4 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

Pros: I've built two systems using this cooler.

System 1
CPU: Core i5 2500k
Compound: Chill factor III thermal paste (came with it)
Application method: center-glob
Temperature: 23 °C, not overlocked

System 2
CPU: Core i5 2500k
Compound: Arctic Silver 5
Application method: credit card spreading
Temperature: 33 ° C overclocked to 4.3ghz

Cons: In one system the heatsink/fan rotates slightly downward (clockwise) from its weight and doesn't stay perfectly perpendicular to the motherboard.

Other Thoughts: The instructions aren't that great, so pay attention to the drawings. Also, I wasn't sure which way to face the fan for the best airflow but that was easy enough to look up online.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best

Pros: The highest quality heatsink your money can buy. This thing just feels solid.... I am sure I will have this cooler for a long long time. The fan is quiet and the unit itself outperforms pretty much everything on the market. Thermalright is my new fav heatsink company.

Cons: It is more expensive than some other coolers... but I speak from experience that you get what you pay for with this kinda thing.

Other Thoughts: Can't wait to get another fan to do a push pull setup.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat cooler

Pros: This heat sink keeps my system running very cool. I left it running downloading from steam all night and it still keeps my system running at 31c at idle and when I am stress testing (still downloading also) it goes up to 62c I tried prime95 and the intel extreme tuning utility, both with the same result. The fan is so quiet, you will not notice it running. Excellent CPU cooler for the money.

Cons: This thing is HUGE! You will almost certainly have to take your motherboard out of its case to mount it.Some people have complained about the fan blocking the first ram socket but its not an issue with the X58 motherboard I have. The white fan shroud is not as attractive as a black one would have been

Other Thoughts: Intel 960 3.2 ghz OC to 4.01 ghz standard /4.3 ghz turbo
Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 - 1600 Ram

5 out of 5 eggsCool and Quiet

Pros: Excellent cooler. This is a large cooler, but buying this you've come to expect this. Despite that this cooler fit very adequately in an Antec 902 mid tower case, with some caveats.

I was not able to fit a side fan once this was in, however the cooling to the CPU is worth this sacrifice, as better cooling is getting to the part that needs them.

This is a high quality product. Every screw, every bracket is thick, and solid. No bendy brackets or easily stripped screws will be found here. The mounting system is a tank, and is extremely easy to set up. There are videos on Youtube clearly explaining the process so don't be intimidated.

The fan itself, is ridiculously quiet. So much so that I didn't know it was on and got scared when I first started it. I used a Fanmate fan controller on it, thinking I could crank it up~ not realizing it was already at maximum speed.

Despite the 1300 RPM and silent, this cooler dropped temps by almost 20 degrees for me on load. It's spectacula

Cons: No extra fan clips are included with this product, while the original Ven-X comes with two pairs for a push-pull configuration. The fan holder is good though, so I do plan on purchasing another one. Very easy to put on.

Beware of clearance issues on 1156/1155 boards. This will cause issues with your first memory slot due to its width. Even if low clearance RAM would fit with just a fan, keep in mind the fan holder is a thick shroud and may make it difficult. Worse comes to worse, fan clips can be purchased for the Venomous-X and the holder removed.

Not a fan of the white shroud, Black would have been a better choice.

Getting access to wrench the pressure vault screw is difficult with the fan on. Ram may have to be removed to get clearance to make adjustments if needed.

Other Thoughts: Pressure mounting system is awesome, however keep in mind there are reports of processors being crushed by too much pressure.

Normally these are people who do 'washer mods' and other things to a system that already gives off an amazing amount of pressure. I gave it some solid turns and didn't push my luck, but it's definitely on there with more contact than any other heat sink I've ever used.

It was between this and the Prolimatech Megahalem. Was a very hard choice to make. Both of these heatsinks are amazing, and in some ways the Megahalem is superior. However for the price on Newegg~ and including a SOLID and effective SILENT fan as part of the package out of the box...?

I made the right choice.

4 out of 5 eggsWay better than the stock cooler

Pros: my cpu used to idle at 35, but now its down to 23. opens up the option for me to over clock if i were so inclined.

Cons: the screws and clamp were awful to put on. would of been a better design if the clamp were to somehow connect with the cooler. something more than just a notch.

Other Thoughts: fits snugly in my COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP Black SECC/ ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Cooler

Pros: Great cooling! Decent mounting system, well made, reasonably quiet. Reasonable price.

Cons: Instructions were a bit weak.

Other Thoughts: I replaced a Scythe Ninja with this cooler on an OC'd i7 920 (3.8GHz) mounted to an ASUS P6T-SE. No clearance problems with either the Mobo, or my case (Antec p180). Idle and full-load temps dropped an average of 17 degrees, and the max temp difference between cores went from 13 degrees to 4. Full-load I'm seeing max temps hitting 82 on my hottest core - and it was hitting 100 with the Scythe. Anyway, I like this better than the Noctua NH-D14 I have in my other system which was MUCH more expensive. It's worth noting that the base-plate was NOT flat, but that hasn't seemed to hurt performance. I coated both base plate and CPU with at thin coat of Arctic Silver, assembled the mount, and as I tightened down the screws (alternating side to side) I would gently rotate the heatsink back and forth to help "smooge" the compound together - and it seems to have worked. I maxed out the "pressure screw" BTW - which also seems to have worked.

1 out of 5 eggsMissing a FAN!

Pros: looks nice

Cons: It's HUGE it sticks out like 8 inches from the motherboard I have no idea if ANY case can fit this thing

Other Thoughts: Wouldn't know it says it comes with a fan but it's missing one, trying to get RMA info from newegg right now to fix it

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing cooler

Pros: This is an outstanding CPU cooler. If you look around you'll see it consistently ranks towards the top of CPU cooling benchmarks, and it's no joke. With ambient temperatures of 23-24C, my i7 2600K idles around 28-30C. Moderately overclocked to 4.0Ghz, running Prime95 blend tests, it barely breaks 50C. If you're an enthusiast looking to get the most out of your overclock or if you just love seeing really cool temperatures on your processor... well this is the heatsink for you.

Very easy installation, included directions are accurate (this shouldn't be a pro, but considering the directions I've found with other heatsinks...) thermal paste included is high quality.

Cons: It's rather large, but you knew this already. The more surface area, the more heat gets displaced, the lower temperatures you get. That said, if you have a mid tower you should check the dimensions and make sure this will fit in your case. I have a Cooler Master HAF932 and it fits with room to spare.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you follow the directions closely. Pay attention to when you're supposed to put the rubber washers on... it's easy to miss.

On my P8P67 Pro motherboard the fan did not cover up any of the DIMM slots, but I've heard this can be a problem on other boards.

5 out of 5 eggsThe BEST!

Pros: Wow, what can I say? This cooler is amazing. I am currently running my i5 750 at 4.0ghz and this thing keeps the temps under 72C! I am using the stock fan and it's whisper quiet due to the fluid dynamic bearings.

Cons: The mounting system is a bit more tricky than your average stock cooler, but the manual is very good at explaining everything.

Other Thoughts: I've had it running at 4.4ghz, but the temps were hovering between 85-88C which is a little too hot for my liking. I will probably go for that mark again when I got another fan for push/pull.
