Hard to install...
- Comments: The fan works WONDERFUL! It works way better than the stock fan.
The installation, however was a lil tricky. First, the padding for the screws for the CPU wouldn't stick to the motherboard. Even the one that came with the fan wowuldn't stick good. I had to super glue it and add screws to the back to keep it in.
Second, the screw extenders that came with it weren't long enough. I had to remove the screws that were attached to the fan and use pliers to squeeze the springs down.
After it was installed, it was well worth the trouble. Good luck to those that wanna try... I reccomend this for experts that can do a little teaking.
This is Heavy Doc...
- Pros: This HSF is definitely quiet. Quieter then the stock AMD cooler by a noticeable amount in my setup. Doesn't cool substantially better then the stock cooler, (dropped my load temps 4C) but the noise combined with the aesthetics makes it a worthy buy.
- Cons: It's HEAVY. Clocks in at over 2 pounds. And you had better be sure you have room for it, as it sits about 2 1/2" high, and is 4 3/4" in diameter. The installation is kind of a pain since you have to take out the motherboard to put in the proprietary backplate and spacers, but not too terrible.
- Other Thoughts: Bought this because I picked up an Athlon 3200+ DTR, which doesn't have the AMD heatspreader, so the stock cooler in the ZIF socket wasn't making contact with the processor. It does a good job.

Evol inc
- Pros: Cheap and works well what else can you ask for
- Cons: 3-pin power plug, no speed controll as you find with higher end coolers
- Other Thoughts: My set up:
AMD Phenom 9850 black ATI Radeon 3850 DDR3 OC MSI 780G MATX mobo (4x1GB) Kingston HyperX 1066 (2x500gb) WD Caviar Blue Raidmax Hybrid 530W Vista 32bit SP1
Nice Fan
- Pros: Very good fan for the price, fairly easy to install, looks cool, quite, and is firmly help to the board.
- Cons: None, works as I thought it would.
- Other Thoughts: It also has a cool blue led light to it that I didnt realize so if you have a see threw case it might look even cooler!
Good Buy
- Pros: I've got 3 computers in the house and they all have this heat sink and fan. All pretty quite and never had a heat issue. I do not overclock any of our computers though. So I do not know if that would make a differance.
Great buy for the price and really fast shipping.
- Cons: Might be a little heavy for some peoples tatses. But it doesnt really bother me. Its 2 lbs, but comes with decent brackets for the Mobo. Just make sure you dont crank down on the screws when attaching it to your Mobo
- Other Thoughts: Thanks New Egg!
