5 out of 5 eggs2 Years running, and still pretty cool

Pros: This cooler has been a workhorse for nearly 2 Years. I have not had any of the issues (ram heatsinks falling off). A little patience goes a long way when installing this - just remember to clean off everything with iso-propyl alcohol (including the ram) and then take your time installing the main heatsink.. give it some time to set before putting it to work.

Cons: I wish this had more copper fins for more surface area.

Small fans = more noise.

Other Thoughts: I have recently picked up a second 8800GTX and will be installing another one of these heatsinks.

Bear in mind that I have been using an antec 900 case, so yes this cooler can be loud.. but noise is obviously not something I worry about with my 4X120 and 200mm fans.

5 out of 5 eggsInsanely effective

Pros: I installed this in my Lanbox Lite on an OC'd BFG 8800GT. It mounted without any problems and I had no issues with the heatsinks not sticking because I used articlean on everything prior to the install. It only took up 1 extra slot and the cooling performance was massive. Lanboxes are mATX sized cases and are very sensitive to airflow, and my 8800GT, clocked at 625mhz with a stock cooler was idling at about 65C and on load was hitting 80C+. With the DuOrb (w/ Tuniq TX-2 paste) clocked at 700mhz I'm idling around 35C and loading well under 50C.
On full-speed it's about as quiet as the stock cooler running at low (20-30%) duty cycle.

Cons: The connector is a standard 4-pin molex, which although I'm used to having a huge array of these types of connectors for all the case fans I use, it would be much better if I could connect it to the video card so it can be controlled appropriately, but although the 8800GT is a popular card, I'm not surprised they left things as universal as possible.

Also, I could have used a bit more of a variety with the included heatsinks for my other chips that needed cooling, but again, it's incredibly minor and not unexpected. I have extra sinks which is nice.

Other Thoughts: Highly recommended for compatible cards; the only way it could be a better cooler is if it was custom-tailored for a particular card.

3 out of 5 eggsGood cooler, but not for high end cards

Pros: Quiet when turned down slightly, makes some air noise at full speed but its very hard to notice. Dropped the idle temp on my 8800gts from 55 to 50 degrees, and that's with the cooler at minimum speed.

Cons: Load temps still go up to 70 degrees.

Other Thoughts: I think it's a good cooler, but a little insufficient for high end cards, for example geforce 7800/8800/9800 cards.

Also, be patient when installing the ramsinks. Wait a bit after sticking them on, they don't stick in place at first but then they become solidly attached after you wait. I had a few fall off because I didn't wait before moving the card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Really nice cooler.

Keeps my overclocked 8800GTS card at 47C idle and 55C on load compared to 59C idle and 73C on load.

The numbers speak for themselved. I added a 120mm on the side to help with the airflow and i'm sure that helped the gpu cooler.

Be sure to use some Artic Silver 5 or Ceramique, it realy helps.

Cons: Not really a con but getting the ram heatsinks to stay on is a pain but with the help of some thermal paste like Artic Silver or other high quality grease it helps.

Other Thoughts: Worth the $40

3 out of 5 eggsAmazing cooling, but hard to get to fit

Pros: Once Installed I noticed my GPU temperature went down from an average of about 60C to never getting hotter than 40C and usually runs about 35C. I have seen a great improvement as far as video performance on my dual monitors. And the blue leds are amazing looking with my blue led case fans and cpu fan.

Cons: THIS IS HARD TO PUT ON. No joke it took me about an hour to figure out how to make the thing fit and I used to work in a computer shop and used to put these things on all the time. The first problem I had, and reading the reviews I am not the first, is that the copper fins were hitting some of the taller compactors on my video card. I ended up having to bend the copper fins up about a eighth of an inch. When I put the card in my computer the fins were also hitting the next pci slot, I was able to get it to fit by removing the two screws that secure the fan assembly to the heatsink (you will have to see the cooler in person to understand, but its still fine with out the screws it just gives you a little more adjusting room removed). The last problem I experienced is that I had bent the heatsinks so much trying to get onto my card into my case my fans were all misaligned and were rubbing, Luckily I was able to bend the fins to make it fit and not rub. You might not be however.

Other Thoughts: I would not even consider this cooler unless:

1. You have a full ATX motherboard once installed this cooler takes up a slot above and below due to the size of the cooler.

2.At least a mid-atx case this will not fit in a micro.

3. I would inspect your video card and make sure there are no large compacitors near the gpu.

Even after that be prepared and test fit everything.

4 out of 5 eggsso far so good

Pros: It dropped my idle temp by 10c.

it looks cool.

not very hard to install.

Cons: I still reach around 77c at max compatibility. Nothing major but I thought it would be better than that. I think it is a problem on my end. My case is not very good either is my room temp.

The aluminum heat sinks kept falling off. The adhesive was not very strong on them. I had to use some of my thermal compound to make them stick on.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work on 7800gs

Pros: It looks great....... But didn't work on my card.

But Newegg was very fast at sending me a return label.

Cons: DOES NOT work on the 7800GS

Other Thoughts: Right when I got it, took my video card out of my case, and started taking it apart. Got everything apart, and cleaned up. Mounted the brackets and went to test fit it, and it doesn't fit. There are some capacitors on the back of the card that wont clear the fins on the heat sink. Even though Newegg on there site says it will fit "NVIDIA 7800GS/GT/GTX ". So now I get to put my card back together and get another cooler, and do the work twice. :-(

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome cooler for my xfx 9800gt

Pros: Cools my xfx 9800gt from stock idle of about 50 C to 38C and under load never goes above 50C. The blue leds look great in the case.

Cons: The nuts on the back side of the card are a little long. i used to have my card in the first pci slot but had to move it down because the onboard audio card was in the way of the nuts...no biggie. for a 12 degree drop, i think it was worth having to reinstall the drivers.

Other Thoughts: I had to bend the cooler for it to fit because the capacitors on the card were preventing the base of the heatsink from making contact with the gpu.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler

Pros: Really does an outstanding job of cooling a 8800gt.

Cons: Instructions do not specifically address 8800gt installation, but actual procedure is pretty much self-evident.

Other Thoughts: My 8800GT (XFX Alpha Dog Edition) idle was running about 61C at an ambient room temp of 75F. Fully loaded it would hit close to 90C. After installing the CL-G0102 the card idles at 42C and does not load higher than 58C.
Quite an improvement over the original heat sink! I used artic silver 5 instead of the paste provided.
