Seems to be working
- Pros: So far so good. Extremely easy to install, had a 1u screw in heat sink, from the same manufacture, that just required me to unscrew it and drop this one right on in without removing the mobo to insert the screw down post. Running in the 50's to 60's for an AMD Opteron 1220, but see below might be other problems causing higher temps.
- Cons: None that I have found yet
- Other Thoughts: I believe my case might not have enough fans to displace the heat. I have to leave the side cover off to help cool, drops about 5 to 10 degrees, I do have a really old case trying to cool an AMD Opteron 1220 with only one exhaust fan, plus a couple WD Raptor drives. I'm sure if I get a strong exhaust fan or a different case with more fans it might fix this problem. The noise it makes doesn't bother me since I work in a data center and its quieter than most servers running there.
good for 10 minutes
- Pros: very easy to install
- Cons: when installed, about 5 to 10 minutes later, the fan went out don't know why but it did. bad thing is it is a screwy 77mm fan whcih is not replacable or easy to find so i will get my money back.
Cooler And "Quiet"
- Pros: Keeps CPU very cool, Easy installation
- Cons: None that i can find. It is loud at first but if you hook it directly to your motherboard you can download a program called SpeedFan, it allows you to adjust the speed of your CPU fan and any others that may be connected directly to your motherboard.
- Other Thoughts: If you have a noisey fan... think of other ways to take care of it. In the computer world... there is always a backdoor
