The forged copper design of the Swiftech MCX159-CU chipset cooling fan and heatsink combo provides exceptional cooling in situations where space may be limited, like in some SLI or Crossfire boards. It ships with mounting hardware for both Intel and AMD based systems. The 40mm fan moves 6.3cfm of air for increased thermal efficiency.
Swiftech's MCX159-CU keeps your chipsets happy and humming no matter the load!

Good 'n' quiet
- Pros: Fan is super quiet and easily replaced. Looks and feels solid. Good design. Most confident mounting system of any AMD-compatible (two hole) NB cooler I've seen: Much better than springloaded pegs. Tight fit on an EPoX 9NPA+Ultra w/ a large PCIe vid card, but fits fine if you play w/ bracket. Included AS Ceramique a very nice touch.
- Cons: Tough to install, requiring MB removal. Also, tricky to get washers and other doo-dads in mounting system to seat well. Pricey. Fan only has 2 leads.
- Other Thoughts: Don't overtighten the fan retention screws or you can bend the pins on the HS (they pop right back, though). Much better to bite the bullet and do this at first build as getting this thing on while MB has other stuff on it is very hard. Nevertheless, once this thing's on, it's staying. You can buy (but not here) replacement fans of the same make as included fan w/ 3 leads so that your BIOS/MBM can track this guy. They fit fine and it's probably best to have a few on hand for the day that the included one gets loud/dead.
Glad I bought this
- Pros: 11C drop in temps on my DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert motherboard compared to the stock cooling I was getting 55C Idle temps with stock cooling solution.
- Cons: Fan is kind of ugly and plain and it does not have RPM sensor on it, so you have to disable that in the bios.
- Other Thoughts: Yay! I can now overclock some more! At first I was scared to buy this being afraid I woudn't be able to use my top PCI-X slot, but it fits just barely with my XFX 7800gt, so top slot it is!

quality and quiet
- Pros: Nobody seems to make a CPU cooler specifically for a Motorola Power PC G4. But this one works really well. It's now been keeping my rare AmigaOne CPU cool and healthy for about three years. The fan is still running fast and quietly. Well worth the money.
- Cons: Not the easiest item to mount. It needed a little adapting to work with my non-standard installation. It's REALLY heavy, if that's an issue for anyone.
- Other Thoughts: In spite of the weight of this fan/heatsink, it has not caused any trouble with the Meg_Array socket which mounts the G4 to the motherboard.
Not bad, can be improved
- Pros: Copper, plenty of surface area, flat base, complete mounting kit, fits in micro-ATX shoebox mobo tray
- Cons: Copper very soft, needs better fan, long screws--replacements cannot be found anywhere. Odd #of tines in the grid means that retention springs don't cross the exact center.
- Other Thoughts: This is a soft copper heatsink, forged (impressive!) with plenty of surface area. The fan included does not really move enough air to keep it cool. (I don't OC but I do like electronics kept cool). I've replaced it with a 15 CFM 40mm fan, with a 5mm thick spacer (the frame of an old, failed fan). (Why the spacer? The tines below the fan hub get very little air; with the spacer they get a generous flow.) This arrangement would need longer screws, but #4 machine screws over 2'' are hard to find, at least in qty < 10,000. Instead I dremel'd the fan to allow the screws to enter on shoulders of the correct height.
Before the mod, the entire heat sink was uncomfortably warm to the touch; now the base is quite warm (but not uncomfortable) and all but the base of the tines are just above ambient. Much nicer.
Fits Nvidia 570 SLIT-A v5.1 Mobo
- Pros: My mobo has 2 wire hooks to hold the northbridge heatsink and fan in place. The original northbridge fan failed, and I was having a hard time finding an aftermarket replacement that would fit. Happily, this one did, and installed in about 15 minutes, without mobo removal. One item of note, the springs that ship with the product are too wide for this mobo. I scavenged the spring from the original heatsink, and it worked just fine. Inclusion of the arctic silver ceramique was a nice touch. Instructions were easy to read and follow.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Very pleased with this purchase, as it lets me milk this machine for a tad longer. No appreciable change to system noise, and thermal profile is about identical to what I started with, but improvement wasn't my objective.

The all-copper forged thin-pin design provides nominally better performance than earlier MCX159 designs. The Ultra quiet (18 dBA) VAPO bearing Sunon 40mm fan offers superior MTBF to most stock chipset fans, guaranteeing peace of mind for 5 years or more. This extreme duty heatsink, coupled with Sunon's whisper quiet and high reliability fan make the MCX159-CU an ideal companion to our "V" series heatsinks. This solution is also suggested as an alternative for use with liquid cooling systems in lieu of a chipset waterblock. It provides in effect more than sufficient cooling performance without adding unnecessary restrictions to high-flow cooling systems. This will result in overall lower temperatures at the CPU and VGA level, where it really counts. The MCX159-CU is shipped with hold-down mechanisms for both Intel® and AMD® platforms.
