3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very efficient, very quiet, and very cold. Keeps my Q6600 at 35C on stock clocks. My last big air fan could only get to 55C at idle.

Cons: Does not fit well on an LGA775 socket at all. Even though the manual says it does and gives instructions on how to setup the pump for a LGA775 socket, it did not fit correctly in any orientation. I had to bend the hell out of one of the screws to get mine secured, but even then I wonder how long that will last, or whether I'll be able to do it again if needed.

Other Thoughts: I did a lot of research on this product before buying it and could not find a lot of LGA775 owners who used it, however everything from Thermaltake said it was compatible. While I'm extremely happy that it's working and keeping my CPU cool and quiet, I'm disappointed that it took me roughly 3 hours to be set it up successfully.

4 out of 5 eggsSoftware will hurt your system

Pros: Second post for me, I had a RMA to return the CLW0217 but then decided to
make it fit or give it to my son.

It works, I like the rubber tubing, not the kinked plastic of yester years.
It's very quite, My setup makes no noise. I've heard the Fans spin up one time where I put it on extreme, was kool.

Cons: The software sucks. So many good words about it I expected more. You don't use
the liquid temp at all, I don't think it would ever show 60°C as your chip would
of shut down due to thermal limits (110°C for me).

Font size of 125% throws the whole set up off, anything to the right is clipped.
Using the help was of no use it just takes you to an advertisement.

I boot between two Win7 OS's and one Linux, One boot the fan control broke into
six different windows, taking up the entire monitor, it was great. I could read
everything, and other options opened up like a 0 to 100 scale (that did nothing)
Moving it to my second monitor it was very handy. I've never seen it since.

I've no use for the software. I use Core Temp for temp readings and the fan control
that came with my system. I purchsed a 4 pin splitter, (one connection two fans)
to operate the fans, plus I gain back a USB header.

Other Thoughts: I will add that it's too bad it's got thermal paste applied as it stops one
from playing with it to see how it fits rather than trying to get a good seat
while learning the hold down at the same time.

If you check out the H50 it has no thermal paste, but for a different reason. So many units (mine included) had deep gouges on the face,
that it had to be lapped. by not including the thermal paste as they had before They are showing that the face is flat.

Which isn't a bad idea.

3 out of 5 eggsPump noise issue...

Pros: It is a very effective cooler. The fans are silent. Fan noise is minimal unless at full speed, even then they are pretty silent. The software is a nice touch and allows you to switch between Extreme, Silent, and Custom.

Cons: The pump for this cooler makes an annoying rattling sound when you speed it up. It is very noticeable when gaming. Custom settings with the software are minimal and confusing.

Other Thoughts: I may scrap this for a good old Corsair H100 just because of the noisy pump. It is quite annoying during game play.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Baldain68,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. Please check the mounting of radiator fans. That rattling sound maybe is come from cooling fans. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

4 out of 5 eggsThermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme WILL IT FIT the Thermaltake Chaser MK-I

Pros: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme WILL IT FIT the Thermaltake Chaser MK-I
Will update my review once I get to try it, right now I'm afraid to order, since I'm not sure it'll fit... HELP

I just purchased the Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Case, I haven't built on it yet but its LARGE and seem to be of excellent Quality. Of course I'll have to update my review once I fill it up with parts.
Just wondering if anyone knows for sure that the Thermaltake CLW0217 Water 2.0 Extreme/All-In-One Liquid Cooling System will fit with the Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Thermaltake Chaser MK-I Case Model (VN300M1W2N)
Case info says Water-cooling ready design allows users to integrate 240mm liquid cooling system. But Cooler specs state Radiator Dim. 270 x120 x 38.3mm at the top of the ad but states 240mm, I'm thinking the 270mm may be with hoses and connections. Just hate to risk it not fitting.
Don't want to have to hack up my new premium case, to make it fit.

Cons: Lack of info is holding up my build! Sadly I know this info is out there somewhere. Please note that I have spent allot of time researching this info, so I'm not asking others to waste their time doing my required research for me.
I just can't find anything definite. A simple pic of the assembled combo would be great.

Other Thoughts: IMO List of cases it fits would really boost sales of this product.
I've researched this for days, and read 100s of pages of customers review but can't find any definite info that it actually does. IMO this should be available as a kit or combo.
I would think it would be, and since they are both higher end products of the same brand. Seem Thermaltake should make this info readily available for their higher end products.

Thanks in advance to anyone who will share their knowledge/experience.

I'm sure it will also help many others considering this build.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster

Pros: Although the radiator's fins only measure 25mm wide, the frame that holds water does measure 38mm wide on the ends...which equals more water capacity than the H100 and other similar competing water coolers hold. As such, this cooler is a beast...it keeps my 3570 @4.5 at a super cool 52`C on silent mode.

Cons: I was upset that the radiator fins themselves did not measure 38mm wide, but, the frame around the fins is 38mm and so it holds more water. Not really a con since I've now tested it and confirm it is much better than the H100 and other 25mm wide water coolers.

