Long popular for the design and engineering of their products, Zalman continues to deliver on their tradition by producing quality products backed with excellent service. The CNPS9900LED goes a step further by looking good as it cools your AMD or Intel processor.

The efficient dual copper heatsink design combines a 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the 120mm blue LED fan’s blades and 2 ball bearings. Noise level can be lessened automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly.

The CNPS9900LED is compatible with all single- and multi-core CPUs for Intel's Socket 775/1156/1366 and AMD’s Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2/754/939/940. All the clips and backplates are included so there's nothing else to buy to get the unit attached to your motherboard in minutes.

  • newegg Pure Copper Heatsink Base and Fins A pure copper base and circular heatsink formed by radially aligned ultra-thin (0.2mm) copper fins maximize heat dissipation surface area for excellent cooling performance.
  • newegg High-efficient Heatpipe Design The innovative heatpipe design delivers a heat transfer capacity equivalent to 6 heatpipes with just 3.
  • newegg 120mm Cooling Fan with PWM Function The 120mm cooling fan with PWM function automatically adjusts speeds according to the CPU temperature for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the ZALMAN CNPS9900A LED features broad compatibility with all AMD socket AM2, 754, 939, 940 and Intel 775, 1156 and 1366 platforms.

5 out of 5 eggsWill always have a soft spot for Zalman

Pros: Everything... except it's a blue LED (my case is black/green theme.. so it'll have to go soon here but, good for now)

As with every other zalman cooler i've purchased it installed perfectly, no issues (well.. some but they were the MBs fault, not the coolers) and it keeps my shiney new i5-6600k under 60C (after a 24 hour stress it still hadn't broke 60). No overclock yet but i'm sure it'll keep it under 70 when I start to push the voltage a wee bit..

Oh and as always, it's quiet..

Cons: Nothing.. again except it's a blue LED but.. I knew this going in and just didn't have the money to spend on the AIO water setup I want yet..

Other Thoughts: System Specs
Intel i5-6600k
ASUS ROG Maximus VIII z170 MB
Corsair RM750i 750w PSU
MSI GTX 970 100ME
Zalman CNPS9900 cooler
Samsung EVO 850 250gb SSD

4 out of 5 eggsA Good Cooler

Pros: This cooler looks sharp and does the job well.

Cons: It's sharp in other ways too. Once the plastic fin cover comes off, it can cut you up. So, you have to be careful. Leave it on during installation. With the new mounting system, it is a little easier to install. I did have to put the cooler brackets in a vice to bend them a little to make them easier to screw down. This cooler has to be installed before putting the motherboard in the case.

Other Thoughts: Good contact with the CPU is necessary, but I think Zalman wants to weld the cooler to the CPU.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent CPU Cooler!

Pros: Unique design, blue LED fan, all copper heat pipes and fins, noticed a reduction in CPU temperatures over stock cooler by an average of 17 Degrees Celsius (at normal loads) even when overclocking the CPU.

Cons: Can be difficult to install. If possible, install this CPU cooler Before installing the motherboard into your case. Since my motherboard and other hardware was already installed, it was rather difficult to install, and like many others, I had a great deal of cuts on my hand with blood, nothing serious, but can be painful. Trying to screw in the bolts to attach to your motherboard is difficult, as you have a hex key -type tool and have to use an odd angle to screw in the bolts, thus causing cuts on your hands.

Other Thoughts: This is a great CPU cooler and does it's job well at cooling the CPU. I recommend this cooler to anyone who does not prefer liquid cooling, just try to install the CPU cooler BEFORE installing your Motherboard and other hardware if possible. I also can confirm that this CPU cooler DOES work with Socket LGA 1150. Minus 1 egg for difficult installation, would be nice if it was a push-pin install rather than the odd angle you have to screw in the bolts to your motherboard, otherwise this would be 5 eggs.

4 out of 5 eggsamazing cooler

Pros: have had it for a year and only just recently it made a skitter sound and the fan stopped spinning and i had to restart my pc to get it going again. (only happened once)

keeps my AMD FX-6300 at 9c idle 44c max when at 100%.

Cons: Must be installed with mother board out of the case.

very heavy moving your system could undo or break a good thermal compound bond.

Had to remove the board to install, ackward hex screws directly under the main body of the cooler.

fan is not replaceable or this thing could be a lifetime cooler.

5 out of 5 eggsMonster Cooler - Beware!!

Pros: Keeps the I7-4790K at near ambient temperature even during a stress test. It's big so beware! At over 1.6 lbs make sure your MB can handle the weight, you can find the specs for it on their website. Make sure you have a case with the depth to fit it in.
It was installed in a Fractal case which is wide so no problems. It's round and does not interfere with ram install. It does a great job of cooling for the money.
Installation was easy by the instructions IF you go slowly and do it by the book. I installed it on an 1150 socket MB with no problems.

Cons: Almost didn't buy it because I wasn't sure it would work on the 1150 socket. There isn't anything on the box that declares it will. It is listed in the instructions though.
Fan direction information in booklet is messed up.

Other Thoughts: Probably will only buy many more of these.

3 out of 5 eggsThey changed a great thing

Pros: I guess used to be zalman was the easis=est and best cooler that has changed ... and its not the quality .. it seems effective but now its a pain in the buttox

Cons: They changed the mounting method and Its a PAIN .. I too stripped out the Allen head bolts the older way was so much better and easy as pie this way is very inconvenient << had to use this word as I couldn't post this otherwise... I have never purchased anything but Zalman in the past several 92mm and a 120 but this one is the first for the new mount method.. I will try other brands now.. there has got to be a better way

4 out of 5 eggsFollow up after 2 years.

Pros: I've had this running on an FX 4170 OC'd to 4.5 gigs. Been idling at 14° for the entire time. When stressing the CPU, I get up to 67°, sometimes a little higher when the room is hot. After 2 years the thing still runs strong. I would buy another if I was building another system.

Cons: Mounting was difficult and takes a lot of patience. It is har to clean.

I'm not fond of the blue LED lights.

Other Thoughts: My wifes computer has the XIGMATEK Gaia and it is noisy compared to this one (they both get loud under load). Both these cool OC'd AMD CPUs very well. The Gaia was MUCH easier to install.
