4 out of 5 eggsPotentially Noisey, Keep on Low Setting

Pros: These fans move air in or out of the computer case depending on which way you install them. Also, they have three settings; low, medium, and (obviously) high. I believe these came with extra cables and screws. These light up or make obnoxious blinking strobe effects or anything.

Cons: High setting sounds like an industrial fan.

Other Thoughts: Perhaps it is unfair of me to give these fans 4/5 Eggs. I set these fans on high upon originally installing them and they were extremely loud. My two roommates and I had our computers in the same room and they would frequently complain about how loud these fans were. For the sole purpose of annoying my roommates I left them on high until they moved (I might add they did not move because of the computer noise). I have recently turned these fans on low and have NOT noticed any significant changes in CPU or case temperature. I would definitely purchase these again.

3 out of 5 eggsNoisy

Pros: Inexpensive, controls off fan-local temperature

Cons: Noisy, even on slow speed. Would hate to hear this thing when it gets hot.

1 out of 5 eggsLouder than advertised

Pros: They put out a decent amount of air.

Cons: I bought 2 of these to replace a couple of 120mm cheap sleeve fans. Both were rated at 29db, but since the sleeve fans failed so quickly , I thought why not replace these with some quality ball bearings?

Bad idea, these are at least twice as loud as the cheapies they replaced.

Other Thoughts: If noise is a concern look else ware.

Manufacturer Response:

Tojoski,
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. It sounds like you may have received a defective item. We do provide a one year warranty from the date of purchase on your product, so feel free to get that exchanged for a brand new unit. Please contact support@vantecusa.com so we can begin your RMA process.

5 out of 5 eggsInteresting Discovery

Pros: Moves a decent amount of air fairly quietly, and after a year of service, baring some expected maintenance, is pretty much trouble free.

Cons: Just who makes this thing, anyway? Vantec ... or Y.S. Tech?

Other Thoughts: This fan has served well, but as with all mechanical devices, a little maintenance helps. So, when this started to not kick over right away in the mornings on a cold start, (thusly setting off the motherboard fan alarm for a while) I unmounted it, and peeled the back label off to put a drop or two of machine oil into the bearing.

What I found, was a Vantec ThermoFlow (Made in Taiwan) sticker, slapped on top of a Y.S.Tech (Made in China) sticker, which covered the bearing access.

A drop of oil did the trick, and this fan is turning once again moving air exactly as it was intended to do, but the question remains ... who really built it, and where?

:D

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Fan Works Well

Pros: Works really great and is fairly quiet.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for a new build as the case didn't have a side fan and it has been working great and very quiet.

5 out of 5 eggsNice fan.

Pros: Nice and quiet. Moves lots of air.

Cons: Why use the molex connectors? A four-pin setup would have been a much cleaner install. The wire to the Mobo had only one thin wire.

Other Thoughts: Buy without hesitation. Make sure you have the extra molex connectors.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Keeps my computer cool, not that loud.

Cons: The fans won't run off the power from the motherboard. You have to connect it to your power supply. Now I have no available connectors if I wanted to add something else to my PC.