Other Thoughts: Pay the extra $30 ~ $20 for this kit and you won't have to worry about loud fans or heat issues...this thing is perfect.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Investment

Pros: Effective cooling, keeping around 28-30 running an i7-3930k @ 4.2, since i dont deal with hardcore gaming i have no reason right now to go extreme overclocking or cooling methods... yet.
Silent when running in the normal mode, have not needed to switch to extreme mode.
2011 sockets dont require a backplate to mess around with the motherboard, just place over and screw in, very easy.

Cons: No led colors in fans, leaving the top section of my Tt Lv 10 GT case dark as you have to remove the top mount fan to use the radiator in the best position.

Manual was kindof difficult to understand at first and hard to tell with the diagram how the bracket holders go onto the X-bracket.

Other Thoughts: Would like to see the Manual with updated information and better pictures overall to more clearly see how the pieces fit. Don't need the number of translated versions of the manual as they do, maybe just english, spanish, german? Seemed more on explaining via-text how to assemble than with graphics.

My PC:
Asus P9X79LE mobo
i7-3930k @ 4.2 Intel cpu w/Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme
4x8gb G.Skill 1866 ddr3 ram
Rosewill 1300W PSU
Evga GTX 660 SC+ 3gb

5 out of 5 eggsCooler Quieter Heatsink Solution

Pros: This unit will out cool any Air Based system on offering. Yes it is more than double the best air systems' price but I got what I paid for, i.e. lower temps at load and near silent operation (even at load).

The closed loop system is a viable and may I say inexpensive water cooled solution. The reservoir is the radiator it's self. The less water you have to cool, the faster you can cool it. If your case can stand it, a push/pull fan system might serve to lower temps even more, with the added advantage that overall fan speed could be reduced to even quieter operation. I will be trying that out, just for grins, in the near future. BTW, the FPI (fins per inch) are the most you can get and still maintain a practicable CFM air flow.

While not being stated by ThermalTake, I believe the pump's impeller is bearing-less and magnetically driven. A good solution when longevity is required.

Cons: I don't know about other people, but I have slight pump rattle, which comes and goes in loudness. Almost the same intensity as listening to a cheap laptop HDD read/write noise. I am pretty sure that the pump has an air bubble trapped there. ThermalTake's website says that this unit is "maintenance free" and do not address any sort of MTBF information, or troubleshooting guide. Rather than purchasing a new unit somewhere in the unforeseeable future, I would like to know the best way to get the air out, from TT, not by searching the web, which I have done to no avail. I haven't contacted ThermalTake yet but I can imagine their response..... RMA or they can't help me. Most likely ThermalTake's lack of info on their website, means that they are NOT the OEM. The "rattle/gurgle" is the only hardware issue I have.

The only other complaint I have is that the pump speed is not adjustable, either through provided software or BIOS settings. Fan speed is, to a certain extent, but only in temperature relation format. It is possible that I didn't pick up on something in the GUI, but I haven't figured out a way to change it yet. ThermalTake's support for this product is nonexistent. Maybe they will read this review and change all that. LOL Make me a liar, ThermalTake.

Other Thoughts: I can see myself moding this thing when the closed loop fails. The question is, WHEN?

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Runs my 3570K overclocked at 4.6GHz at 18C idle and 76C load - Prime95. It runs about 5-10C hotter with Intel Burn Test.

Cons: I took a gamble with it fitting in the top of my Corsair 600T. It overlaps the motherboard by 1/2 inch, but I managed to get it to fit by slightly modifying the plastic housing of the PSU plug at the top of the motherboard. I have a ASUS P8Z77-V PRO.

Other Thoughts: Had this cooler for four months. It's big, so make sure your case can mount it.

4 out of 5 eggsLiquid cooling without the liquid

Pros: I like the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme (TTW2.0E). It looks good, It keeps the cpu cool, and it feels well built and the fit and finish are all good. I did find the instructions to be lacking. There are a lot of tips and tricks that are not obvious in the 6 page manual. The backing plate is no doubt a marvel of engineering. It allows for the mounting of several sockets for AMD and Intel. I have an LGA1155 and when correctly mounted the backing plate is not perfectly straight. This is working as intended and a little blurb in the manual would have saved me some head scratching.

Cons: For me it made the most sense to mount the backing plate, the fans to the radiator, the radiator to the case, the pins to the pump, and finally the pump to the CPU. Again this isn't in the manual so you just need to plan it out in your head before assembly. If you follow the manual you will be mounting the pump first. This will leave you with a very short leash to attach everything else.

The mounting hardware was also very small and hard to read. The manual again wasn't very clear on how to position the multipurpose clips so it took some trial and error to get everything lined up.

Other Thoughts: When I put my system together this solution was not available. I was going to buy a Corsair H100 but at the time it was receiving iffy reports. I ended up installing with the stock Intel fan. The stock fan was ugly, noisy, and didn't keep the cpu particularly cool. But the system was together and running so I left it alone for 10 months after purchasing this unit.

Manual shortcomings aside. The unit installed very comfortably. It really feels nice to screw metal into metal. The stock cooling fan's plastic pins always feel like they are going to snap off and leave you in bad shape. The (TTW2.0E) tightened down to the backing plate snug, solid, and straight. It had a really satisfying permanent feel to it. I thing you could lift the entire computer from the mounting hardware.

I wish I installed the (TTW2.0E) sooner.
