4 out of 5 eggsLoud but effective

Pros: It cools my 16 core Opteron 6272.

Cons: 1. Loud, it sounds like someone is using a hair dryer in the bathroom (while the door is closed).

2. It doesn't perfectly sit on top of the processor. I had to alternate screwing the two sides just so it can fit. You can't screw one side all the way in, then screw in the other. You have to take 4 or 5 turns on one side, then 4 or 5 on the other.

3. When you first start up your PC you'll hear the full force of this monster.

4. If you want to know how loud it really is, have someone turn on the vacuum at one end of your home. Then go to the other end of your home. That's the noise level.

Other Thoughts: 1. I will replace the 70mm fans with some other fan that pushes just as much air as this one, with a lot less noise. Or I might use an adapter and put a 120mm on top (I haven't decided yet.

3 out of 5 eggsSuper Loud

Pros: Affoardable

Cons: In order to keep things cool they are always running full tilt. Which is WAY to loud!

5 out of 5 eggsVery well designed.

Pros: This is a great product for the AMD processors. runs very quite and keeps the CPU's very cool for an AMD.
Thank you Dynatron for a well built cooler.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this cooling assemble to anyone building servers with AMD processors.

1 out of 5 eggsGet the A5 instead

Pros: It has a fan and fins. The fan spins. Installation is easy.

Cons: The base does not seem to sit properly on my processors, forcing the fans to spin at full speed for much of the time. These suckers are loud, and I'm concerned that my procs are overheating. My server is not running stably.

Other Thoughts: I've build two matching servers save the other server is using the older A5 models after reading some negative reviews on the A6's. The A5 server is much quieter and more stable. Skip these and go with the A5's as I've since had to replace my A6's with A5's. Save yourself the hassle.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No probelms integrating this cooler on a Supermicro H8SGL motherboard with a Opteron 6220 interlagos G34 CPU. Runs nice and cool but it is in a Supermicro server case with 6 fans.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Sounds like a cylone running along with the 6 case fans but it is mounted in a rack in a server closet so that is fine with me.

3 out of 5 eggsThey work, but are LOUD

Pros: These heatsinks are a decent price and they do the job. System temps are respectable under a full load. Installation is a breeze.

Cons: LOUD!! Even in an idle load these things are audible, but under a full load it sounds like I'm near the airport.

5 out of 5 eggsFlush fit

Pros: Flush fit on a Supermicro H8SGL-F
Quietish @ 3700rpm
100% coverage.
High CFM.

Cons: Loud at full tilt - but what do you expect, its for a server.
Pushes air to both sides, strange.

1 out of 5 eggsSerious design flaws

Pros: Mounts easily I guess?

Cons: This CPU cooler has a serious design flaw. When mounted, as the reviewer Raland had said, the cooler does NOT make even contact with the service of the CPU. I've tried 3 different A6s now, and they all had the EXACT same issue. So it's not just me getting lemons, unless I received 3 lemons in a row.

With this cooler on 6274s, I was getting an IDLE temp of 41C, which is horrible for almost no load at all.

Returning them to NewEgg. Would never recommend using this in a production server.

4 out of 5 eggsHmm! OK, but may need more oommpphh!

Pros: Well, on a 6128 it's fine, but in a 4 x 6272 64-core set up, it will run on 64 cores with regular use and a light load, but everything runs hot and reboots even after a change to Noctua NH-1 thermal paste. The problem with a Xigmatek Elysium case with a custom plate, which was cheaper than the Supermicro box, is that there is too much heat in one place with the 64 cores going full blast doing chemistry calculations for a week running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Desktop. Super-pi shuts the system down in 10-15 mins instead of 3hrs. I have already upgraded the case fans once, but have not yet moved the power supply from the bottom to the top of the case. Now I am heading for a second case fan update, Aerocool slots and I have purchased some 70mm to 80mm fan adapters to change the 77mm fan to an 80mm x 38mm Nidec 108 cfm pwm fan on each heat sink and will now use IC diamond thermal paste. The next step is a Triplett A/C unit.

Cons: Needs more cfm or a lot more fin area and a serious server case with good case fans for my build. Noctua 120mm units may be a more efficient and quieter cooling option, despite the price difference.

Other Thoughts: Well made units, but the performance could be better. With a dual or quad cpu board more heat dissipation is essential. Remember, most server rooms have A/C.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Working well with my AMD Opteron 6128 and Supermicro H8SGL-O.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When it gets going it's noisy, but otherwise it's whisper quiet.
