2 out of 5 eggsPoor fan

Pros: Good design.

Cons: Poor fans. I purchased 4 of these units. All of the *cpu fans* are very noisy. To be honest, I have built around 10+ computers on my own and used different fans, and they are the most noisy fans I have every seen. The unfortunate things are that, I have to put up with it, as there isn't many choices for narrow ILM 2011 cpu coolers available in the market.

2 out of 5 eggsOk fan.... but horrable RMA Support

Pros: Fits SUPERMICRO MBD-X10DRI dual Xeon E5 V3 setup with no problems.

Cons: Barely decent fan performance. Very cheep assembly and uses fragile plastic mount tabs for the fan mount. I can only give this fan 2 eggs due to the very cheep fan retaining system.

Other Thoughts: I Purchased 2 of these cooler assemblies for a new server build along with new motherboard and RAM direct from newegg.com.

The overall package everything was shipping in was in great condition when it arrived but upon opening I found one of the cooler boxes had visible corner damage. Upon opening of the box I found that all of the plastic tabs that hold the fan in place had been broken and the entire heat sink assembly was also slightly bent. It looks like it was damaged prior to shipment but its hard to tell due to the severe lack of packaging material that was used by newegg to protect all the items that were shipped in the box together.

After contacting newegg about the damage I was issued an RMA and the cooler was sent back for replacement on June 18. I just received an email today (June 29) that the RMA was rejected due to a missing UPC label and that the item was offered with a mail in rebate, item cannot be processed as received.

1- I returned the cooler assembly in the original packaging with everything as I received it so I don't know where the issue of a missing UPC is coming from.

2- There was not a mail in rebate offered on this cooler when I purchased it... I have checked my original order multiple times and there is no mention of it... and I also never submitted for a rebate.

3- I requested RMA to have a item damaged in shipping replaced... not returned for refund.

4- I am deeply offended by the process I have experience thus far with newegg.com. I just dropped $1200+ in a single order for a dual Xeon motherboard... 8 sticks of RAM.. and 2 coolers... yet I can't get them to replace a $35 cooler that was damaged somewhere at their warehouse or in shipping. I really hope this RMA is given a second look and approved... If I am stuck with a broken cooler due to a broken newegg.com RMA process I will take my business somewhere else from now on.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler

Pros: Great cooler - one of the few decent narrow ILM coolers out there. 4-pin PWM is great - quieter than some of the other Dynatron coolers out there

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you can't do research to realize that this isn't the standard LGA2011 cooler...you probably shouldn't be buying it.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality heatsink; Poor fan

Pros: There aren't too many narrow ILM LGA2011 coolers around that fit in a 3U case. The heatsink appears to be a quality unit, but the stock fan leaves much to be desired. My specs:

Norco 3216
Supermicro X9DRI-F
Intel E5-2620
ESXi 5.0U3

The CPU idles along at 47C. I had a similar, if not identical, temp with their R17 solution before I discarded the stock fan and ducted the heatsink. I plan on directing the flow of one of fans on the fan panel through the R27 and then out to the rear. Actually, I'm waiting for the second R27 to arrive because I can install two E5-2620V2 CPUs and properly duct everything.

Cons: Stock fan leaves a lot to be desired
