Long popular for the design and engineering of their products, Zalman continues to deliver on their tradition by producing quality products backed with excellent service. The CNPS9900LED goes a step further by looking good as it cools your AMD or Intel processor.

The efficient dual copper heatsink design combines a 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the 120mm blue LED fan’s blades and 2 ball bearings. Noise level can be lessened automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly.

The CNPS9900LED is compatible with all single- and multi-core CPUs for Intel's Socket 775/1156/1366 and AMD’s Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2/754/939/940. All the clips and backplates are included so there's nothing else to buy to get the unit attached to your motherboard in minutes.

  • newegg Pure Copper Heatsink Base and Fins A pure copper base and circular heatsink formed by radially aligned ultra-thin (0.2mm) copper fins maximize heat dissipation surface area for excellent cooling performance.
  • newegg High-efficient Heatpipe Design The innovative heatpipe design delivers a heat transfer capacity equivalent to 6 heatpipes with just 3.
  • newegg 120mm Cooling Fan with PWM Function The 120mm cooling fan with PWM function automatically adjusts speeds according to the CPU temperature for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the ZALMAN CNPS9900A LED features broad compatibility with all AMD socket AM2, 754, 939, 940 and Intel 775, 1156 and 1366 platforms.

5 out of 5 eggsGood cooler, bad install method

Pros: Great cooler, period! I bought a Zalman two bearing cooler in 2006 and it worked flawlessly the whole time I owned it. The only reason I bought this cooler was because I rebuilt my old desktop two months ago and wanted a new CPU cooler to go with the new build. The first Zalman worked great and I'm sure this one will also.

Cons: Installation method on this cooler was direct but a real pain. Luckily for me I still had the steel clip that was used to install the old Zalman cooler so I used that instead of the brackets and hex head screws sent with this cooler. The hex head screws were not deep enough to keep from stripping.

Other Thoughts: If you have another installation method other than the bracket and hex head screws ... buy this cooler.

1 out of 5 eggsinstalation sucks!

Pros: nice fan but...

Cons: The installation hardware is made of butter!! they use Allen screws to mount it to the bracket, due to the size of the fan it isn't easy to get to the screws and the metal is SO soft the hex head strips out quickly. this is made worse by the fact I had a DOA board so I had to do this twice. I don't think the the custom screws will take a third install.

Other Thoughts: use a better grade metal, this nice fan isn't worth anything if you can mount it properly.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit spects

Pros: I have been using these Zalman coolers since this company has been in business. Every one was fantastic.

Cons: In the Specifications it states that it will fit an LGA 1150. That is a lie. Its not Newegg's fault. It is Zalmans. I have one on another computer that is for the 1150, the fitting are
nothing as they should be. Even the instructions don't say it will fit the 1150, which the Specifications say it does.

Other Thoughts: This is my last Zalman Cooler.

4 out of 5 eggsZALMAN 120mm - Blue

Pros: I am running this on an AMD FX-8350. When the processor is maxed out for an extended period of time the max temp I’ve seen is 40c or 104f which is pretty good since the processor is overclocked to 4.35Ghz when maxed vs. the standard 4Ghz. When it is under normal load it runs between 28c – 32c or 82f – 89f. Also it did surprisingly fit in my mid ATX case.

Cons: Blue LED doesn’t work. First time using a Zalman. Installation was a pain but the payoff was worth it. I wound up having to bend down the mount tabs to get to the point were the screws could reach.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection

Pros: This is the 4th Zalman cooler I've bought. The oldest one has been running for around 10 years. All of them have run quietly and kept my OC's nice and cool. Love the included thermal paste. It might even be better than the Arctic Silver 5 I usually use. We'll see.

Cons: The installation can be a little tricky. Make sure you understand how the brackets fit and then do a test-fit before putting on the thermal paste. The holes lined up perfectly with the 1150 socket. Some manuals describe the airflow one way while illustrating it the other. Make sure you have it pointed the right way (out of the case). Check the orientation of the blades if you aren't sure.

Other Thoughts: I've got another build later this year and it'll have a Zalman in it!

2 out of 5 eggsRattle

Pros: Looks really nice and temps are ok

Cons: Rattles after a year, the sound is really irritating, Installation will make you wanna break something--its sooo frustrating.

Other Thoughts: I'll never go air cooled again. Water blocks mount soo superbly and keep the processor soo cool.

5 out of 5 eggsThings to Remember

Pros: see other thoughts

Cons: see other thoughts

Other Thoughts: You must remember that every fan or cpu cooler will have a drawback other wise there would never be a competing brand and you wouldnt be searching.
However i would like to mention that this fan is great because of its shear size and copper material. Copper is probably the most thermally conductive fan material out there. A circle of fins is more efficient then a block.
Thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problem

Pros: Looks neat. Big. Works as advertised. Fits 1150 sockets, even though they are not listed on the package; uses the same holes as the 1155/1156. No memory or case clearance issues on an ASRock Fatal!ty Killer Z97 in an Antec 300 case. Installed over a 4790K processor, not that that matters.

Others have reported that the brackets and screws didn't fit properly, but I had no problems with it.

Cons: As other have pointed out, it can be a little tough to install. Specifically, it's a bit tricky to get the screws lined up and started.

Other Thoughts: This was my first install of an aftermarket cooler. I elected not to use the optional adhesive pad to hold the backing plate to the motherboard. Instead, I hung the case half off my desk so that I could hold the backing plate in place with my hand while aligning the screws with my other hand.

5 out of 5 eggsWow! Works Great!

Pros: Great CPU temperature drop. Even though I installed it backwards (facepalm).

Cons: Installation was a bit of a pain. I ended up installing it backwards (derp).
