3 out of 5 eggsAwesome but.....

Pros: This is an outstanding cooler and keeps 2 x 5400 series Xeon processors at 77 F under loads!

Cons: These fans are horribly loud! I mean like standing behind a 747 on takeoff loud. My MB settings does not slow them enough to quiet them down.

Other Thoughts: I may find a way to employ a fan adjustment interface. They work great. Ear splitting loud.

1 out of 5 eggsKaboom

Pros: Only game in town for 771 format.

Cons: Extremely noisy, not much different from stock coolers as far as temperature reduction.

Other Thoughts: I have a SupermicroX 7DAE-O twin processor board that I bought from Newegg some years back. Incredibly, the board is still viable. I have two Intel 5060 Xenon's hooked up to the board, and although I bought this set of back in 06, the system still works fine, and it has been easily updatable with the new stuff coming out.

However, finally, the factory fan on one of the CPUs finally gave up. I purchased the Dyantron CPU cooler because it is the only set up left and works on that processor. Although I purchased the coolers in January, I just had the opportunity to bolt them in this past weekend.

Installation was straightforward. However, once I fired up my machine, I noticed a harmonic dissidents coming from the new coolers, as well as my machine now sounding like a B-17 taking off. I ran the machine for four hours to check CPU temperature and stability. Beginning in the fifth hour, the buzzing sound coming from the new coolers became very loud, and then one of the fans gave up the ghost. One of the impellers came flying off, hit the other cooling fan, destroying both fans. Fortunately, I had a extra pair of fans other than Dynatron I purchased from Newegg. Using tie wraps, I installed the new fans. The noise drop significantly without any difference in temperature between the fans.

This problem is not Newegg's fault. I would argue it was a manufacturer defect. However, you folks need to know this information just in case you want to replace a stock fan on a 771. You might be better served replacing the fan only.

Now I got a figure out how to water cool my processes the next time my fan goes belly up.

4 out of 5 eggsLoud but it keeps cool

Pros: Keeps two servers each running dual X5460's around 55-60 at full load.

Cons: As others have said, it can be loud. Minus one star for noise.

Other Thoughts: I've been running them non-stop for around a year. The stock Intel copper heatsink and fan combo kept the temps into the 70s at full load, so these are an improvement.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Fan

Pros: Works great for my L5420.
Will Call made it for a quicker deployment.

Cons: Deployment went with 1 CPU short as 1/2 coolers ordered came without mounting hardware. RMA'd with newegg.

Other Thoughts: Just what I needed for my older hardware based server. Just wish both came with mounting brackets so I wouldnt have to suffer downtime to install 2nd CPU when replacement cooler comes in.

3 out of 5 eggsNOISE!!!!

Pros: they do what they say they will do

Cons: VERY LOUD even when not in use.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 xeon's in my asus Z7s server/workstation. For the past year i've had one of these fans aside a tower fin cooler system for the second. This one kept the one processor cooler and more stable but the noise was much louder. I'm offering a video service now and installed a second dynatron. It does work well keeping the temps down but now you can hear the two fans through the whole house even when i'm not using the computer. They are LOUD. unfortunately these are the only ones I can find to "fit" side by side in my motherboard with all the other stuff i have installed. I'm going to build a noise box with noise reduction foam around the case to try to fix the noise issue. It is very annoying but the fans do what they say they will do.

4 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: great cooler for the price

Cons: as with many reviews here, these fans are loud. If you are going to use this product for a workstation in any public area, beware of the noise.

Other Thoughts: I got bored and built a dual xeon build. I ordered two of these since they seemed to be the only heat sink i could find that would work in a side by side configuration. in the end, i just removed the stock fans on both and zip tied a SilenX IXP-74-14 120mm Case Fan 73092110 diagonally across them both and it droped the temp by 4C and is barely audible

5 out of 5 eggsKeeps it cool

Pros: Seems to keep my additional E5310 Xeon processor cool in my SC1430 server. No issues yet, and temps. are where they should be.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Loud Cooler

Pros: Inexpensive Xeon proc cooler. Cools the cpu without issue. Easy to install.

Cons: Loud for a workstation or desktop fan. Luckily for me this machine is in the basement but it's so loud I can hear as soon as I open the basement door.

Other Thoughts: Newegg has been serving me for 10 years. Keep up the good work

5 out of 5 eggsGreat LGA771 cooler

Pros: I am happy I purchased these fans. Noise level is not an issue unless your fans are over 80% duty.

Install was easy as pie with included mounting brackets

Cons: Not a con for me, but if your motherboard does not have 4 pin power connectors I would not buy these. If you plug them into a 3 pin fan power connector they will run at 100% all the time and you'll be very unhappy with the noise. The 4 pin connectors can control fan speed based on temperature of the CPU.

Other Thoughts: As with anything, hit the manufacturers site and RTM (read the fricking manual) before you purchase products online.

3 out of 5 eggsno significant difference from stockl

Pros: Good solid cooler. does it's job.

Cons: not any quiter than stock Intel fans at low power setting

Other Thoughts: Perhaps these are quieter when on high, I have not tested them in this mode.
They are just as noisy as the stock Intel on low setting, so they did not reduce the noise in my office as desired.
