3 out of 5 eggsA75G 1u CPU Cooler

Pros: Decent active cpu cooler for 1u server where the case is designed to aid in airflow and cooling.
Works well with single core Opteron cpu's 1/2/850 series.
Also cools dual core Opterons, but not as effectively.

Cons: Less effective as load is applied for dual core Opteron 275.
Cools Opteron 275 dual core dual cpu to about 58* C under full and constant load for 10 minute stress test.
Lighter loads with Powernow enabled between 34-40* C.
Idle is at 30* C with Opteron 275.

Other Thoughts: As indicated, a single core cpu cools well. Originally had these cooling dual cpu Opteron 250's. That's 2.4 Ghz for a single core, even at full power. Upgraded to the Opteron 275's, and with Powernow enabled and power scheme set to server processor balanced performance, the cpu's idle @ 1 Ghz per core. At idle each cooler is cooling a pair of 1 Ghz cores for 2 Ghz of heat dissipation. At this load, you won't tell much of a difference, but under full (100%) load, they get 58* C warm as the coolers are less effective cooling 4.4 Ghz of dual core cpu. Passive coolers actually work better under that load.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect

Pros: This works perfect for what it is. It is meant to be in 1u or 2u servers. Not a workstation. If you're looking for a fan for your workstation don't buy this because it IS loud and it supposed to be because it runs at about 6000rpm and moves a ton of air.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Look at what you're buying before you give something a negative review.

3 out of 5 eggsNot for desktops, for servers!

Pros: Inexpensive, 1u design.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Many complain that this is very loud, but it is not designed for desktop computers. It is designed for servers, and for that, it is acceptable!

3 out of 5 eggsnoisy fan

Pros: Cools the cpu somewhat.I have an Amd Athalon 64 cpu the temp is around 60-68 under load.

Cons: Very noisy fan bad design for the blower. Would have preferred an open fan.

Other Thoughts: None

5 out of 5 eggsGood & Solid

Pros: Solid and heavy heat sink with a good feel to it. Does the job and is of good quality.

Cons: Thermal paste may not be up to par and it is a little loud but 1u servers normally are.

Other Thoughts: Great product and great price.

5 out of 5 eggsI finally found a good option for my poorly designed case

Pros: Quality feel, solid copper heatsink

Cons: Cheap thermal paste, loud blower

Other Thoughts: This is the perfect cooling solution for the ATX case I have where the CPU is directly under the power supply. It is a poor design, but I like the case. I did have to connect the blower to the 5v power (on a Zalman 5v/12v power adapter) to keep the noise down, but it still stays nice and cool (in the low 40's idle/50's under load). I used Arctic Silver 5 instead of the cheap paste that was included and I think that helped a bit. Great little CPU cooler!

2 out of 5 eggsWon't work in Supermicro 1020

Pros: Looks like it would be great if there were a fan power connector on the mobo.

Cons: No fan power connector on SM 1U Mobos. You have to get the heatsinks that are specific for Supermicro, supermicro part number: SNK-P0012

Other Thoughts: Using anything other than the indicated heatsink in the Supermicro thermal matrix in a Supermicro server voids your warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good all things concidered

Pros: 1u active cooler for socket 754 processors, at Newegg? Awesome!

Cons: Had to take about a 6mm square chunk out of the corner of the heat sink to clear one of the capacitors on my Biostar microATX mobo - but then again, real server motherboards don't put capacitors in the way of a large heat sink...
