Thermalright's HR-05-SLI copper heatsink has a spectacularly efficient heatpipe and fin design that eliminates the need for a fan. Designed for SLI/Crossfire systems it provides highly efficient chipset cooling, even over two boards.

The 30 x 30mm copper base has dual heat pipes that rise up through a series of copper fins for increased heat radiation. The fins have a proprietary hole design to improve ventilation efficiency. The whole unit is nickel plated for an attractive look and corrosion resistance. Further cooling efficiency can be achieved with the addition of a regular 70mm fan (optional) to the fins.

Got rid of eVGA 680i noisy fans

Pros: I was able to replace both my noisy stock northbridge and southbridge fans with two of these on my eVGA 680i SLI LT motherboard. I was surprised that they both fit, even though I have the huge Zalman 9500 CPU fan, and the eVGA GeForce ULTRA 8800. If I reposition the southbridge heatsink slightly, I might be able to squeeze a second eVGA GeForce ULTRA 8800 video card in there.

Cons: I was not really sure if I needed to use the sticker cushion thing or not that comes with the HR-05 SLI, but I used it anyways and it seems to work.

Other Thoughts: It took me a while to figure out how to remove my old southbridge and northbridge stock cooling fans. I eventually just used a pair of pliers to yank the spring-loaded stock push pins down and released (which caused it to slingshot acrossed the room)

Pros: responce to user 'waste of money' post "why me" sorry to hear about your lose dude, however thank you for admitting that it might be your own fault and that the cause was probably static..I have been pounding that into the posts on RAM for months now, none of them have any idea...they think they all just get bad sticks of RAM...I'M TERRIBLY SORRY FOLKS BUT A MANUFACTURER WOULD GO BROKE IF THEY RELEASED THAT MANY BAD PRODUCTS. FINALLY I see someone on this site admit that it may be static that fried a chip....I WOULD SAY MAN THAT YOUR GUESS IS 100 PERCENT CORRECT AND EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED!!!! thus is the reason why EVERYTIME i touch any of my parts or reach in my case the power is turned OFF and I am wearing a static strap...FOR LESS THAN 10 BUCKS YOU COULD HAVE SAVED THAT BELOVED MOTHERBOARD...i hope you return to the post and see it, if you have not already...go get a static strap and save yourself the same headache in the future....cont in other

Other Thoughts: those that don't know what i'm talking about it's called ESD (electro static discharge) the amount of static that it take to fry a chip is hundreds times less than you feel when you shock yourself by touching say a car door. you can and eventually will fry a chip and not even know it. check it out, read your manuals they ALL tell you to ground yourself somehow when handling PC parts and the best way of doing that is with a static strap.

Very good cooler

Pros: Lowered my NB temps noticeably. My northbridge chip no longer bakes my case.

Cons: Not a secure fit. Using the metal plate that "straps" the heatsink down, it will move a little if you push it. But unless you touch it, it will be fine.

Other Thoughts: Fits inside of a Gigabyte P35-DS3L with about 1 cm clearance above the video card. Will not get in the way of even the largest CPU cooler.

Pros: good hs. keeps things frosty

Cons: a tad big but that doesnt matter if you measure before buying

Other Thoughts: you dont need to buy extra stuff like static straps in order to keep from frying parts. as long as you are smart and take caution with what you are doing then you can save yourself some money. this is coming from someone who works on their computer on carpet with socks on....

Pros: Great passive heatsink. Replaced my old noisy fan heatsink on NB chip.

Cons: large space needed around NB chip for this to fit.
