5 out of 5 eggsWorked great in its time

Pros: Way back (10/17/2006) when I purchased this for my NVidia Geforce 9800 (I think it was however I used it on several GPU's) it was the best thing I could do. This thing kept my GPU temps no higher then around 20c normal use and at full load playing GRAW and COD my GPU never went over 35c.

Cons: I no longer have it and it won't fit my up to date XFX DD R9 270X Card. Not a con cause it wasn't meant for newer GPU's.

Other Thoughts: Loved this GPU cooler and Zalman thermal paste in my opinion was the best out there. Use it on all my cpu coolers and gpu coolers (till i ran out of it) and it dissipated heat to the heat sink great over other paste I used as well as over artic silver 5. I liked this thing so much I ended up buying this things big brother for my Cpu Zalman cnps9700 and it worked great. i'll be doing a review for that next after i'm done with this review with the same praise as this one. Buying the cnps9700 meant another tube of paste lol.

4 out of 5 eggsQuality Heatsink

Pros: Solid heatsink. Relatively low profile and easy to clean.

Cons: Doesn't seem to allow plugging into the card. You must use it with the supplied fan speed controller.

5 out of 5 eggsAewsome

Pros: Works great cools real well great looking to.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: Well I know this type works great on Video cards etc.
It also works well a the old physx card I put this one on a legacy pci bfg physx card.
Dont ask I did it for fun and to see if I could make it work looked on forums found some people had done something close to what I was trying on the same type of boards.

In this instance the BFG physx pci legacy version. Success I even made it fit better and right on over the chip which the other person only was able to do it diagnal which worked but not as well besides looking odd.

Main reason all that came about is The fan fell off the heaksink wouldnt go back on go figure the fanheat sink was made out of the cheapest possible pretty much only good for show. Least I know for sure the physx card wont ever overheat lol.

for a little while I had a bfg7800gs agp was using both for a while till I switched graphics cards.

5 out of 5 eggsVery effective

Pros: Cools down my 7900GT better than the stock fan. At low fan speeds, it is silent.

Cons: At 100%, it is very loud. Vibrates my Antec P180 like crazy. Definitely the loudest fan in the system when running at full blast.

Other Thoughts: If you don't mind a loud fan at full speed, get this fan. If you want a silent fan at low speeds, get this fan.

5 out of 5 eggsLove these coolers..

Pros: Tend to cool much more efficiently than stock GPU fans.

I run mine either on a mini fan controller, a drive bay fan controller, or %100, depending on the build.

Cons: Price?

Other Thoughts: I've owned 6 over the years... Have a few GPU's that could use a cooler, think it's time for another.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit ATI9800pro, is not solid copper

Pros: Larger than stock heatsink, solid construction, quiet, cools the GPU, looks like solid copper.

Cons: Physically does not fit ATI 9800 PRO, has wrong fan connector, is not made of solid copper.

Other Thoughts: ATI 9800 PRO has a two-pin fan connector, this heatsink has a three-pin connector, so had to use a splitter from the auxiliary power connector to feed 12v to the fan. The fins contact two electrolytic caps preventing the heatsink from sitting flat against the GPU die. I had to remove material from the underside of the fins before it would sit properly. In the process I discovered the fins are not solid copper but appear to be copper-plated aluminum, and so a purely aesthetic finish: black-anodizing the aluminum fins would have avoided the detrimental additional thermal interface and significantly increased radiative cooling (anodized aluminum has 10 times higher emissivity than shiny copper).

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Performance

Pros: Very quiet, very effective, only one expansion slot in size

Cons: A little heavy, but I guess with that much copper that would be expected. I built a plexiglass support for it since I have a mATX motherboard and case, it was only about 3 inches off the bottom of the case.

I hate the "Fan Mate" controllers, but it's optional anyway. May re-wire them to use the fan plugs on the graphics card later, but for now, they work.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these to replace the stock cooler(s) for my 4850x2 card. It dropped the temperatures for idle from 48/44 to 40/37 for the two cores, and the load temperatures from 78/75 to 68/64 for the two. So I'm pretty happy with that.

Make sure you mount them with the correct orientation though. I wasn't paying attention and mounted one of them rotated 90 degrees and the cooler hit the PCI socket and prevented the graphics card from seating properly.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cooler for the HD 5770

Pros: The cooler fits greatly to a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 that comes with a custom cooler and it really works fine. It is very silent and dropped my idle temperatures by 6C (44C with default cooler) and my full load temperatures by over 12C while remaining silent (77C with stock cooler), and all that was during gaming, using Furmark kept the card under 85C in the worst case scenario, most of the time remained on the 77C threshold while the stock cooler would reach up to 96C, scary!! Not bad for a SKU that's was launched over 5 years ago.

Cons: The fan fins are very delicate, they may break easily if you don't hold the cooler gently enough. The ram heatsinks requires some patience and wait for over 24 hours to make sure that they will stick fine, otherwise they will fall from the cards. The radial copper tubes around the fins are linked together by a very thin film of wielded flimsy metal that can bend easy during installation and loose its shape a bit, it is easy to to bend it back but using a circular copper pipe around is a better solution that joining two of them cheaply. The thermal paste could be better, use another one instead like Shin Etsu or Diamond based TIM.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this product was launched as a great alternative for those who craved for better coolers for cards like the Geforce 7900GTX, Radeon X1900 series and even at this date, works like a champ on this Radeon HD 5770, a testament of this great cooler design. It will lower your idle and full temperatures by a good margin and is totally silent, just make sure that the card's thermal dissipation is under 125W like the Radeon HD 5770, Geforce 9800GTX etc as I really doubt that it will be enough for cards that costs for over $140 like the HD 6850 or GTX 460.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Decently easy installation if you have ever replaced a fan before. It does what its supposed to do.

Cons: it really was only a 5 degree (celsius) difference from stock cooler on a 9800GT, but it was a difference.

Other Thoughts: fan controller is a nice option, but where do you put it?
I ended up taping mine to the top of the tower

5 out of 5 eggsVF900 on 9800GT

Pros: Performance

Cons: None thus far

Other Thoughts: Installed easily on the Palit 9800GT Green Edition. Noticed a significant reduction in idling and load temperatures from the stock fan.
