3 out of 5 eggsPowerful cooling - Cheap plastic

Pros: I had this in my last build and it was great; kept my CPU nice and cool.

Cons: -Bought this again for my new build and when inserting one of the fans, two plastic tabs broke off. Luckily, I still have two opposing tabs to lock the fan in.

-Fans are not labeled with which way they blow

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Ian,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace the broken parts through warranty service. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsBest air cooling solution

Pros: This thing is awesome. For maximum effect, discard the included heatsink and pick up some Arctic Silver. Running Prime95 torture test a modest overclock via my motherboard default turbo settings (Core i5-4460 3.2ghz @ 3.5ghz) and doesn't get over 60 degrees C, even after several hours..

Cons: Not really a con, you should know what you're buying since the dimensions are provided but if you have a mid or micro size case, good luck fitting this beast in there. It's about the size of a softball.

Other Thoughts: Use Arctic Silver

1 out of 5 eggsWay too big - Plastic breaks easily

Pros: I got x2 130mm I can still use.

Cons: Where do I start?

WAY TOO BIG. It covers up a RAM slot and weighs so much it never did sit properly against the CPU. Hung down at an angle. I had put the brackets on just like the book said to and had tightened them down as much as I could. Had way too much play in it to trust turning on that CPU.

PLASTIC PIECES BREAK OFF EASILY.
I will not be able to return this thing because while dismantling it one of the fan brackets broke off and the plastic screw spacers had stripped. I was pretty upset.

If you are looking for a nice CPU cooler - look elsewhere. This one is too big and the plastic breaks off - rendering it unreturnable.

Other Thoughts: I shouldn't have listened to my friend on this one, I do not overclock so the CPU fan that came with my CPU will be more than enough and give me room to work in the tower.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,
The Frio Advanced is a large CPU cooler meant to support up to 230W. It has a large heat sink and two fans to help cool over clocked CPUs. Thermaltake has various other CPU coolers that may have been more suitable for your specific needs. If you ever have questions regarding Thermaltake products, please contact Customer Service. They can also make recommendations as to which product would be best for your build.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Cooler

Pros: Large radiator with the good amount of heat pipes, there is high heat transfer to the radiator. Two 130 Mil fans to pull air through. Easy mounting.

Cons: The only con I see is that if you will need low profile memory on some boards.

Other Thoughts: Honestly, I knew what i was getting into with the size. The cooler is massive, compared to stock. It fits tightly in a full tower case. But, with two 130 Mil fans, you get great air flow. The kit was extremely easy to mount. I had the board ready in 5 minutes. Mounting on a i5 4670K with stock voltage, I stay a few degrees above ambient at idle and I never reach about 51 to 52 degrees under load.

Pros: This is a Monster!!! just Idle is 15C and under Load is 40C and whats Great you can Swap the Fans for Betterones and with Auto Adjust RPM Fans increase and decrease fan speed with needed.I am really pleased with this would definitely recommend.

Cons: Only real Con for me was the Installation but everything else is great

5 out of 5 eggsHuge but, fits perfectly

Pros: Excellent cooling. Keeps my Vishera 6300 six core at a 34c idle temp and around 42c under load.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This mounted perfectly on my ASUS M5A99FX board. I'm also using GSkill Ripjaw ram with high heat spreaders and I can use all 4 slots. The ram and fan on heatsink almost touch. It all fit together like they were made for each other.

3 out of 5 eggsWas ready to throw it out the window

Pros: Looks nice, has 2 fans, and keeps my 3820 at a steady 29C.

Cons: It took me an hour and a half to get it put together. If your motherboard already has a plate on the back do not use the plate that comes with it! The screws will not be long enough! The washers are also made out of really cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: Don't use the thermal paste they give you. Spend the money and get some Arctic Silver 5

1 out of 5 eggsHuge,Masive wast of money and time

Pros: if you are looking for a 5c drop in temp this is the item for you!

Cons: Very disappointed in the Cooling quality of this item, my temps only dropped 5C from my stock heat sink. Thing is Huge and takes up a ton of space. For something so Big one would think the cooling capability's would be much better. Better have a full tower or this junk wont fit.

Other Thoughts: My build is a XION Gaming Series full case, AMD FX-8350 Vishera 8 core, witch is known to run hot, 20gs of AMD Radeon™ DDR3 ram, MSI 970A-G43 mainboard.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good cooler.

Pros: Very good cooler, it provides, & delivers as it should. Install was a minor challenger, once done, it seems secure. Item is recommended.

Cons: It`s a little pricey, and it does cover a ram slot, 2 if both fans are used. In this day of advanced technology shouldn`t there be a solution to this ??? 4 instead of 5, only because of this.

5 out of 5 eggsCrazy Cool

Pros: Insane cooling difference! Before I put this monster in my case, my I-5 would hit temps up to 72C playing Bioshock infinite. So far it hasn't gone above 32C. So happy right now!

Cons: When I called this thing a monster before, I meant it. I was prepared for this heat sink to be big, but dang this thing is massive. I've got a big case so it wasn't an issue. But, just a heads up. It's very big.

Also, the instructions, as others have mentioned, do kind of suck. I know newegg has some instructional videos on their site for heat sinks somewhere. Those are much more helpful.
