Most recent video cards come with a heatsink, a fan, or a combination of both already attached to the main chip. However, these units are usually there for nothing more than aesthetics, offering little functionality. That's why Vantec offers the ICEBERQ all-in-one VGA and chipset cooling kit. With a powerful 5000RPM fan and the option of an aluminum heatsink (CCB-A1A) or a copper heatsink (CCB-A1C), the ICEBERQ quickly dissipates heat from the VGA chip, extending the life of your video card. The included heatsinks can be utilized on supplementary chips on the video card or chipsets on the motherboard, adding to the versatility of the ICEBERQ.

  • newegg Copper VGA and Chipset Cooling Kit Including a copper heatsink and a ball bearing fan with up to 5000RPM, the Vantec Iceberq cooling kit delivers exceptional cooling capability ideal for use with VGA chip or chipsets on motherboard.
  • newegg Easy to Use The push pin of the fan allows easy and quick installation.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It fills a need. Great little fan.

Cons: All I really wanted was the little fan, but it's cheaper to buy the set. ?? Loud w/o a fan controller.

Other Thoughts: These fans are perfect for lightweight video cards and chipsets.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat fan replacement

Pros: Great vga fan replacement.Bought it for a geforce fx 5200
card that the fan had went out on.Fit the board mounting perfectly. It was harder removing the old one then installing ths one.
I didn't use the chipset heatsinks but they seemed to be of good quality.

Cons: The only con I saw was the fan had a 3 pin connector instead of a 2 pin like most gpus.It can still be connected straight to the motherboard or you can use the enclosed
perpherial adapter to hook it to your PSU.Not really a major problem though.

Other Thoughts: Don't forget to get some artic silver to go with it.It does come with some basic white thermal compound though.

2 out of 5 eggsNoisy....

Pros: it's pretty..

Cons: Replaced an earlier vantec fan on my 9200 Radeon video card with this one. From initial installation on it has been very noisy and the whole card vibrates a bit, like the fan is out of balance.

Other Thoughts: Saw an earlier review with same issue and reviewer suggested attaching to connection to motherboard to lower voltage/fan speed. May have to try it.

4 out of 5 eggsStill moving 680i (Mobo) @ 1675 FSB...

Pros: It was one of the few options for a fan at the time, back in 07! It's on my southbridge and voltage is 1.5v with my overclock too. Bright side, it fits where most coolers can not!

QX6700
FSB 1675 & 1800's...

Cons: Dinky blocks, seem like ano'd aluminum alloy... don't use that Vantec thermal grease that's included, it may be old and separated... Buy some AS Ceramique II to be safe.

Other Thoughts: fan itself is somewhat soft copper & copper plated means finger prints down the road...
I usually buy two motherboards when buying an extreme edition cpu... the backup burn out board still isn't needed and collecting dust!

2 out of 5 eggsPoor cooling performance

Pros: This is a relatively quiet fan.

Cons: Poor thermal performance, this fan will not be able to effectively cool a high performance VGA card, and is definitely not suitable for overclocking. Using my thermal resistance test rig, I found that this was the worst performer of all the 5 VGA coolers I tested, with a value of 1K/watt. So, the temperature increase over the case temperature will be almost exactly 1 degree C per watt.

Other Thoughts: The poor thermal performance of this cooler is probably attributable to the lack of significant surface area on the cooling fins. It looks as though the manufacturing process to make this cooler is simple, but this is not reflected in the cost. There are better budget VGA coolers out there.

2 out of 5 eggsIts okay

Pros: Its good if you dont mind the noise.. Im using it on my NB.. it keeps it cool.

Cons: The fan is loud at max rpm. So if you have it connected to your motherboard or a 4 pin molex it can be very annoying. I can hear this thing over my all my other 3x 120mm and 4x 140mm case fans at max speed.

Had to connect it to my fan controller just so it can run at 50-75%.. Now I cant really hear it.

The heat sinks suck especially if you are going to use them to be on your NB or SB. They get extremely hot. My computer wouldnt make it to the desktop on startup because thats how hot they got and how fast they got that hot.

Manufacturer Response:

I'm sorry to hear that your fan has had some performance issues. We do provide a one year warranty from the date of purchase on your product. So please contact support@vantecusa.com for further assistance.
Best Regards, Vantec

2 out of 5 eggsDon't buy if you actually care about your GPU

Pros: Fan spins
Comes with decent accessories

Cons: Does not fit any recent GPU from like 2005-present without mods! If you have a 6-series to present Nvidia or 3000-series to present ATI card and this thing actually fits - consider yourself VERY lucky.

For my friend's 7300GT the mounting holes were a tad too short so I had to angle the pushpins out to go thru the holes in the card. Also does a terrible job of cooling. Kept the card cool enough to surf internet and play simple games like mahjongg, but anything beyond that would toast the card.

Other Thoughts: reviewer nerp you are brilliant! from his comment:

"Saw some posts from people who had issues with the 3-pin connector. The video cards have a small two pin connector and the fan comes with the standard 3-pin fan connector. On the three video cards that I replaced fans on, all I had to do to make the 3-pin connector on the fan work was to pull the plastic 2-pin receptacle off of the pins on the VGA card leaving the bare pins. The receptacle is friction fit onto the pins and can be gently worked off with pair of pliers. Then all you have to do is slide the 3-pin connector onto the two pins taking care to get the polarity correct."

took his advice and it worked perfect. just wiggle it a bit with pliers while you pull firmly and it'll come off.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. If you have trouble installing the fan onto your VGA, we encourage you to contact support@vantecusa.com for further assistance.
Best Regards, Vantec
