5 out of 5 eggsCar technology in a computer

Pros: Cools your CPU better than most stock or heatsink and fan coolers. Easy to install as long as it fits in your case. Used the NZXT Phantom mid tower black case for my dad's pc build. Very good temps. Idles around 35-40 C depending on what thermal paste you use and how well the area where your pc sits is ventilated. Highest I saw it go was around 50-55C but rarely. Using this on an AMD Phenom II X4 970 with no overclocking. Can probably perform even better if you add 2 fans on the radiator but will work great with just one. Fan speeds will obviously play a role in this too. You can always buy higher rpm fans and install 2 on the radiator which will give you the best results.

Cons: Not free.

Other Thoughts: Liquid cooling is the way to go. If you want a simple easy setup up all in one kit, this is it. I would totally buy this one again for my next build. Please read the manual it comes with if you are new at this. You can also check out youtube videos on how these can be installed.

3 out of 5 eggsPump failed after 10 months

Pros: Did a very good job cooling my 4GHz FX-8120 (overclocked). Under 60c in the summer while folding on all cores.

Cons: Worked fine until today. The pump started rattling very loudly. Loud enough to be heard down the hall through a closed door.

Other Thoughts: I have an eRMA from TT and hope to get a replacement. Fortunately, I saved the previous cooler so I can probably get the machine back up and running today.

3 out of 5 eggsBad wiring

Pros: With a little pampering, this performed nearly as well as my aging Corsair H50.

Cons: Initially, the pump did not function as one of its power wires had come loose. After redoing the poor solder job of its connectors, everything worked/works fine.

5 out of 5 eggsgood cooling

Pros: good cooling
easy install(AMD plate)

Cons: needs better tubing

Other Thoughts: had this for almost a year no leaks so far. cooling is great keeps my fx6300 at 17c idle and 30c at load. install was easy since my motherboard was out of the case. it might be a little harder to put the back mounting plate of the a80 on if your motherboard is in a case with a small rear cpu window. last it would be better if this had soft flexible rubber tubing instead of hard rubber tubing.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good!

Pros: The system did an excellent job at cooling my 6 core 3.6 processor. Temp stayed well below 40 degrees Celsius.

Cons: Major issue: Everything was fine the first two weeks. But I then heard dripping noises. I opened up the case and the radiator was leaking. (Luckily off to the right side of the PS) No damage too my system; luckily.

Also, the water block does not fit very well. Really has to be forced on

Other Thoughts: Guess that is what you get when you pay for the cheapest item available.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Buck,
We at Thermaltake apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We can replace it through warranty service. Please contact our customer service team for RMA instructions.

5 out of 5 eggsfx8350 at 39C -- for professional to be mounted

Pros: It is a delicate water cooler. You need to be careful when mounting this cooler, it is too fragile for average people. You cannot explore water cooling mounting with it.
Great design. Precise design. A bit tricky. Too fragile, to be point of calling it flimsy.

English instructions are quite precise, except for documenting the screws (two set of screws with springs are provided, one for AMD and the other for Intel).

AMD FX-8350 at 39C and at 57C under load, no overclocking.

Cons: Can be flimsy. Do not make a discovery on this thing. It may break.

Replace the fan with a cougar vertex ($10). Mount the fan first, then install the cooler, going in the position that will get less stress on the hoses.

The screws are too short to mount the fan+radiator from the external enclosure.
I had to use the two screws provided to install the fan (screws go diagonally), and two short-thick fan screws go into the mounted radiator+fan from the outside.

Other Thoughts: Great water cooling. Be patient when installing it, otherwise you will break it and you will tear your hair off. It is a bit flimsy. It is made in China, so what do you expect.

4 stars. But I will give it 7 stars comparing it to other prices. It is a winner.
