5 out of 5 eggsworks well so far

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Works well and was relatively easy to install.

Cons: I had to twist the hoses 90 degrees because the mount has to be such that hoses are on left or right of processor but my case doesn't have room for the heat sink except for vertical with the hoses at the top or bottom. It seems to be okay though.

Other Thoughts: I got the black screws and the shiny screws mixed up and had to take the whole thing apart and put it back together again. The shiny screws are for the back plate and the black screws are for the fan. I guess that should have been obvious but I mixed that up. Other than that the install was pretty easy.

4 out of 5 eggsPleased overall

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Overclocking works well, but I don't appear to have any better stability than I did when air-cooling. My AMD FX-8350 is currently running at 4.5GHz, from 4GHz stock.

Installing the block on the CPU was relatively easy, and is no different than installing a new CPU fan. The hoses from the block to the cooler are firmly attached, and I've inadvertently yanked on them many times without them budging. I don't recommend trying to pull on them, but you don't need to worry about them coming off.

Overall the design is still more compact than my previous 120mm-fan air-cooler. I feel like this has greatly improved airflow in the case, now that the exhaust fans on the top and back have an unobstructed view of the whole motherboard now.

Cons: The radiator would not fit on the 120mm fan slot on the back of my case, as the radiator is longer on side than a standard 120mm fan. I was able to hack it to my side panel vent, however.

The stock fan is quite loud, so I'm using the fan from my previous (air) CPU cooler.

The radiator hoses are not quite long enough for me to easily remove the side panel that the radiator is attached to. I can do it regularly, but the side panel is hard to situate with cables attached to the motherboard. This is somewhat inevitable with this type of device installed on the side panel though.

Other Thoughts: After having the fan installed in the wrong direction for a couple of weeks, I corrected the error and noticed that the air being expelled was quite warm. This would indicate to me that it's transferring the heat effectively.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: I have an unlocked Intel i5 overclocked to 4.3GHz and it now stays BELOW 59c even under High Load. By contrast, my old Cooler Master air-cooled CPU fan would hit 72-75c under heavy BF4 gaming.
CPU is 1c to 5c cooler than my MOBO under normal Low load conditions!
Fan is relatively quiet.
Looks pretty cool.

Cons: Keep in mind: The Radiator is a bit LARGER than the fan. I have a medium sized Cooler Master tower and ran into space issues trying to install the radiator/fan assembly. I eventually took a drill to my tower since the radiator wouldn't line up with the existing case mounting holes.

Other Thoughts: I took off an egg because I was forced to drill new holes into my case and reorient all of my other case fans. I found it odd that this Cooler Master Cooling system didn't fit easily into my Cooler Master eLITE Tower.

All in all, I am pleasantly surprised by how well it cools the overall rig and how quickly it does so. Exit a game and my CPU temp will match the MOBO temp in under a minute.
I would definitely recommend it IF you have the space in your tower.

2 out of 5 eggsLoud grinding sound coming from the water pump.

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Easy to install. Good price.

Cons: Loud grinding sound coming from the water pump when pump power connected directly to MB.

Other Thoughts: I am currently using this cooler inside a Fractal Design Node 804 case with an ASRock Mini ITX Server Motherboard to cool an Intel Xeon E3-1220V3 Haswell 3.1GHz processor. The board has a 4-pin Front Fan Connector and a 4-pin CPU Fan Connector. When I plug the water pump into the front fan connector, I get a loud grinding sound coming from the motor. Almost like it's being overloaded with power. Same thing when I plug the motor into the CPU Fan Connector. To get around this grinding sound, I had to plug the pump motor into the Fractal Design Node 804 case itself. Luckily, the case has a built in fan speed regulator switch (L,M & H). I set the speed to LOW and the grinding sound on the pump goes away. Switch it to Medium and the grinding sound comes back. Not a good solution since now I don't know for sure if the pump is getting the adequate power it needs to actually do it's job. I'm running FreeNAS OS so there's no CPU temp display I can look at, but I've been running this thing for 6 months now and the NAS seems to be OK. Since my server board has only one CPU fan connector, I'm thinking of switching to this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099. One fan, one wire, one connector. No more pump grinding and the board will tell the CPU to cool itself correctly. Guess my board was really designed for these kind of coolers.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked good while it lasted

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Cooled good while it lasted.

Cons: Failed in 14 months.

Other Thoughts: I have another one of these on my home server that stopped working. I was able to get it going again by tapping on it. I am going to be ordering two brand new coolers to replace this item.

I wouldn't buy this cooler again. I'll be looking outside this company for my next ones. two coolers of the same model junk within about 14-18 months.

5 out of 5 eggsAWESOME!

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: - Works out of the box
- Really silent fan
- I can overclock my i5-3570k 3.4Ghz to 4.2Ghz without getting over 60 degres Celcius
- So happy!!

Cons: - Maybe a bit difficult to do all the job alone.

Other Thoughts: Before that, my CPU gets like 100 degres in a game. Now, it's pretty awesome to don't even gets higher than 60. And for this price, it's a MUST!

5 out of 5 eggsAir Coolers Have Nothing

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: My CPU no longer spikes to over 100°F when doing something as simple as opening Chrome

Running all 4 cores of my CPU at 100% on the most CPU intensive game I own for extended periods of time the hottest it has reached was 78°F, previously it would go over 170

Cons: Installation was a massive pain to get everything to line up when putting the pump on the CPU block

Other Thoughts: I have yet to run any heavy stress tests, but seeing as how running Chrome is ~40° cooler than with my air cooler, I expect a good result

3 out of 5 eggsThe Pump is Not Silent

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: It is really cheap, and has the features a AIO liquid cooler has. I have no issue about it like other 1 egg reviews had. Maybe because my MB has self protection mechanism.

Cons: The fan is fairly silent, but the pump is not! I can hear the pump like I can hear a air cooler. I can hear it playing games, watching movies.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but don't buy if you want to OC

This review is from: Cooler Master Seidon 120V – Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling System with 120mm Radiator and Fan

Pros: Farily easy to install and keeps your CPU cool at stock speed.

Cons: I ended up replacing this Cool Master with the Noctua NH-U14S 140x150x25. The Cool Master just couldn't keep the temperatures cool and the system stable at moderate OCing.

Other Thoughts: I applied Artic Silver multiple times cleaning with Arctic Silver Arcticlean Thermal material Remover & Surface Purifier with the same results every time, terrible temperatures. Don't waste your money if you want to OC your system.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

We apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with the Seidon 120v. Please note that the Seidon 120v is an entry level liquid cooler and will not be comparable to a Noctua U14.

I would suggest looking at the Nepton 240M or Nepton 280L if you plan to overclock your CPU.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
