Long popular for the design and engineering of their products, Zalman continues to deliver on their tradition by producing quality products backed with excellent service. The CNPS9900LED goes a step further by looking good as it cools your AMD or Intel processor.

The efficient dual copper heatsink design combines a 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the 120mm blue LED fan’s blades and 2 ball bearings. Noise level can be lessened automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly.

The CNPS9900LED is compatible with all single- and multi-core CPUs for Intel's Socket 775/1156/1366 and AMD’s Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2/754/939/940. All the clips and backplates are included so there's nothing else to buy to get the unit attached to your motherboard in minutes.

  • newegg Pure Copper Heatsink Base and Fins A pure copper base and circular heatsink formed by radially aligned ultra-thin (0.2mm) copper fins maximize heat dissipation surface area for excellent cooling performance.
  • newegg High-efficient Heatpipe Design The innovative heatpipe design delivers a heat transfer capacity equivalent to 6 heatpipes with just 3.
  • newegg 120mm Cooling Fan with PWM Function The 120mm cooling fan with PWM function automatically adjusts speeds according to the CPU temperature for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the ZALMAN CNPS9900A LED features broad compatibility with all AMD socket AM2, 754, 939, 940 and Intel 775, 1156 and 1366 platforms.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT CPU Cooler

Pros: Perfect, keeps the temp 20C under from stock. It is pretty big, so make sure your case can fit it.

Cons: Installing can be tricky, but take your time.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfection..

Pros: [-] One of the best free air HSF's on the market for appropriate CPU
[-] Keeps things real cool.... but read other thoughts

Cons: [-] Doesn't come with an ISO 1 cleanroom

Other Thoughts: Ok, so the "con" (not truly a con of course) concerning the ISO 1 cleanroom. This HSF is great. My spouse and I keep things very clean. However, every three months this thing shows us (between its fins) just what the Dyson and Central A/C system doesn't filter out of the air. I purchased an attachment for the vacuum typically meant for cleaning tight spots in a car, etc. to clean this bad boy (in two computers of mine). Any build/case that will allow it (due to room/compatibility), I use this for the HSF!

1 out of 5 eggsLemon?

Pros: Good air flow and is quiet. Large but still fits case.

Cons: There are quite a few reviews that claims that the brackets do not reach the bolts and this is the same case with me as well.
If you look at installation videos, the bolts from the back of the motherboard are much longer and the bracket itself would stay on the motherboard. My rear bracket kept falling off and the bolts were barely able to touch the screws from the top bracket. It's might be impossible to fit on LGA 1150.
They might be sending out different bolt sizes unintentionally. On the other hand their specification page on newegg list it as compatible with LGA 1150 but it is not listed on the overview page.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome fan

Pros: This fan is awesome! It's very quiet most of the time, looks good, and keeps my i7-950 very cool even at a 30% overclock - and the 950's were not known for having low temps... I've had this fan for a couple of years now and fully intend to use it when I upgrade to an i7-4790k later this month.

Cons: This can be a little difficult to clean because of the sheer number of blades and how close they are to eachother. Getting in between each blade to clean all of them takes time. They can also be a bit sharp, I've gotten plenty of little nicks on my fingers when installing, cleaning, or generally poking around in my case.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that this fan is rather large and will stick out a decent ways into the case. Make sure your case is wide enough to fit the fan after install - I actually had to file away a part of my old case to get it to fit! When the fan ramps up to 100% it can be get a little loud, but it cools so well that this rarely happens anyway. The rest of the time it's so quiet I can't even hear it over ambient noise in my apartment, much less my other case fans.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Solution for HOT Computer

Pros: My son was having a heat problem. I built him a light show inside an acryllic case which is not good for heat dissipation to begin with., He has an ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX R2.0 MOBO with an AMD 1075 6 Core. Once it hit over 62 C it shut off. Installation of the Zalman knocked about 15 C off. It runs 45-49 C now.

Cons: Boy was this a pain to figure out and install. The directions are a bit ambiguous. Try everything first before committing. You need to disassemble the hardware supporting the CPU Socket. Thankfully I did not need to remove the CPU (which I had previously bent the pins and has been in 3 different computers, I did not want to test my luck on this one).

Other Thoughts: The cause of my heat problems was the acryllic case as they are not good heat dispersion. I have an 8 Core same MOBO installed in an Antec 900 case which is well-ventilated. The stock CPU cooler is completely adequate in this situation.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit

Pros: Looks large. Made of copper.

Cons: It cannot be installed. Here is why:
1. The top bracket and the bottom bracket lie about 1.5 inches off each other once fully in place. The supplied screws for them are...not 1.5 inches long.
2. The screws are directly under the fins, meaning it is impossible to use a screwdriver for them. You have to use an allen wrench for tiny screws. No thank you... not that it would do any good, considering the screws don't reach the bottom brackets.
3. Bottom brackets cannot be secured other than to the top bracket, so you kinda just have to hold it place awkwardly with your other hand or something while you try to apply thermal paste and place a 1 kg heat sink on top of your cpu.
Overall it is the worst piece of industrial design I have had the displeasure of witnessing. It looks like the designers took care to defeat the consumer at every step of the installation. If that was indeed their purpose, then it was a rousing success.

Other Thoughts: It does not fit the AM3+ socket, so maybe stop claiming that it does.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -

Cons: The thing is absolutely massive. There is also an extremely loud and annoying clicking/buzzing coming from the fan. The screws were stripped by the allen wrench that came in the box and now I can't get it off the motherboard. Temperature of CPU is also still clocking in at the same temps that the stock CPU cooler had - instructions had told me to install the cooler with the fan going into the center of the tower and it's working in opposite with the external case fan.

3 out of 5 eggsNewer version flawed.

Pros: I've had one of these for years. They are quiet and effective.

Cons: These newer versions don't have the same clip mechanism and the old. The older ones had a simple clip mechansm for AM- based mainboards, easy to install and uninstall directly on the top of the mainboard- no backplate required. But the new version has an overly wide nut in the middle of the base that prevents the clip from fitting. So the only way for me to install this would be to completely take out my mainboard and install the full mounting bracket on the rear of the mainboard.

Other Thoughts: Why would they take away a perfectly good clip mechanism? I purchased this heatsink for that very reason, but now i will probably be returning it since i'm not willing to completely disassemble my computer.
