Great cooler but it's to large
- Pros: Does a great job cooling the CPU, my 8400 is running at 30C (not overclocked)
- Cons: It's huge. It's so tall that I can't put the side onto my case (CoolerMaster WaveMaster). If it were an inch shorter it would be perfect. The next time I build a system I'll get something a little smaller.
bring it back newegg! plz!
- Pros: Best cooler made! This is the 3rd update, see my posts when this cooler first came out. As we all know TR modded the mounting systems. As i noted early, but not well known the hs is dished for better cooling. The new 1366 brackets make this the best i7 cooler made!
- Cons: You must addd more compound due to dish design and make sure you contacts well. You need extra pressure to get the full benfit. WSZ uses these for systems at 4.2ghz for air cooled qx9650 and we get 60-65c temps at full load. Bending the mounting arms helped the old mounts then new mounts work out of the box great! There is 3 different mounts the last is a great systyem.
- Other Thoughts: Bring it back neweGG!!!!! The best i7 cooler made!
Cools like no other
- Pros: This things cools like no other (on air)
Yes it is tricky to install. I installed it with the MOBO in my case (Cool Master COSMOS 1000), I got several cuts on my hands until I read the statement "Install with MOBO out of case and supported from behind". O.K. I was the NOOB on that one. But I stull got it installed.
The screws are "just" the right length. I installed it on an ASUS M3N-HT Mempipe DLX with an AM2 6000+, keeps idle temps at 40C, and gaming in Crysis at about 50C.
The springs are beefy on the retention screws so it is difficult to push them into engage the threads properly.
- Cons: Difficult to install if you do not read the directions on the website.
Comes in a plain ugly cardboard box Comes with so-so heatsink compound
- Other Thoughts: If you have invested this much in a heat sink, buy the good heat sink compound, don't use what was included.
I don't see why cheap compound was included with a top of the line "air" heatsink. Make sure you have the room, this thing is tall.
Read the directions online and in the manual first.
Do not over tighten the screws. I wathed someone do this. The tell tale cracking sound from the MOBO will let you know you have gone too far.
Just tighten enough to completely engage the threads in the retaining device so the screw is flush on the backside of the nut...NO FURTHER.
Install this out of the case on a firmly cushioned ESD mat.
Good luck
