Long popular for the design and engineering of their products, Zalman continues to deliver on their tradition by producing quality products backed with excellent service. The CNPS9900LED goes a step further by looking good as it cools your AMD or Intel processor.
The efficient dual copper heatsink design combines a patented 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the 120mm blue LED fan’s blades and 2 ball bearings. Noise level can be lessened automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly.
The CNPS9900LED is compatible with all single- and multi-core CPUs for Intel's Socket 775/1366 and AMD’s Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2/754/939/940. All the clips and backplates are included so there's nothing else to buy to get the unit attached to your motherboard in minutes.
Pros: Definitely keeps things cool. Just by looking at it and handling it one can tell it’s very well put together. The performance is amazing, it is near silent, it looks great and it’s easy to install.
As stated by Zalman on the products webpage, the shroud is only there for the protection of the fins on the cooler when in transit. By taking off the shroud it dropped the temperature 2-4 degrees and it does just that. It really drops it 5 degrees when the cpu is at idle and drops it 2-3 degrees under load. For me, I am getting the following results. At idle around 26c on / stock was 38c, under load around 41c on / stock was 59c. These temperatures are for a i7 940 not OC.
Cons: None, If you don't do the usual checking of the space inside the case to make sure you have clearance, then sorry for you. Buy another computer case that fits. It will be worth it in the end.
Other Thoughts: I'm very happy with this cooler. The stock coolers are a joke, and I've had multiple problems in the past with aftermarket coolers not fitting correctly. This was a success in every way possible; I would absolutely buy another one for my next air cooled system.

Pros: Excellent Performance easy install includes a socket 1366 bracket
Cons: Have to remove motherboard for some applications
Other Thoughts: To the reviewer that said this cooler doesnt cool well ,he must have it installed wrong,I also have a 9700 cooler that cools very well and this 9900 will beat that one .read the review in Maximum PC this is the top rated cooler for an air cooler

Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: -Quiet, just make sure the bios settings are right -Comes with its own thermal paste -It's large but doesn't block any ram slots. -Easier to install on AMD boards than the stock heat sink was, just clip in in.
Cons: -There are other coolers that are better than this one for a lot cheaper, just do the research first. I only bought this one because it was on sale and because I didn't have to remove the motherboard from the case to install it.
Other Thoughts: Processor: AMD Phenom II 955 BE
Stock: idle - 34 load - 54
Zalman 9900: idle - 34 load - 51
I bought this because the stock fan sounded like a loud hair dryer. I don't do any overclocking. This is one is a lot quieter. The stock heat sink is good enough if you can stand the noise.

Pros: man i got to tell you this cooler is massive i mean if i didnt have a full server antec case it wouldnt fit but i do so. I mean it looks friging awesome its about a pound of copper maybe more i dunno i just know that it keeps my cpu cold
Cons: only con i can think of is that it doesnt have ports for liquid cooled option that would be super cool then you could over clock and not ever have to worry about the heat
Other Thoughts: if you got the case and the space y not get you one of these bad boys

amazing heatsink

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Took my CPU down below room temperature. I was able to OC from 2.8GHZ to 3.5GHZ without any problem (idle at 31C full load at 39C).
Once i get a memory upgrade, i believe it can be OC'd more.
Cons: Not really a big con, but the fan seems to be louder than most other zalman fans.
Other Thoughts: Phenom 2 x720 BE @3.5GHZ with this heatsink
