1 out of 5 eggsAmazingly noisy

Pros: Easy to install. Kept CPU cool.

Cons: Really remarkably noisy even under light load (YouTube video)

Other Thoughts: Look elsewhere. I replaced with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. Very quiet if your case is big enough to handle the height.

5 out of 5 eggsNice and efficient in full tower.

Pros: The K555 CPU heat sink with fan mounts securely to the motherboard. Appears to be well made. With the 4 wire connection to the Motherboard, its PWM control nicely throttles the fan speed to keep the CPU at the optimum temperature.

Cons: Can get noisy at 100%, (45.8 dBA) but that's the price you pay for cooling.

Other Thoughts: I will be buying another K555 for my next system.

2 out of 5 eggsMini-ITX application

Pros: Fits the new LGA 1156 mini-ITX platform from DFI (MI P55-T36)
Well-built, solid mounting system (NO PUSHPINS)
Reasonable temps with the fan speed at tolerable levels and solid performer at full speed (Fine for server applications, NOT for mini-ITX personal computers)

Cons: Of course this is a server heatsink, but it's one of the few low-profile lga1156 HSFs that are compatible with the SUGO5 case for use in a mini-ITX lga1156 build.
Fan spins at full speed upon startup, regardless of setting (It's a given, but full-speed is LOUD - 4500RPM is blazing)
Fan grill shipped dislodged, prevented fan from spinning... realized this after taking it apart once or twice...
Irregular fan size
Performance at acceptable noise levels negligible over stock

Other Thoughts: This is a server heatsink/fan, but you can use it for a mini-ITX build with minimal if any compatibility issues.

If noise is not an issue (aka servers) it would be a marginal improvement over the stock heatsink.

3 out of 5 eggsMight be a decent cooler but not for 2U chassis

Pros: It fits in the 2U chassis all right

Cons: Xeon 3450 under 8 threads of Prime95 heats up to 68 celsius. This is only 5 degrees better than stock Intel cooler and way too high for my comfort.

Other Thoughts: This cooler might do better in a larger chassis, but in 2U it ends up trying to suck air from the ceiling. 50% of the exhaust goes in the opposite direction of airflow from the chassis coolers. Or at least across that airflow if you rotate it 90 degrees.

When I open the chassis so that it doesn't try to suck the air out of the metal cover, the temperature goes down to acceptable 64.

I've purchased both this guy and K650 because I wasn't sure if any would fit in a 2U server. K650 did a much better job despite the fact that it lacks heatpipes - 59 degrees after hours of prime95. Opening the case cover didn't change the temperature a bit.

Bottom line: kept the K650, returned the K555
