Thermaltake continues to bring innovative solutions to CPU cooling challenges. The CLP0554 cylinder shaped CPU cooler combines multiple features for optimal cooling of high-powered CPUs. The copper and aluminum base rests directly against the chip to draw away damaging heat. Three seamlessly embedded U shape heatpipes penetrate the spiral aluminum fin array above for optimal heat transfer and dissipation. An 80mm red LED fan moves large amount of cooling air over the convection fins at a quiet noise level, and a fan control knob allows you to adjust the fan speed to reach a perfect balance between performance and noise.

Compatible with Intel CPUs using LGA 1156 / 1366 / 775 socket and AMD CPUs in Socket AM3 / AM2+ / AM2 / 939 / 754 packaging, this versatile Thermaltake model was designed to work with just about every modern desktop CPU. For ultra-cool protection and forward-thinking style, the Thermaltake Frio blows away the competition.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation The copper and aluminum base and three U shape heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density spiral aluminum fins maximize heat dissipation area, plus one 80mm red LED fans to deliver optimal cooling performance with eye-catching fun.
  • newegg Adjustable Fan Speed The Thermaltake CLP0554 features a VR fan controller so you can fine tune the fan speeds for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Excellent Compatibility The Thermaltake CLP0554 features broad compatibility with AMD Socket AM2+ / AM2 / AM3 and Intel LGA 1156 / 1366 / 775 platforms, providing an all-in-one cooling solution for your PC system.

5 out of 5 eggslooks great

Pros: keeps my whole case a little bit cooler, and the cpu around 30-34 degrees c idle.

Cons: sort of a pain to put in, but not the worst i've worked with.

Other Thoughts: it toke almost 10 degrees off the cpu compared to the stock. (idle/load) easily fits in my cm storm trooper.. wish i had a side window now more than ever.

5 out of 5 eggsget it

Pros: -20 degees (c) on all cores after installation at sustained 100% load. (I was running at between 80-82c). Motherboard sensor is consistent with -20c as well.

Idle is around 25c on the motherboard sensor, 38ish on the cores.

It took up all of the available space in my case (its biiiiig)...but that's a good thing.

...and its only $62

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to confirm that you're using the right brackets...there are two very similar (in size) brackets...and I was installing on 1156 socket...just make sure you unpacked the right ones (I didnt the first time. lol)

Also, be sure it fits in your case. It goes right up to the (width) edges on mine.

5 out of 5 eggscoolest cooler

Pros: keeps my cpu frosty, fist (just barely) in my mid tower, looks awesome, quietest fan in my case.

It's the first thing my friends comment on when they see my rig. It's an eye catcher for sure.

Modding this cooler is turning out to be super fun too. I've enjoyed all of it.

Cons: red leds look dumb in my blue lit case, wires are awful (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Immediately after I removed this cooler from the box, the "do not remove this sticker or else void warranty" sticker fell off from wherever it was. I found it torn in two on the table. So, once I realized that the cables coming out of it were an eyesore, I had no issues with hacking them up, extending them, sleeving them and tucking them out of sight.

The short lead to the fan speed controller left the little knob dangling and looking generally sloppy. I tried unplugging it but without this little potentiometer the fan would only run at about 800 rpm and with it, it would run at 1400.

So I soldered in extensions and sleeved them together, unscrewed the fan and turned it so the cable went straight up and tucked it behind a lip on my chassis (either way I installed it, the cable went to one side or the other). Looks awesome now.

Next order of business, replacing those miserable red leds with blue ones.

5 out of 5 eggsMammoth CPU cooler

Pros: This beast does a splended job cooling my 8350! idle temps are 27 and playing Eve online, Tomb Raider, Starcraft 2 maxed will only see 34 maybe 35.

Cons: doesnt fit in my mid towers. but gave me a reason to buy a full tower :)

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Fan

Pros: I love this fan. I was having some overheating issues with my i7-2600k chip in a micro ATX case. There really was not enough cooling capacity with the stock fan in a micro case. It was easy to install. I researched the height of the fan to make sure it would fit inside. I had to drill 6 holes on the outer case because the 6 tips of the fan at the top would not fit. It is a really sweet fan and the LED lights really make it "cooler". I would buy it again.

Cons: zilch

5 out of 5 eggs100th review!

Pros: Keeps my i5-2500k MAX 12C lower than stock.
Looks great.
Not that loud on max.

Cons: BIG
Not free ;)

Other Thoughts: I have the Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra
It's about an inch away from the side of the case (10 inch case width)

***Make sure your case is big enough!***

5 out of 5 eggsLooks awesome, keep CPU cool!

Pros: I have this on top of a i7 2600k, overclocked to 4ghz, and this keeps it at 35-39 degrees while gaming! which it almost 12 degrees cooler than my friends CPU with water-cooling. It's also very quiet to boot!

Cons: None
