2 out of 5 eggsWouldn't buy again

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: This fan is way noisier than the Intel stock heatsink and fan that it replaced. That fan was going out ('clicking') so I bought this one. The springs under the screws are ridiculously strong, it was very difficult to get the screw ends to make contact with the screwholes in the receptacle that goes under the motherboard.

I felt as I was putting it together that I was bending the motherboard and I was very worried about whether it would even boot when I started it up. Fortunately it did. But to have to take the motherboard out of the machine then find these difficulties and then end up with a much noisier PC .... well I'm disappointed.

Two eggs only, one for price and one for newegg free shipping.

But I'll be replacing this fan with another Intel stock one pretty soon.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended

Pros: No problem to install this. It has a base that it has to be fastened to that sits beneath the motherboard. So...you'll have to pull up the motherboard in order to install this cooler unless you have a similar base already beneath the motherboard. But the cooler itself is working fine. Doesn't add to much to the noise, relatively quiet.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Was glad that I purchased this item for my old socket 775 box. This type of cooler is much more secure than the push pin kind.

1 out of 5 eggsyou got to to be kidding me

Pros: none I can think of,, I could not even use it

Cons: I would not buy this ,, it wont fit my brand new lga 775 mother borad

Other Thoughts: I always used cooler master before,, this was on sale so I thought I would try it , I compared my cooler master lga 775 fan the cooler master cpu fan was a little shorter on the bottom so it made contact on the motherboard as the thermaltake did not ,, I was afraid it mite crack my new motherboard if I put too much pressure on it ,, I wont send it back I bought it cheap ,, I would not recommend it at all,,, don't buy it ,,I had good luck with cooler master it might cost more but its worth it

5 out of 5 eggsExcellant

Pros: Fan worked fine. Noise level 27db same as most comparable fans relatively quiet. Mounted to old fan mount with no problems did not use the enclosed mounting plate which requires removing mother board. Would order again and recommend.

Cons: No cons have used Thermaltake numerous times.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy Fan

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do. CPU temp stays between 36c idle and under 50c under load. Good quality for the price.

Cons: This fan noise is driving me crazy. Even throttled to 50% via bios it's noisy. Throttling it lower makes the temp rise at idle. Even gaming or listening to music, it seems impossible to drown it out. BTW, I bought one for my son's computer at the same time, it's not a defect. They are just noisy. Probably will replace them both.

4 out of 5 eggsNo PWM Control

Pros: Comes with pre-applied Thermal Compound (stock) that is spread-thin and covered with a plastic piece until you are ready to apply it to the CPU.

Has screws which hold it firmly in place.

Cools my CPU down to as low as 85 Degrees F on Idle and up to 96 Degrees F on Full Load.

Truly stays up-to-par on it's 49CFM claim.

Has a life expectancy of 40,000 Hours.

Holds up to its claim to match Socket 775 motherboards.

It looks cool and doesn't apply any pressure to my motherboard components (other than the CPU), which is great because I've had past experience with other Socket 775 CPU fans that have done this and ceased my motherboard from booting properly.

Cons: Always runs at max speed (2500 RPM) due to a 3 pin connector - at 27dBA, you can hear it very loudly (it blocks out music if on low volume).

Not really a con, but doesn't come with a sticky substance to apply the backplate onto - but I used double-sided Clear Tape and it worked just fine.

When installing the device, you must apply EXTREME pressure onto the screw, while holding the other end of the fan/heatsink down onto the CPU, while not applying too much pressure to the CPU / motherboard - if you've had experience installing these in the past, then this goes into your "worst experiences" category. My hand was hurting so badly because I had to apply so much pressure while screwing (and that wasn't even enough). This amount of pressure requirement deems this to be much easier as a 2-man (or 2-woman) job; however, it is possible to be done as just one person.

Shipped in a bubble-wrapped package, while being in the boxes inside the package. Not really a con, but could've risked damage to them.

Other Thoughts: I recommend getting this for 2 main reasons:

1) If you're replacing a plastic push-pin CPU fan that you had previous purchased and turned out to be total c-r-a-p (to the point of not being able to trust the computer to sit vertically).

2) If you're giving this to a client or friend's computer with the knowledge that this will run as loud as a stock-cooling fan, but cooler than a stock-cooling fan. This is the loudest of my 5 fans, and the worst part is that I have no control over it.

Has no copper core and weighs in at 370 grams. If this thing had a copper core and 4-pin PWM control, then this would've gotten 5-stars, if not higher. But, due to the lack of these features, I have to tolerate the noise that it comes with.

For 11 bucks with free shipping, it's a steal when giving it to clientele as replacement CPU fans or a friend as a gift, because they're used to the loud noise.

1 out of 5 eggsLoud and uncustomizable!

Pros: Easy to install.

Cons: -Loud!
-No 4 pin adapter for PWM
-Can't remove the fan to replace with a quieter one.

Other Thoughts: I wrote a review on this earlier because I was able to withstand the loudness of the fan at the time. Now I've become fed up with it. Seriously, they should allow you to remove the screws from the fan so you can replace it. The heatsink is nice, so that's why I'm disappointed.

4 out of 5 eggsA little slow at times, but overall good

Pros: It keeps the CPU at a reasonable temp.

Cons: The fan for some reasons likes to occasionally slow down like it's binding, I hadn't had this issue with the cooler before it.

Other Thoughts: If you need a heatsink that will get the job done, buy it.
