Long popular for the design and engineering of their products, Zalman continues to deliver on their tradition by producing quality products backed with excellent service. The CNPS9900LED goes a step further by looking good as it cools your AMD or Intel processor.

The efficient dual copper heatsink design combines a 3-pipe system that effortlessly whisks heat away with the help of the 120mm blue LED fan’s blades and 2 ball bearings. Noise level can be lessened automatically by using the integrated PWM functionality which lets the BIOS monitor fan performance and thermal need and adjust the fan's speed accordingly.

The CNPS9900LED is compatible with all single- and multi-core CPUs for Intel's Socket 775/1156/1366 and AMD’s Socket AM3/AM2+/AM2/754/939/940. All the clips and backplates are included so there's nothing else to buy to get the unit attached to your motherboard in minutes.

  • newegg Pure Copper Heatsink Base and Fins A pure copper base and circular heatsink formed by radially aligned ultra-thin (0.2mm) copper fins maximize heat dissipation surface area for excellent cooling performance.
  • newegg High-efficient Heatpipe Design The innovative heatpipe design delivers a heat transfer capacity equivalent to 6 heatpipes with just 3.
  • newegg 120mm Cooling Fan with PWM Function The 120mm cooling fan with PWM function automatically adjusts speeds according to the CPU temperature for the optimum balance between cooling performance and noise level.
  • newegg Universal Socket Compatibility As an all-in-one solution for PC systems, the ZALMAN CNPS9900A LED features broad compatibility with all AMD socket AM2, 754, 939, 940 and Intel 775, 1156 and 1366 platforms.

3 out of 5 eggsInstallation problems

Pros: Decent product, does what's it is design to do, no problem here

Cons: while building my computer i cut myselft a hundreds times on this... The instruction were so useless not clear at all! Its an enormous CPU cooler

Other Thoughts: If i had to redo this i'd go for a much smaller one

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Keeps my overclocked Haswell I7 below 40C even after hours under load. Also, is surprisingly quiet for such a large sink. Who needs water cooling?

Cons: Instructions were worse than useless. Be careful when installing.

3 out of 5 eggsdisappointed ticking fan

Pros: good heat dissipation
high quality parts except for the fan (more on that)
sturdy

Cons: As the title points out, my biggest disappointed with this cooler is the fan. There is a distinct and very noticeable ticking sound coming from the fan. This is very annoying considering I specifically wanted a silent running computer so even at SLOW speeds you can hear the fan ticking. I would rather hear a low humming noise then a ticking sound.

Other Thoughts: Other then the ticking sound coming from the fan this would have been a five star product. Perhaps it is just the fan that I received, and perhaps, just hopefully the ticking sound will go away in time. But because of this ticking sound I would hesitate to purchase another Zalman product. This is unfortunate since I own three Zalman coolers and each have been good products but as a consumer I really do not want to deal with little issues like this.

5 out of 5 eggs3 years going strong

Pros: It has a blue led which goes with my blue led Antec 1200 case (check it out seriously) so it looks amazing. My i7 temperatures have been fine.

Cons: It gets a bit dirty in the fins and it's hard to get to. I try to use air, but it gets pretty dirty and needs abrasion. A toothbrush does the trick ok, but sill tight area.

4 out of 5 eggsDid not come with AMD clip

Pros: Still a top quality component. Have a CNPS9900LED installed on an AMD X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz AM3 125W CPU since 2010. 32C idle. Very quiet. Never have seen temps higher than 47C. On the 2010 installation I used the AMD clip, and was able to install the cooler with motherboard in case. Honestly with the solid copper construction, and the fan design it is a beautiful thing.

Cons: I am just totally bummed that the AMD clip is missing on this new CNPS9900ALED. The illustrations for the CNPS9900ALED show that the AMD clip is part of the mounting accessories, and I verified that before I ordered this one. I was going to use the CNPS9900ALED to replace a very old AMD fan/heatsink (noisy) on an old 939 motherboard that just keeps chugging along. Not having the AMD clip will at the very least turn this 30 minute heat sink installation into a 4 hour installation. Of course, that is assuming the CNPS9900ALED can be mounted using the mounting accessories that it did come with. I really would like to use the AMD clip and have emailed ZALMAN asking where the AMD clip for my new CNPS9900ALED is. I find it really irritating that the AMD clip is missing on this new cooler and have subtracted a star. Of course if I find I cannot use it on the 939 I will be sending it back.

Other Thoughts: When I bought this cooler on sale, I thought I would be getting the AMD clip which would have allowed a simple and quick time saving solution to replace a failing AMD fan/heatsink. Now I will have to remove the motherboard from the case, with all the hassle that entails.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's really big

Pros: High quality, quiet

Cons: Way too big

Other Thoughts: This thing is huge. Check the room in your case before ordering. I was able to shoehorn it into my system but I would not do that again. I'd find a smaller cooler.
Very high quality except for the 4 silver mounting screws. The supplied (cheap) allen wrench was very sloppy in the heads easily rounded them out. I don't feel like I was able to get the screws tight.

4 out of 5 eggsZalman CNPS9900

Pros: Quick Delivery as usual. This worked extremely well on my FM2 A10 5800K. Stock speed dropped my temperature by 14 degrees Celsius. All necessary pats are included for installation. The idea of the cooler being round is an excellent idea for those like me who have tall ram. For the price you can't beat the product.

Cons: The install is not for the weak at heart. To tear down my rig, manipulate the brackets and rebuild my rig was a four hour excursion. For AMD installs you will have to bend the brackets for the install. An arrow on the base pointing the direction of air flow would be helpful since the instal paperwork and the video show two different directions for the air flow. The reduction of one egg is due to the fact that I had to bend the brackets for the instillation.

Other Thoughts: Take your time on the install and bend the bracket in small increments until you can safely make the connection. If you have a small case don't bother it won't fit. I would suggest that you draw the cooler to scale cut it out and set in your case to insure it will fit.

3 out of 5 eggsTrouble

Pros: Does it's job and keeps CPU cool. Like the design. And it is quiet.

Cons: Very frustrating install for AM3+ motherboard. The screws are not long enough so you will need pliers and bend the brackets down.

Other Thoughts: Design flaw. AM3+ bracket could have been lowered or they could include longer screws to reach the inserts. Shouldn't have to bend things to get it to fit. Almost felt like I was going to break my motherboard or CPU installing it.
