Thermaltake continues to bring innovative solutions to CPU cooling challenges. The CLP0564 overclocking-ready and six-core ready CPU cooler combines multiple features for optimal cooling of high-powered CPUs. The copper base rests directly against the chip to draw away damaging heat. Five seamlessly embedded heatpipes penetrate the cooling fin array above for optimal heat transfer and dissipation. Dual fans, one on each side, move large amount of cooling air over the convection fins at quiet noise level, and a fan control knob allows you to adjust the fan speed to reach a perfect balance between performance and noise.

Compatible with Intel CPUs using LGA 1156 / 1366 / 775 socket and AMD CPUs in Socket AM2+ / AM2 / AM3 packaging, this versatile Thermaltake model was designed to work with just about every modern desktop CPU. For ultra-cool protection and forward-thinking style, the Thermaltake Frio blows away the competition.

  • newegg Superior Heat Dissipation The copper base and five 8mm copper heatpipes conduct heat fast; high-density convection fins maximize heat dissipation area, plus dual 120mm fans to deliver optimal cooling performance.
  • newegg Adjustable Fan Speed The Thermaltake CLP0564 features a VR fan controller so you can fine tune the fan speeds for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Excellent Compatibility The Thermaltake CLP0564 features broad compatibility with AMD Socket AM2+ / AM2 / AM3 and Intel LGA 1156 / 1366 / 775 platforms, providing an all-in-one cooling solution for your PC system.

5 out of 5 eggsSMURFING HUGE

Pros: COOL! this guy is a super cooler - running my i7 3770k at 4.2 with no more that 45 C which that board normally OCs at 65
push pull fan set up give maximum airflow

Cons: Big, gotta find something wrong. Thing is definitely a 2 person install job. glad my gf was there to help. poor instruction but not overly complicated.

Other Thoughts: need a big case, mine has plenty of room but big case. also make sure you have ram clearance before installing second fan, rotating 180 or 90 degrees will fix most clearance issues.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice cooler!! Good temps!

Pros: i7 2700k @ 37c @ 4.6ghz while playing skyrim at max settings, prime 95 max bench for 6 hours = 64c peak, Prime 95 stresses sandy more than Ivy.

For those of you wondering (will it fit with all dimm slots filled?) as long as you are using low profile ram, like corsair vengeance LP series, you will be fine. I'm using the sabertooth z77 board and I have about 1/4th inch clearance to the top of the heat spreader, so it's a tight fit, just make sure you get low profile ram.

Cons: None really, other than it's big, and awkward to put in when you don't want to hit the socket too hard while trying to install from the back of your case. Well worth the temps once it's in tho.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This CPU fan looks great, and seems great quality, can't really speak on the performance however..

Cons: The first issue I had with this fan was straight out of the box, it was missing the mounting brackets, screws, and washers. After a bit of a run around, I contacted thermaltake and got the replacement parts pretty quick, and painlessly. however the next issue came in when I was installing, it will not fit on my motherboard because I am using 4 sticks of RAM; and not the kind with heatsinks on them either..

Other Thoughts: I'm sure this is a great fan, but for me it's just been a pain in my rear, and I ended up selling it to a friend to get a liquid cooling block that would fit.

4 out of 5 eggsit cools

Pros: it cools better than the stock heatsink... fits AM3+ CPUs

Cons: its kinda loud, and a lot larger than i thought it would be... i have the thor v2 case so i wasnt really worried about it being too big but it still huge... still kinda scared its gonna snap my mobo haha..

Other Thoughts: it cools about 9 or 10 degrees better than my stock heatsink did... it was an easy install... for those that have not bought a case yet... the thor v2, i didnt have to remove my mobo to install this cooler, so it was an easy install..

5 out of 5 eggsThermaltake Frio

Pros: Huge, massive heatsink to absorb and dissapate a lot of heat. Very good high quality fans that are adjustable from slow RPM to Insane RPM which I like a lot. Mine are around 30% RPM and does a nice job.

Cons: I have the AMD LEO EDITION Case by THERMALTAKE and If you have an AMD 770 motherboard in your fine with motherboard tray cutout so you don't have to pull your board to mount this beast. I switched to an ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR V motherboard and now cpu is offset so the cutout in the motherboard tray does not line up perfectly and 2 screws are blocked requiring me to pull out the CROSSHAIR board to mount the heatsink first. Uhhhh...Sigh!!!!... Thanks THERMALTAKE. I have seen other manufacturers have a much larger cutout on their motherboard tray than the AMD LEO EDITOIN case has and it would have been a nice feature on the LEO CASE to have a larger cutout. I had practice on lots of systems so I shut off pc, pulled board, mounted heatsink (slow and carefully), put stuff back together (slow and carefully), and finished in about 1 hour. (I had lots of cables and raid-0 to keep track of).

Other Thoughts: I am not new to this heatsink, this is my second purchase of this one in the last 2 years. I highly recommend this as an ultimate air cooling solution for AMD's. The AMD setup has nuts on back of motherboard that you have to tighten carefully not too tight, but not too loose. At first I was too loose on first cooler and idle temps were at 45c, then tightened a little more and now idle temps are at 28c. AMD are user adjustable on tightness so be careful, but this is good. The Intel setup I have not tried but is spring loaded clamps which I don't like, because what the springs give you for tightness is all your going to get, there is no "A little bit tighter", and some other spring loaded brands don't tight up tight enough and temps run hot and cpu heatsink can be moved clockwise and counterclockwise on other brands after spring loaded tightening. My conclusion is this is the ultimate air cooling for AMD systems, and maybe for Intel, but not really tested personally on Intel.

1 out of 5 eggsVery BAD Service from this 2nd Hand Company

Pros: Just bought new combo 2011 from newegg and wanted to use my FRIO

Cons: Do NOT buy anything from Thermaltake - I filled in a form for a free 2011 LGA upgrade kit - they never answered !!!!!!

Bought in a local store where I could just return it within 30days - DO NOT buy anything thermaltake - I will not ever AGAIN!!!!

Zero service - ZERO, ZIP

Hi,

Did you try contacting our customer service at all to see if it was shipped out? As long as there wasn't any issues with the documentation you provided there shouldn't have been a problem in the processing of your request.

We apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately if you do not contact us to help you there's not much we can do.

1 out of 5 eggsThis thing sucks

Pros: None

Cons: Everything else...this thing sucks, everything about it sucks. I've installed 3 times making sure I did it right. Bought and Aftermarket Thermal past and still my Core i7 920 AT STOCK MIND YOU Idles at a whooping 45c. Thanks but no thanks thermaltake I'm going back to my stockcooler and ordering the frio

Manufacturer Response:

Hi there,

The Frio cooler is very highly regarded in the enthusiast overclocking community and is very easy to use. Even with one fan on the Frio you should not be getting idle temps in that range. So if you still have the cooler we recommend contacting our customer support for possible assistance but to be honest, resolving a cooling issue like that is very difficult without having the system in person to diagnose.
