfactory - especially if you use the 9v adapter and add another 2/3 degrees

And if you don't use the 9v adapter? Be ready to wear your headphones - because that pump whines something fierce.

The only difference in my on the spot testing - was the radiators - same paste, same push pull fans, all running at max speed - the H100 was decisively superior.

I may have got a bad one - and if it hadn't of caused issues while overclocking -I'm sure I could of lived with it at 12v. I've heard people get good results with the 120L, compared to an H60 - but I think the H100 still holds all advantages to the Eisburg - even if its got better parts!

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad product - but Corsairs line works so well, I'm used to high performance. When I spent this much more and noticed a decrease like that - along with a change in stability? It lost my faith as a consumer - I returned it for a refund, and stuck my H100.

Again - its not a bad product - but if you are "upgrading" from one closed loop CPU cooler to another? Be sure to run some benchmarks BEFORE you install this thing. Get a good set of numbers - and then see how this one compares! If it works well for you, and you can stand the noise, then I think it'll last you a long time.

Still - only a two year warranty? tsk tsk, Cooler Master... It was a good shot... But I'll stick with Corsair for now.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth the cost given the noise

Pros: Does a great job of keeping the cpu cool

Cons: noisy pump. Poor documentation. They do not mention that you need to top off the water level before you install it in the system.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with the Eisberg 120L. The liquid coolers come prefilled so you should not have to add any liquid but you do have the option too if there are large air bubbles in the pump window. You also have to option to use the molex adapter to decrease the voltage to the pump which will also decrease the noise.

Please contact us via Live Chat if you need any further assistance.
