Untouchable cool

No matter how big your RAM physically is, the Thermaltake NiC series (The lineup consists of the F3, F4, C4, and C5) CPU cooler can stay with your RAM side by side on your motherboard. That is thanks to its proprietary technology. Now your CPU cooler not only delivers superior cooling performance with a low noise level, but also offers the maximum compatibility with RAM. The Thermaltake NiC series F4 offers up to 180W cooling power.

overview picture

  • newegg Offers maximum clearance for your RAMs The new Thermaltake NiC series CPU cooler offers the maximum clearance for your RAMs after installation. Your high-end overclocked RAM now can co-exist with your high-end CPU cooler.
  • newegg Conducts heat effectively, all the way up to the aluminum fins The included thermal grease makes your CPU cooler and CPU contacted seamlessly for fast heat conduction from the CPU to the cooler base with Direct Contact heat pipes. The four F6mm heat pipes then transfer the heat to the aluminum fins.
  • newegg Curved Aluminum Fins In order to reduce back air resistance and maximize airflow through the aluminum fins, the aluminum fins are designed in a curved shape. The 0.4mm-thick aluminum fins also increase the overall thermal dissipation area.
  • newegg Integrated Dual 120mm PWM fans The integrated dual 120mm PWM fans’ speed can be adjusted between 800 to 1600rpm. The tool-less fan slip makes fan installation and removal a snap.
  • newegg Universal compatibility with CPUs This CPU cooler features an all-in-one back-plate design. All accessories are included to support all the latest Intel and AMD platforms (Intel LGA 2011/1366/1155/1156/1150/775 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2).

1 out of 5 eggsLow Quality

Pros: Price

Cons: Noise gets worse over time, even after cleaning the coils and fans several times. This thing is huge. Fans and fan clips are super cheap. Noise got so bad I replaced it after a few months.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: easy to install even though the amd side was to small for my amd chip but the intel side works fine.

Cons: way bigger then i thought but it still fit in my case but i would recommend having a case with a extended side panel. the fan clips were kinda hard it get in and they dont seem very snug

4 out of 5 eggsNice cooler, but hard to install

Pros: Cools much better than stock heatsink, and looks great in my case. It is nice and big, with plenty of mass. The whole thing seems well-designed, and well-built. It fit in my in win case with around an inch to spare (it has a protruding clear case, but it would probably fit inside a regular one, though barely). It has nice mounting gear so that once installed, it it will only lessen its grip if you unscrew the backplate. Quieter than my GPU :p I LOVE the fan clips. just bent wires, but very easy to work with. pure genius. I couldn't imaging trying to get a screwdriver to put the fans on (which, in my build, was the very last thing to do). If it weren't for these, I would have had one or two screws holding on each fan :o

Cons: It looks they designed this to be as big and efficient as possible... but wow, it is pretty hard to install. I know install difficulty is a trade-off with efficiency and effectiveness with a heatsink, so i debated about taking an egg off at all. But... it was just such a pain to install I took one off for it ... I kept running into what seemed to be an endless series of catch-22's with the install. So I actually installed it about 4 times, despite my best pre-planning lol I installed it inside my case, but I don't see how it would be much different outside, simply because it would be very difficult to get to the MOBO screws with this behemoth in the way. I dont even know if I would be able to run necessary cables with it installed before i put the MOBO in.

Other Thoughts: Overall I am happy with the purchase. It does exactly what I want and is quiet to boot. I had some issues with my case, but the though of having to reinstall this thing again made me think again :o

4 out of 5 eggsNo water

Pros: Very good cooler Keeps my AMD 7850K at 24c idle and 40c or below running BF4 easy to install on FM2+ socket.

Cons: One egg off for fan mounts very frustrating unless you install out of the case.

Other Thoughts: I'm very impressed with this cooler highly recommend

2 out of 5 eggsGood Cooler - Install on LGA 2011 not that Smooth

Pros: Quiet Fans
Lots of Airflow
Does its Job of Cooling the CPU better than most
Got it on the cheap

Cons: Install on a 2011 Processor was a bear. Although I've installed probably 10 or more coolers like this one on various computers, the instructions are Vague at best which is not a big deal really. However, the screws to install the cooler are a bit too short which creates a problem when trying to install it.

The backplate that goes on the backside of the motherboard is plastic, not metal like most of the other brands have. The plate actually cracked while I was installing it.

The fan clips are yet another irritation on the install of this fan, just the style of the clips are odd and difficult to put in. They go inside small holes on the cooler, most others attach the fan and hook into the cooler. Hard to explain, but its not easy to attach the fan.

Other Thoughts: In my complete computer build, installing this cooler took more time than any other component to install. Mostly because the screws were too short.

I will not be using any Thermaltake coolers on my rigs anytime soon, this one left a bad taste in my mouth.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It was cheap with what used to be a good quality name.

Cons: The heat sink is not solid. It's cheap with gaps between the heatsink and the heat pipes. It won't keep my new AMD FX-9370 Vishera cool under load very well at all. Return? I have had it less than a month and the manufacturer warrantee is already out of date.

4 out of 5 eggsBetter Instructions

Pros: Decent enough of a cooler that works good. Allows for extra tall memory chips without hitting them. While doing a video encoding project, running all cores at 100% for 4-6 hours, One core hit 60C and the others hit 58C. You don't have to use the stock fans that come with it, as any 120mm fans will work.

Cons: The included fans are wired together so you have to use both. The instructions tell you how to have the hex-head bolts so they don't slip. My cooler came with round-head bolts. Taking a closer look at the pictures on Newegg, it also shows round-headed bolts. As other people have mentioned, the fan mounting clips are flimsy, and have a hinky, wonky, funky way of clipping on. It is also difficult to clip the fans on once the cooler is in place. The catch 22: can't install the cooler with the fans mounted, can't mount the fans once the cooler is mounted.

Other Thoughts: This puppy is tall. Have about 1/2 inch clearance between the top of the cooler and the side panel on my Antec 1100 Illusion Super Mid-Tower, which is 9 1/2 inches wide. Instead of the stock fans, I installed two Apevia CF12SL-SGN fans that have rubber anti-vibration pads. I think these are helping to keep the fans in place. These fans have a lower RPM rate, but they look better, keep the CPU cool and don't sound like a wind tunnel either.

4 out of 5 eggsNice and Cool CPU

Pros: Easy install. Is keeping CPU plenty cool. Like the double fans.

Cons: Too tall for the case I bought, had to remove the 200mm side fan. Case is a APEVIA X-DREAMER4 Series.

Other Thoughts: Build:
- APEVIA X-DREAMER4 Series X-DREAMER4-GN Black / Green Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
- ASUS P9X79 PRO LGA 2011 Intel X79
- Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz Processor
- EVGA 04G-P4-2647-KR GeForce GT 640 4GB Video Crd
- Thermaltake NiC F4 (CLP0606) 120mm CPU Cooler (Would not select this product for this case again)
- CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3(This was on special, would go with 4X4 with this motherboard otherwise)
-Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Full Version) - OEM
-Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
-OCZ ZT Series 750W Fully-Modular 80PLUS
:-) Basically plug and play build, no initial post or boot issues.
